NO EZ BUCKETSParticipantclippers get: Caron butler
Mavs get: Michael Beasley and Anthony Randolph
T-wolves get: Chris Kaman and Domonique Jones
The clippers get rid of Kaman and get a much needed good SF. Projected starting lineup:
PG- williams
SG- Gordan
SF-Butler
PF-Griffin
C-Jordan
If the Mavs have any concerns about caron coming back from his injury then they would get a good scorer in michael beasley who can take some of the scoring load off of Dirk and Terry. They would also get a solid backup at the PF spot and a nice prospect in Anthony Randolph. Projected starting lineup:
PG-Kidd
SG-Terry/stevenson/fernandez/barea
SF-Beasley
PF- Dirk
C- chandler
The T-wolves would be able to give more minutes to Derrick Williams while at the same time filling a hole at center. Oh by the way they would get rid of pot-head beasley and get a good prospect in Jones who can share mins with Johnson at the 2. Projected starting lineup:
PG-Rubio
SG-Johnson
SF- D-Will
PF- Love
C- Kaman

TRC1991Participantclippers lose badly. plus minnesota isn’t looking to trade beasley.

cryan03ParticipantKeep everything the same but give the Clippers Anthony Randolph instead of giving him to the Mavs.
In the end the trade looks like:
Clippers Receive: Caron Butler & Anthony Randolph
Mavs Receive: Mike Beasley & Future 1st Round Pick from Clippers (Projected)
TWolves Receive: Chris Kaman & Dominique Jones
Thoughts?

NO EZ BUCKETSParticipantThat actually sounds pretty good. I couldn’t decide whether to give randolph to the clips or mavs. the mavs have no backup PF(well not a good one) so I gave him to them

WinterSoldierParticipantI actually think the biggest losers of the trade are the Wolves i’m just not convinced that Kaman has much left in him(I know he’s been injured but injuries take a lot more out of big men)

doubledribblerParticipantI don’t think it is a great trade for any of the teams, but I don’t think it’s horrible either. I think it is an OK trade for Clippers only in that they clear cap space and get a solid veteran.
I don’t like it for Dallas. I don’t think Beasley fits with what they have. Sure he is young, but the last thing they need is an inefficient offensive player that plays no d, especially when they play a lot with a small backcourt and Dirk, who although improved as a defender just has horribly slow feet on that side of the ball. Besides I think Mavs will have plenty of offense as long as everyone is healthy. Randolph makes the trade better, but if he’s having a hard time getting on the court for bad teams and doesn’t always play with a high IQ, I don’t see how he sees much time unless he makes a dramatic improvent. Mavs would probably rather just have a couple of more years of Caron Butler if he is healthy and willing to agree to terms.
Wolves…I’m not a huge fan of Kaman. Seems like he is hurt a lot, but he’s an upgrade at the position and keeps Love at the 4 more often and you have Williams who can slide over to the 4 when needed and be able to slide Wes Johnson over to the 3 when Williams moves up there.. Then Jones is worth the risk and fits a need. At some point they have to clear their log jam and this may be a good way to do so.

river09Participanti know everyone loves speculating trades and that’s nice BUT i’m gonna be so excited when one of these threads actually discusses a trade that actually occurred…!! 😛 … and the wolves get really screwed in these deals… beasley (a proven scorer potential star in the next couple years), randolph (sooooo much potential, so little results(so far)); for kaman (steady but constantly injury prone.. and old…. we don’t like old players in minnesota, 25 yrs old is the cut off lol…. honestly he would fill a need, but for how long…), jones ( could be good, but who would know… many people on this site even have their doubts on whether he will ever be an effective scorer in the nba)…. hardly an even deal for them…
sorry about all the parenthesis…

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Mavs get a pot head who can’t do anything other than shoot the ball and a guy who’s been surviving based on his potential since he was drafted.
Sounds like they’re the biggest losers to me… Championship teams don’t make boneheaded moves like that.

BigDParticipantThat’s an extremely high risk/reward trade. If it doesn’t work out, they’re screwed in their bid to repeat. However, Rick Carlisle is the perfect coach to get a pothead like Beasley motivated and focused, and if he plays like he can, Dallas could be set up for a few more years of championship challenging, but again, extremely high risk, but possibly the perfect situation for Beasley to play alongside true legends in Nowitzki and Kidd, and realise how much work is needed to be great.

frogmanParticipantThis is the total opposite of a high risk/high reward trade for the Mavs. They just won the title without giving one single minute to either Butler or Jones so if the trade doesn’t work out they just sit Beasley’s ass on the bench and play their championship winning rotation. Doesn’t seem high risk to me. (That said this trade will never go down)

aamir543ParticipantTo be honest this trade isn’t that bad, but it just really doesn’t improve any of the teams, however niether of the teams would see more than a 3-4 win dropoff because of this trade.
