Marcus Williams had a banner NBA Summer League. And it made a difference.

Williams’ agent, Calvin Andrews, confirmed to Pro Basketball News on Wednesday afternoon his client will sign with the Memphis Grizzlies within the next few days. The point guard will get a one-year deal for the NBA minimum of $855,189.

“They have a need for another point guard,” Andrews said. “And, after playing with (the Grizzlies during the summer league in Las Vegas), he’s very comfortable with them and the coaching staff.”

i watched a few of those summer league games & Marcus looked really impressive. He throws incredible passes. He just takes bad shots…that is his main flaw. Overall though this is a great pickup at a bargain price. Definitely a quality backup for Conley.

great pick up for cheap but he needs to improve his shooting to get a decent contract the grizz is putting some nice things together with that roster and with a cheap organization but mayo did wanna play some pg so lets see how that work out

Another Hoopsworld story, but yeah I think this is a good sign for them. Hopefully he can do what he did in the Summer League well…I know those won’t be his stats if he is a backup, but he shouldn’t try and score with all the scorers he will have surrounding him (Mayo, Gay, and Randolph). Great Price as well, the NBA’s minimum. Memphis actually made a good choice and stayed cheap as well. haha.

If he was going to be third string, who would be the primary backup?? O.J.??? He has to be the backup PG. He might even challenge Conley for the starting job.

Improved a lot last year, but I think Williams could push him for that starting spot. He might be the better passer overall. Conley is the better scorer he improved that a lot last year.

Now wait a second, Macus Williams will end up starting. He’s WAY better than Conley. What are you all thinking? Can you honestly say Conley is better than Williams. Nope. Did you guys forget how Williams played in New Jersey behind Jason Kidd. Conely hasn’t proven anything in the league, that’s why he’s always the subject of trade rumors; he’s not reliable.

Listen, the reason Williams is in this situation is because he didn’t get along with Don Nelson. But he’s a starter in the league and people better watch out because he’s hungry.

Dhamp…the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

Don Nelson was an absolute fool to get rid of Williams.
