Sometimes is not always good to dedicate your time and energy on netting a big fish, when there’s multiple smaller fishes you can reel in. Mark Cuban doesn’t learn his lesson. You would think he would have learned by now after going all out for Deron Williams last Summer and got burnt, and now Dwight Howard. When everyone was aiming for Dwight, Mark should’ve been smart enough to just opt for other pieces, before they agree to sign elsewhere. The Mavs could’ve added the likes of Josh Smith, Tyreke Evans, and perhaps Al Jefferson to their roster, because they had enough cap room to sign all 3, but Mark elected to go after one big fish, and that fish got caught by someone else. Now Dirk will suffer another season of missing with playoffs, with teams that didn’t even make the playoffs this past season getting better, such as the TimberWolves, Trail Blazers, and Pelicans all improving.

Go big or go home.
With a healthy dirk who knows what will happen. They are not gonna win the championship, at this piont prob just trying to put butts in the seats and field a team worthy of the outrageous ticket prices

You get Dwight Howard, and you get elevated to championship contender status. You get some combination of Tyreke Evans, Josh Smith, and Al Jefferson (especially Al Jefferson), and you make the playoffs and go home early.
You need superstars to win championships. At his age, is Dirk really a superstar anymore? And Tyreke, Jsmoove, and Big Al definitely aren’t superstars.

  The run the Magic had to the finals, Dwight was the 3rd option on offense. Hedo Turkoglu was the go to guy and Rashard Lewis had the 2nd most touches, and the 2nd best scoring averages, on the team. Dwight is a heck of a player, but he’s not a go to guy, I’m sorry.

    Do people really hate Dwight this much that they start making up lies? Rashard Lewis was the 2nd option in Orlando? Hahaha! And to make it worse someone actually liked this comment?
    Dwight was the best player on this team. They won 50 games after Rashard and Hedo left. In fact have you seen Rashard and Hedo since they left Orlando? Their careers haven’t looked too good. But Dwight after they left still dominated. And Orlando still won 50+ games. In fact how many games did Orlando win this year without Dwight? Last I checked they had the #2 pick in the draft so that means not very many.
    If you don’t like Dwight…I understand. If you think he is indecisive and a petulant child I understand.
    Saying that 2 guys who averaged less points and got a lot of their open looks because they played with Dwight were options offensively before the guy who created their offense is just lying and hatred.
    Full disclosure: I am not a fan of how Dwight has done things but the hate and the revisionist history has caused me to defend this guy in recent days.

  That’s definitely not true and a lineup with those three and Dirk would have contended. Dwight fits with Nowitzki so well and has the brand to carry over financially after Dirk’s gone so the franchise doesn’t become irrelevant (which it won’t anyways). I don’t know what status you’re talking about but that’s not how basketball works. I guess you didn’t watch the Lakers last season.
