O.J. Mayo is back from his 10 game suspension but will he still be in a Grizzlies uniform next week after the NBA trading deadline? If you were to ask NBA analyst last week, the answer would have likely been “no” but with Rudy Gay’s shoulder injury that will cause him to miss at least 4 weeks, the Grizzlies may have to keep Mayo if they want to make a push for the playoffs.
It has been brought up to me in a recent Thread, that Mayo may not be on the block anymore because Rudy Gay is out for 4 weeks. With this being out in the open does that mean Mayo will not be off the hook this offseason?
That solely depends on how well he plays during those 4 weeks. If he can get back to the player he was last season and continue that path after rudy returns, maybe. But if one of the other wings on the team outplays him…..See ya, Mayo!

I want to see him in a Cavs uniform where he can expand his game and have freedom to be the best he can be.

Mayo respects Kobe enough to realize he isn’t going to be the #1 Primiary option. I think playing alongside Kobe can have a positive effect on OJ in terms of game preperation, offseason conditioning, and knowledge of when/or when to strike.

Why can’t mayo play with a number one option?..Players tend to accept there role when they come to L.A because they know they aren’t better than Kobe and Gasol. If the players were on the same level then it would be different. But this is all fantasy talk since L.A doesn’t really have anything reasonably that the Grizz want

I can agree with that concept, but he will only do it because like you said it’s Kobe & he idolized him.
I also wouldn’t mind seeing Mayo in a Cavs uniform, I believe he would mesh well with Mo Williams. Biggest question I have about him going to Cleveland is what will they give up ti get Mayo, they would have to blow Memphis away with an offer.
