mikeyvthedonParticipantKnow that March Madness is going on right now (and this KU/Eastern Kentucky team is damn close), just was pretty surprised by this news. Did not realize Buzz was on the market, even with Marquette having a tough season. Think this has to be great news for Hokies fans, Buzz had a knack for finding good JUCO players and produced some under-the-radar pros. Think their must be more to the story of his leaving for Virginia Tech, wonder if anyone had thoughts or maybe was closer to the situation?

Dale WorthingtonParticipantIt’s gotta be about the moneh because Marquette is clearly a better job than Virginia Tech. Wish this would have happened before Pearl went to Auburn. Bruce Pearl in the Big East would have been awesome.

mikeyvthedonParticipantAlso heard that Boston College did not have mutual interest. Spoke to someone I trust who has some insights into the coaching world and heard Buzz was not on very good terms with the people at Marquette and decided to leave. Guessing money did not hurt, though I think there must have been something sour in that relationship. It happens.

machu46ParticipantHe’s taking a paycut to go to Virginia Tech. It really isn’t that strange of a move. The Big East is pretty much finished, so he took a job in the ACC where he has a chance to coach in a big conference again.
Really good get for Virginia Tech though.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantI hope Maequette gets Gregg Marshall from Wichita State. He’s easily a top 5 coach in college basketball.
