Arc12345ParticipantEveryone talks about who will be the best player from this draft 5-6 years from now. The names I always see are Okafor, Russell, Mundiay and occasionally Porzingis and Towns.
But man do I like Hezonja. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sneaks in the back door and ends up being the best of the bunch. Can shoot it, can jump, can dribble, moves well, understands the game…I just like what he brings. I personally like the attitude as well. He’s fiery and passionate and seems to have matured from what scouts initially said about him.
He’s played at one of the highest level for years and it shows. Dude looked like a pretty seasoned guy in summer league. And I know it’s just summer league, but watching more film on him makes me like him that much more.

SkalAndJamalParticipantIt’s going to be a deja vu feeling when Hezonja dunks on Okafor. Who would have thought a European wing would dunk on a big from Chicago?

Arc12345ParticipantI don’t know about all that…I really like both of them.
But I’ll add that Hezonja has a little bit of a right handed Manu Ginobli to his game. But even more lethal on the offensive end and a little bit taller. I definitely don’t think he’s the passer Manu is though. Manu has thrown some jaw dropping passes.

ilike.panochasParticipantNever watched Mario Hezonja. How is he different from Danillo Gallinari as a prospect?

BornaskulParticipantHezonja played sg for most of his career and he is 2-3 inches shorther than Gallo , he is a better passer and more athletic imo. But yeah they are both very good shooters and scorers .
I also think Hezonja will be a better rebounder for his position.

high floorParticipantHe plays with so much intensity, and in comparison to Danilo it shows more on both defense (3/4 of the time) and when he attacks the hoop. I think a "more athletic & aggressive" comp to Gallo is spot on, and scary for opposing wings in the league

he_gets_bucketsParticipantGoing to be interesting to watch how Orlando handles their roster situation. They just paid Tobias and seem pretty invested in Aaron Gordon as a 4. Dipo and Payton are both established starters as well. That leaves Mario sitting on the bench as a sixth man, and as much as I agree that he has a tantalising skill set, Orlando needs to make some moves for him to fully flex his abilities.

OhCanada-ParticipantHarris is staying in Orlando from the looks of things. The rumours that stated he and Smiles had a bad relationship were not true they have a great relationship and Harris decline a max contract from Sacramento to stay in Orlando.
Orlando would be wise to start Hezonja and bring Olafipo off the bench as a combo gaurd long-term. I don’t expect that to happen after the Watson signing but they can make the pieces fit.
I think they will be the surprise team out East this year like the Bucks last year. The East is slowly getting more competitive and will soon have 8 legit playoff teams with the Bucks, Magic, Pistons and I’ll even throw in the 76ers collecting so much talent.

TripleDoubleScoutParticipantyeah people on here are really underselling the Pistons. I see why as they are not as "sexy" on paper, but when you look at the year, that team got better and better. The start of last season is what really doomed them…

ZachAttackParticipantTo be fair… I probably would have declined the max contract with Sacramento. Nobody wants to play their right now.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI think they will bring him along slowly and let him adjust to the NBA game. I don’t expect him to play that much at the start of the season. I think the fact that they re-upped on Harris is a sign that they don’t feel he is ready to play major mins right off the bat. I expect his mins to gradually increase as the year goes on, and I’m sure he will show some flashes, but my rookie year expectations for hezonja are pretty low at this point.
I do agree that he has as much or more potential than anyone is this draft, but I couldn’t really venture a guess as to what type of NBA player he’ll be right now and I don’t think we’ll know for a few years. A lot will depend on his patience and work ethic I believe. The dynamic with skiles and him will be interesting to watch to say the least.
