BKKnicksfanParticipantMason Plumlee will be a stud for Duke next season

JNixonParticipantVazquez has not been very effective this game. I think he’ll have trouble getting to the rim in the NBA, he’s had trouble getting to the rim after pick and rolls switches with guys like Lance Thomas and Ryan Zoubek guarding him, imagine an NBA guard on him. He’s not quick enough. He’s a good passer though for the most part when he’s under control.

quinceyhodgesthats true ..if this was the only game vasquez had ever played..its a good thing that teams look at a career instead of just this game…maybe you might have missed last years game against unc with a better front line..if we go by a players bad game wall had 7 the other day cousins had 7 against uconn wesley johnson had 5 against someone…makes no sense to determine someones future off of one game.. anyway we are getting killed.. lately we cant beat duke at duke…not really ashamed since they are pretty good but im very disappointed with our play. wish we could play with the intensity that duke plays with every game
on a different note jordan williams looks like drake..lol

quinceyhodgeswe are letting zobeck get double figures..this is sad
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 9:28am #255805

BKKnicksfanParticipantzoubeck always have good games against Maryland. Didn’t he have a good game last year against them?
Also, QH while you’re there…what are the chances Austin Rivers comes to Duke? Many people say he’s only a soft verbal to Florida and has interest in Duke….
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 9:33am #255807

JNixonParticipantJohn Wall can get to the rim against a big man, and DeMarcus Cousins does everything you need a center to do down low. Greivis Vazquez doesn’t get to the rim very well. I didn’t say he’s never effective, but he’s not been effective this game.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 9:44am #255812
quinceyhodgesim not saying he is as good as them but it makes no sense to say he cant get past lance and who ever on duke so how is he gonna get past nba players….its one game..hes not playing well in ONE GAME. its not the end of the world and its not gonna convince a nba scout one way or another after looking at his whole resume.
as far as rivers. its slim to none that he goes there. his commitment to florida is more then just soft. its pretty hard. he wants to go and do the visit thing though, which i can understand, but chances are very high that he stays committed to florida

JNixonParticipant“He has seen many of his drives to the basket strung out on the perimeter, leaving him to attack with help-side defenders already waiting for him. His lack of blow by quickness has been especially noticeable this season, as he’s been forced to take a lot more difficult shots from inside of 17-feet than he has had to in the past. Vasquez is making a very pedestrian 45% of his 2-pointers, while continuing to settle excessively from beyond the arc (2/5th of his field goal attempts)—making just 32% of his 3-pointers. This type of inefficiency will give most scouts serious room for pause, especially when considering his shortcomings as a defender and decision maker. ”
Maybe it’s not just this game.

BKKnicksfanParticipantlol…you gonna blame it on calls now?
Come on, Duke is clearly better then Maryland
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 9:57am #255821
quinceyhodgesummm hes averaging 17pts and is first in the acc in ast whileleading his team to second place…so no maybe its not just one game. ..by the way you might wanna wait till a game is over ..right now he has 13 and 7 reb…now that thats cleared up…these damn calls are getting pretty bad
like i said in many old post..lock fopr second round with a lil hope to make first..steps up in big games. makes players better, which is obvious by looking at his surrounding talent. doesnt need to drive to score his points since hes shown he can hit mid range and deep shots. doesnt ned to blow past guys obvious by how many ppg he gets while playing against top comp and future nba players/guards
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:00am #255827
quinceyhodgeswho blamed it on the calls..i said some calls are bad…make sure you dont try to twist my words or look to deep in them
man zoubeck must be one of the best rebounding bigmen in the countrysince hes getting boards in this one game
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:01am #255830

JNixonParticipantAveraging 17 ppg and having a alot of assists doesn’t mean he can get to the rim in the NBA.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:04am #255833
quinceyhodgeswhat point are3 you trying to make?..obviously nba scouts liek him since they say hes a lock to go somewhere in the second round. which is what i had said. and if you can get 17 ppg and you dont score from outside all the time then you obviously can get to the rim enough so what point are you trying to make?..no player needs to get to the rim all the time to be a draft prospect. hell eddie house can barely get to the rim… it doesnt really matter if you can put the ball in the basket or handle or pass or many other things
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:05am #255835
quinceyhodgesreguardless how you feel about him he is a future nba player.. maybe not a star maybe not a starter but a player. no matter how many flaws you wanna talk about. its really that simple
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:07am #255838
quinceyhodgesman dukes intensity is something i always admire about them. hats off to them in this game. vasaquez has 17pts 7reb 4ast with zero help and being horrible at getting to the basket..lol. duke is clearly the better team
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:08am #255839

LeroyJenkinsParticipantdamn even jordan davidson got on the floor
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:13am #255842
quinceyhodgesi know..lol…and he might have played 2 games….had me pisswed all the times vasquez got 2 defenders on him then he pass to a wide open mosley and he cant knock down the 3…did that three times . thats 3 ast he could have had there. then 2 other times he had guys open and they missed layups…man if he had the talent that wall, shyer, collins has he could easily lead the nation in ast. i feel for the guy. every teams defense is set up to stop him and he still gets his and sometimes his team helps him but other times they just act liek they have never played before…gotta be frustrating for him
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:20am #255847

JNixonParticipantYou are going to have to be a slashing threat if you play PG in the NBA. It’s a must. Eddie House is a SG with great shooting ability so he rarely even tries to slash, and he did used to be able to get to the rim before he played for Boston. Vazquez is going to be an NBA player, but like I said, he’s going to have a tough time getting to the rim in the NBA because he’s not quick. He’s basically a Marko Jaric type.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:22am #255850
quinceyhodgesthats why when you arent quick you use youre stutter steps and handles and go off of picks. its not just one on one.. you can go off a pick be open for a mid range or go all the way to the cup…dont have to be real quick to get to the rim
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:33am #255854
quinceyhodgeshe may not be the fastest but his sprint speed was almost the same as jru holiday and his handles are good enough to change direction and makes up for his lack of speed. plus he’s 6’6 which is very very good and allows him to shoot over other pg. like i said before as long as nba guys feel thats good enough then that works. the nba is full of guys that fans didnt think would be there who they said was too slow or cant jump or too small or this is that. but the thing they forget is the biggest question..can he play… i got that one from jerry west:)..lol
this is something that intrigues scouts…a player isnt that fast, not that strong, doesnt jump that high, isnt a lights out shooter, and doesnt lock you down. but somehow some way the kid out plays people and beast title teams with lil to no help and knows how to win… the kid may not be a 1st rounder or lotto and in some cases not even a second rounder but he finds his way onto a team and ends up playing over the guy who shoots betyter or jumps higher or etc because the kid can play. and some fans sit and wonder” how is this guy playing over that guy”….i remember people saying that about luke walton but coaches and scouts see things that the average fan doesn’t
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 10:42am #255861

JNixonParticipantI like Vazquez and think he’s an entertaining college player man..He’s a good overall player and he’s competitive so I hope he does well. I would just be scared of a PG who lacks quickness, even though he does have great size for the position
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 12:03pm #255871
quinceyhodgesi woulod to if he didnt show wasd vasquez has shown. both ellington and ty lawson especially are much faster then he is yet last year he would get past lawson with easy.. same with the year before. matte rof fact everyu quick pg hes faced he gets past

WizardofOzParticipant@quinceyhodges
What are u talkin bout. I’m a Maryland fan. I watch him all the time

WizardofOzParticipantVazquez is a good player but he needs to improve his 3-point range and really needs to improve on his decision-making. When he’s goin up against sub-par teams, he does great, but when he’s goin up against an elite team lik Duke, he tends 2 struggle and is not the big game player that he needs 2 be. Like against North Carolina, he was 6-of-8 from 3-point range, but against Duke, I dnt kno his exact field goal % bcuz i didnt watch da whole game, but, when I was watching earlier, he was 0-4 from the field and his field goal % 4 da whole was probably bad. He also needs 2 get stronger bcuz he struggles 2 get through screens on defense.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 1:10pm #255890

BKKnicksfanParticipantI don’t think Grevis will be all that good in the NBA. I say 9th man.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 1:21pm #255891
quinceyhodgesi dont think you have watched vasquez..actually with that comment i know you havnt. he is know to step up against big comp
the biggest of which last year was unc who won the title he had a triple double…34p5ts 11 reb 10ast.
matter of fact on college game tonight bilas and hubert davis said he steps up when they need him to
you say he need needs to improve his range…who doesnt but you make it seem like he cant shoot. he is shooting 39 percent from 3!!!you say big games he struggles…well he gave wake 30..unc 26 and duke 17 this year
last year…17 6 ast mich st
not to mention the second half of the acc schedule when they were fighting to get in the ncaa tournament averaging 21 points over the last 8 games0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 1:23pm #255892
quinceyhodgesi think he will be a good back up..which is what scouts are projecting him as
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 1:29pm #255894

BKKnicksfanParticipantBeing a ACC fan, I seen Vasquez play.
He’s a backup like you said but he won’t be a good PG off the bench IMO and as a SG, I don’t think he will be able to stop anyone. Plus like JNixon said- He’s slow
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 2:18pm #255904
quinceyhodgesno one on here can say he WILL or WILL NOT be good or not good. the only thing we can say is we think he wont be good or good which i can respect because everyone has there own opinion.. ive watched 90 percenbt of his whole career and i think he will be good. luke walton is a pretty good bench player and he is slow. doesnt matter if youre real fast as long as you can get youre shot off which hes shown he can. and what he lacks in speed he makes up in height being able to shoot over nba pg who’s average height is what?..6’2
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 3:08pm #255908

LeroyJenkinsParticipanthodges no offense man but unless they have them share the award they will probably give ACC POY to scheyer…even though vasquez is the better player in my opinion
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 3:25pm #255915
quinceyhodgesi agree..it will go to him even thought there stats are similar because duke will probably have the better record. And i agree
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 4:47pm #255939

BKKnicksfanParticipantLOL…Quincey I see you like to take points my friend
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 4:59pm #255941
quinceyhodgesi dont touch points..i only give them..i showed i could care less about points when i deleted my last profile when i had 1200 points just to prove a point that i dont care about points…you shouldnt assume my friend
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/13/2010 - 5:00pm #255942
quinceyhodgesi even just gavce you a point to show u how much i dont care about points
0 - Posted on: Sun, 02/14/2010 - 6:54am #256065
quinceyhodgesthen how you talk about his 3point shooting when he shoots 39 percent and say he doesnt step up in big games when thats all he did last year to get them in the tournament including that triple double against unc to beat them last year…or did you forget about all that?
