I really hope this is about to go down. I love it when the Mavericks get busy during the trade deadline. For some reason though, my favorite trade the Mavericks made was when they acquired Nick Van Exel and LaFrentz. Maybe it is because that is the trade that set the Mavericks resurgence in movement about 8 years ago.

This could push the mavs to the next level, on they other hand newjersey would have a team to beat up on in the East now.

Im a Wiz fan and I’m not a big fan of this deal..I was hoping we could get some young talent out of our core right now…Nothing against J.Howard, but he’s been mad struggling this season and will just add to our defensive woes……Gooden and Ross doesn’t make me excited at all either… Caron is a legit player and deserves to be on a legit team, the guy plays with intensity. Haywood is one of the most underrated centers in the league too, Mav’s would be scary with this team…if only Kidd was younger..Just wondering what is Howards contract? does it end in 2011?

The only intension of doing the trade is to get rid of Butler and Stevenson for rebuilding.

There were rumor about trading Butler and Haywood for McGrady and the trade did go anywhere after Wizards trying to force Stevenson on the Rockets and got rejected.

I think the Wizards agreed to this deal because they are desperate to get rid of Stevenson’s contract. Howard, Gooden, and Ross are all expiring. The Wizards season is in jeopardy after a bad start with Arenas back in the lineup. Unfortunately for you, signing Arenas to that 111 mil deal (after he missed nearly 2 seasons) was one of the worst thing that could happen to you guys.

I think the Wizards really backstapped Arenas in the gun incident. I believed it was really a joke that went too far, and the Wizards just tried everyway they can to get rid of Arenas because of the bad start and his nearly untradable contract. Ernie Grunfeld was the first one to report the incident to the NBA. Isn’t it weird that he would be so eager to report this to the NBA? A lot of hidden stories in the NBA, and most of the time, the team would try to cover up any bad news and keep a good image. Also, the organization would usually stick behind the star player, but in the Wizards case, they did not and they immediately tried to make a bad situation 100x worse.

After this season, the Wizards should do a clean house from top to bottom and good luck to that.

I always didn’t understand the reasoning of giving a man over 100 million dollars after not play for basically a whole season. I loved Gilbert and the fact that he resurrected the franchise, but giving a guy +100 mil after a serious knee injury was something I was dumbfounded at. It’s good knowing that all the contracts we get in return are expiring contracts…maybe we can land a deal with some solid FA’s, especially if we get to void Gilbert’s contract (Please David Stern……..). We have some nice young pieces, but they seem more like tradeable assets than foundational pieces to rebuilding a team…I love Jamison too but he needs to go to a contender, he deserves it.
