 I still think that Marvin Williams is a victim of circumstance. If given the opportunity, I could see him being an effective 20ppg scorer with enough shots. As a personal fan, I hope that he is eventually traded but I can’t see many teams gambling on him with his salary in this economic downturn. However, the Cavs would be an ideal fit IMO. Not only have they been willing to take on salary (see Baron Davis and Richard Hamilton most recently) but they also have a need for a scoring SF.

I think he is a 3, not a four. Good solid backup, can be a starter if necesary.

 If the Suns didn’t have so many wing type players he could defintely flourish in that system. Dallas wouldn’t be a bad place either behind Dirk and Marion could mentor him to be a better defender.

 Definitely was put in a bad situation. You don’t draft a guy ahead of Deron,CP3,Bynum,Granger,and Monta to become a bench role player. He showed so much promise in his loan year at UNC and his first couple of years in the L. J-Smoove was too similar of a player early on and thus stunted his growth. I’m with whoever said his ideal spot would be Ceveland. He could be a more athletic Al Harrington IMO. A good scorer who can do from either the 3 or the 4. More like the Harrington that played with the Hawks inside and out than that of the Warriors/Knicks who became enamoured with the 3 ball.

Dallas would be nice as well if you were just looking for him to go on throughout hs career simply as a role player. IMO, the Cavs would allow him to have his Michae Beasley 2010-2011 breakout year

Williams is in a tough spot becaue he was drafted of Chris Paul and Deron Williams, when Atlanta desparately needed a point guard. Yet, its not his fault, I never heard of a Player drafting himself. This was simply bad scouting to take a player that high that was coming off the bench on a talent team. Many players looked better than what they are when surrounded by alot talent.

 Marvin Williams is a bust. He has decent hands but terrible balance he needs some resistance training desperately. He struggles to get position when guarded by smaller defenders and even when this happens gets stripped often. He should be a MUCH better 3pt shooter than he is, his jumper is very nice I don’t think he puts the time in to make it often, although his mid-range is pretty good. Despite his lack of balance he is a pretty good defender when given the task.

He complained about being benched during this season, but he has underachieved greatly since the 07-08 season where he showed signs of finally coming together. Problems with consistency, he has a few teaser games where he puts up great numbers but follows it up with a bunch of duds.

I want to also say this that I don’t necessarily mean my first statement, for that high a pick in the draft with the talent that followed he is by all means a bust, but also the Atlanta Hawks have TERRIBLE GM’s and obviously saw something in him that wasn’t there.
