I know we should never overreact to summer league but 31 points on 12 shots is ridiculous. As long as rose is healthy and keeping the defense running around mcdermott is going to have a field day and be efficient at the same time

I was watching and thinking if Rose is healthy, Chicago is winning the East. I guess Gasol and Noah are starting along with Dunleavy? If so, you’re talking about a bench of Hinrich/Snell/McDermott/Gibson/Mirotic. Pretty good team

  I agree 100%. Snell and Mcdermott are going to be big impacts in the rotation this year. Gasol is a huge upgrade from Boozer. Nikola Mirotic will compliment Noah, Gibson, and Gasol as well. Butler is like Chicago’s secret weapon that continues to learn and improve at a fast rate. He is arguably the best wing defender in the league.
  If Rose is healthy the skies the limit for this team. They are currently my favourite out of the East but it is too soon to make that assumption. Stephenson is still on the market, as is Love, Monroe, Bledsoe. There is still activity and teams trying to improve so well see what happens.

The ball is going to get whipped around the court with Noah and Pau in the middle, Doug setting up shot in the 3 point line and Rose (hopefully) slashing to the rack. Chicago is going to be a really fun team to watch

Thibs defense is predicated off team defense and forcing the opponent to certain spots of the floor. You aren’t going to see a stellar defensive performance from McDermott in the SL, but if Kyle Korver was an effective defensive player in the same system I have faith McDermott can do quite well.

  Exactly. Korver wasn’t known for defense, but while he was a Bull he knew his rotations and defended much better than anyone would have thought. And McDermott’s athleticism is underrated, plus he has a very high bball IQ. He’ll be fine.

  Gibson might have earned the starting role over Boozer but Gasol is wayyyy better than Boozer is at this point. Gibson will be much better coming off the bench.

I like most were his basketball IQ and his aggressiveness on the defensive end of the floor. I know he is not going to be known as a defender, but his effort on that end was surprising. He has a very quick release and recognized when to post the smaller player. I didn’t see him taking bad shots and run the floor very well. It’s only summer league but a very good pick up for the Bulls. I also like Cameron Bairstow from New Mexico. A very tough kid that could become a fan and Thibs favourite from day one. Bulls will have a very deep team. Only injuries could derail them

It is great the Bulls have a good bench again. That was so important in 2011, and these last 2 years their bench has sucked, Thibs, hasn’t trusted any of them, and Noah and Butler were left out there playing 45 minutes.
This team is extremely deep, and despite not aquiring a 2nd shot creator has at least gotten a lot better offensively.
I’m really interested to see how McDermott and Mirotic fit in, and if McDermott can eventually supplant Dunleavy as a starter, that would be awesome.
But it really all comes down to the biggest if in sports: If Derrick Rose stays healthy. If he does, this team will be there with the Cavs when it is all said and done. There’s too much depth there, and Pau may be a tad bit rejuvenated.
