This is just food for thought, so lemme know what you guys think.  I think Tracy McGrady could be today’s version of Ron Harper.  If so, the perfect place for him would be Miami.  McGrady is adept at playing the point guard position because of his ball handling and passing.  Since McGrady isnt a big time scorer any more, he fits right in with the Heat as a guy who could control the ball and not be relied on to score, but at the same time he is still a very good shooter and can post up other guards and is an excellent passer.  Now while T-Mac is not as good a defender as Harp and Harp may have had better PG IQ and more crafty, McGrady has good IQ as well.   The only concern is the reliability on his health.   Arroyo and Chalmers are backups, on a bad team even….they are just not the type of guards that get get continuity in a starting line up.  Wade can check the smaller quicker guards.  I mean T-Mac would be a worthwhile experiment being that he has a low salary now…and you dont have to give up much to get him….I mean the Heat really need a Billups…and a center….but since they have no shot of getting either, you may as well start somewhere and I think McGrady has the pedigree and mentality to at least be a poor man’s Ronny Harper to the Heat who need to try and start fixing their problems by injecting some creativity in the lineup, offensively and defensively.

It could only work if Mcgrady would really accept his limited role and not take away shots from the big 3. He’s have to completely reinvent himself as a distributor and shooter. That being said I don’t think it would work, his defense is not up to par and he’s averaging just over an assist a game this year.

He’s also shooting a terrible 1-9 from 3 point this year, the Heat need a shooter from that spot to space the floor I would think, he basically repeats the strengths of Wade and James except he’s not as good and 10 years older.

yeah, I see your point, but I also think Detroit is not the place for him…plus, he definitely can accept his limited role because he has no where else to go and has accomplished a lot.  he only avgs about 3ppg now, he would only ned to avg about 8 to 10ppg on a team of that caliber.  a championship would be great motivation.  I think he is a good shooter, I just dont think Chalmers or Arroyo are any more than backups.  As a distributor and shooter, I think he could do it…the biggest problem would be the defense I think….aside from the obvious injuries.

lol…the Heat need a defensive minded point that can also hit shots…If D-Rose makes a young stud like Tyreke Evans look bad crossing him over..Imagine T-Mac trying to guard Rose? T-Mac will be  looking like he’s 1 of Jerry’s Kids trying to guard all those great point guards in the league…….
