Reports are coming in that suggest free agent guard O.J. Mayo is close to closing in on terms to become the newest member of the Milwaukee Bucks.

It’s an interesting move to say the least. Milwaukee will have money, and they want a top-notch guard. O.J. seems to be their guy, at least for now. Do you guys think that this deal will get done? And if so, what do you make of it?

I Wonder what type of plan Dallas will have now ? For 2 straight years they’ve had the money, but couldnt bring in another star…. CP3 went back to Clippers and i doubt Dwight goes there …

Cuban said Dirk will a Maverick until he retires..But isnt it time for them to trade Dirk and rebuild?

What are the rumored terms? The closer it is to 40+mill, the worse it is for the Bucks.

Nothing concrete out there yet, but knowing that Kevin Martin got $7mil per year from the Wolves, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bucks give Mayo somewhere around(but likely exceeding) that figure. They’ll most likely overpay.

I like this for the Bucks. There really isn’t a better option out there for them, and they really need a SG, as they are likely losing the top 3 SGs on their roster (Ellis, Redick, Dunleavy).

I’d like to see the Bucks just let Jennings go and then just tank for one season. They have a really nice set of bigs, but they just aren’t going to have a great backcourt next year. Jennings and Mayo are decent, but they don’t make a great starting backcourt for a playoff team, especially one that lacks stars. If they get a high lottery pick next year, to pair with Mayo and Wolters/Antetokounmpo, if either of them look like anything, they could have a good young team.

I don’t get this signing. If you are trying to tank, why would you sign Mayo for all that money?

They need somebody to put on the court. Mayo isn’t going to stop them from losing games unless they get more good players at PG and SF.

If they just need someone to put on the court they could just get a stopgap FA. Mayo’s not looking to be a stopgap. He wants a LT contract and he wants to maximize his value. I can’t fault him for that. He already played a yr on the QO. He already took another ST deal so that he could be a part of this FA class. He’s already settled for less.
If they sign him to a contract, which will likely be a LT one, then they will be signing him to be a part of their core.

They’re also rumored to having a lucrative offer for Korver as well at 3 yrs 20-21mill. That’s another step closer to more mediocrity aka NBA hell.

For their sake, hopefully Jennings decides to play for the QO so that he can steer the tank into the ground before he walks.

Disappointed to see this. I knew it wasn’t likely but I wanted Mayo to end up with the Thunder or even return to Mavs. Winning must not be a top priority to him. Granted it’s easy for me to say as a fan.

OJ Mayo will probably be pretty happy going out and scoring 20ppg. He doesn’t strike me as a winner, I think he just likes to make sure he gets his own numbers, not too say he doesn’t want to win but I can see him being the kind of guy satisfied if he looks like the big guy on campus.

Pretty sure he didnt end up with the Clippers was because he wanted more money then to be part of a championship team. There was a rumor saying Clippers would give him max 40 mil. So I’m expecting the deal to be more then that honestly.

Dallas are locked in on so many other players none of whom they’re likely to get. So therefore they probs won’t be much better than the Bucks really. You can only work with the cards your dealt

The Bucks have no idea what they’re doing. First they trade Harris to rent Reddick for the playoffs. Then they miss out on dealing Jennings and Ellis when everyone knew they would probably be unavailable for this season. Now with there two scorers walking, they are going to fill the void with Mayo? Pick an effing direction.

I like it… $8mil a year isn’t terrible… As a Bucks fan I was scared they would seriously overpay for him… Now they just need to figure out who’s gonna play PG… Either commit to Jennings or go after Teague maybe…
