What do you all think about Tracy Mcgrady to the Cavs for Ben, Aleksander and the 30th pick?

I know McGrady ain’t sh*t no more but he’s owed $23M next year coming off the books, Wallace and Pavlovic are worth just under $20M and the last pick in the first round is worth just under $1M so that will give them slightly more cap relief for the 2010 sweepstakes and a possible answer to a great need; size in the back court and another player with the ability to take pressure off Lebron offensively and defensively (McGrady used to be a decent defender). I don’t see them getting much of an impact player at #30, and plus lets be honest other than Lebron (super obvious) and Boozer they’ve underperformed in the draft. With their second round pick I think they can get a player to fill a role off the bench as much as whoever they can get at the end of the 1st? (Adrain, Aminu, Cunningham, Meeks, Pendergraph, Brown, McNeal, etc.)

I’m not ready to totally give up on McGrady yet I think he can still play if he can stay healthy and playing with Lebron, Mo and West he wouldn’t have to contribute as much plus, less pressure and he’d be guaranteed to get out the first round.

Just a thought, low risk high reward possibly cause it ain’t like Ben or Sasha will bring anything to the table next year. Z needs to do them a favor and retire and they most definitely need to resign Varejao.

I agree with everything you said except I wouldn’t re-sign Varejo. I think the Cavs would be better if they signed Big Baby, Villanueva, or Gortat.

I like the idea of them trading for McGrady. He can definitely take some pressure off LeBron.

t-mac doesn’t compliment lebron very well. he is a guy that likes to have the ball in his hands too much. that is why the rockets struggled when t-mac was on the court. between him, alston and artest; the ball never got into yao’s hands as much as it should’ve. i could see the same thing happening at cleveland with mo williams, lebron and t-mac.

…Thats why i said low risk because if it doesn’t work they’re not locked into anything long term, there is some talk of Vince but he has 1-2 more years than t-mac and he’s also injury prone just not as much. As far as Varejao i thought the same thing last year, but he’s a factor (plays well off Lebron always in the right place for his feeds, rebounds well) just not a starter at all but a good piece i just don’t know how much to pay him. Villenuava=nah wants to much money (Amare or Bosh if you wanna spend), Big Baby can be drafted in this second round, Gortat is Varejao for all intents and purposes but if he’s cheaper I can see that. They don’t need Shaq he will clog the middle.

They need to do something because the current lineup won’t be any better next year. I think they would be better off looking to add a big man who can actually play a little offense. But if nothing materializes, then TMac would be a good option. Honestly, I think they should go after Odom. He can defend either forward spot, and he is a great rebounder. He also knows how to play with a superstar, and I’m sure he would love to get back at the Lakers for not resigning him.

No! They need a good 2nd option, but McGrady is often injured and not worth the money he is paid. There are much better options. He’s also too needy for the rock to play with Lebron. Ming doesn’t demand the ball the way James does. It would be risky and in my opinion a very bad move. Also if James has a bad experience in Cleveland next season, he is a goner, and so is the Cav franchise.

I heard Ming might be on block. I know he has injury concerns as well, but he isn’t a traditional low post center, doesn’t demand ball as many top flight centers do, and is a good passer. He might be a fgood fit. Odem isn’t a prolific scorer, but would be a good compliment. Also a good passer, skilled in many areas, and a good teammate. Just a couple of ideas of the top of my head. also, how about Jamison?

…The Cavs new Chinese owners want Yao, but I don’t see Houston trading him they prolly have to try for him in free agency, Odom is a good fit i think too but they could get him and McGrady because he’s a free agent this year, Jamison is cool he can score but he’s on the downturn and is another undersized defensive liability, but I see where your coming from. Only thing with Odom and Jamison is the money and years, what about Artest?

Artest could be risky, but is awesome player. I think they need to take a lower risk player because if it blows up, Lebron could leave. I’m sure there are other good options. Ming was just kind of off the top of my head, but if they could put a package togetther, he would fit very nicely!

T-Mac’s “Cousin Vinnie” would be a better fit. Not sure what it would cost and he needs the ball quite a bit. Not a perfect match, but Cavs sure would be a hi flyin’ exciting team…..ala Phi Slamma Jamma! He is a good scoring threat and if would sacrifice some stats for the team, it could possibly work.

They need to bring in someone to get Lebron happy because if they don’t they will lose him for free. He will roll out for nothing if they don’t bring in help right now. If they don’t and they won’t trade him, after next season Clevland Cavs will be starting over from scratch as a franchise. They have to do something fast. Or do the unthinkable lose him for nothing or trade him.

i think that mcgrady and bron have clashing styles but at the same time it could maybe work. I see vince as a better fit 4 bron jus because i think tmac is too ball dominant. i still want 2 believe in tmac becuz at one time he was my fav player(orlando days). but now i hardly see him on the court so its hard 4 me 2 say he still is a top 5 guy in the league
