McDunkinTerrell Stoglin, the leading scorer in the ACC last season, will not be returning to Maryland for his junior season.
The school announced Stoglin and Mychal Parker were suspended from school for one year.
"Being a University of Maryland student-athlete carries a tremendous honor and responsibility," Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson said in a statement. "As much as we appreciate the effort these two young men gave to the program this season, they were unable to live up to that responsibility. We’re disappointed, but hope they use this as a learning experience."
The Baltimore Sun reported Stoglin would likely enter the NBA draft after the decision. While he averaged 21.6 points per game, the 6-1 guard is uncertain of being drafted. However, his options are limited unless he wants to sit out the upcoming season.
His departure is a big loss for Maryland, which was hoping to contend for a NCAA tournament berth in Mark Turgeon’s second season.
After finishing 17-15, the Terrapins were set to only lose second-leading scorer Sean Moseley. Now they’ll be without Stoglin, who took more than twice the shots of any player last season, and Parker, who averaged 4.3 points in 32 games with three starts.

c’mon craigParticipantMychal Parker announced that he was transferring earlier this month so he was gone either way. Stoglin is a huge blow. Not only was he the teams leading scorer he was there primary ball handler. Hopefully Pe’Shon Howard will be back to 100%. If not I expect Maryland to go through some growing pain with seven freshman coming in.

WizardofOzParticipantCan’t say it’s a big mistake since I think he’s an undraftable player any year, but whatever.
This kid is one of those irrational confidence, chucker supremes. He’s undersized too. I think he’s D-League fodder since I dont think his style of play is attractive overseas unless he goes to China or very low level Euro ball.0 - Posted on: Mon, 04/30/2012 - 8:37am #665760

Wahoo757ParticipantNot good news for MD fans, but I’m proposing Nick Faust has a huge breakout season next year. He was a freshman last season and really progressed as the season went along. He really impressed me when he was playing my team, UVA. Was the primary ball handler at times when Faust was struggling or out of the game and showed good ball handling and passing, abilities. Has a good stroke too. Hopefully he will fill out a bit because he was rail thin 175 pounds in a 6-6 frame. I’m going as far as saying he has an outside chance of being a 1st round pick next season, because of his athleticism and potential to become a really good all-around scorer.

PabloFiascoParticipantI think this actually makes the team better. Now they can play as a team offensively and spread the ball around. Any player could average 21pts shooting the amount of shots Stoglin did
