Moon RiverParticipantI love the NBA offseason. Lets see if the Cavs step up their offer. They have been connected to Deng for some time.

FutureNBAGMParticipantStill not a very good deal for Washington imo. They would essentially be dumping the 3rd pick in return for a one year rental on Deng. I would pass if I were the Wizards.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantYou been on point with the updates today huh lol? Washington is definitely trying to make a playoff push now. But IF this goes down, who would the Bulls take?
0- Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 8:16am #804483
Darius22ParticipantMy guess would be Otto Porter
0- Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 8:19am #804493

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantBut they have Jimmy Butler. Unless they plan on playing him at the 2.
0- Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 8:22am #804505

cuseflynn10ParticipantI think the Bulls would take McLemore if their trading Deng for the #3 pick. What’s the point in trading Deng for Porter? Deng is more expensive and older, while Porter will have a rookie contract and is also a solid player, but he’s unproven at the NBA level. I think they’d be better off sliding Butler to SF and drafting either McLemore or Oladipo, preferably McLemore as his outside game could flourish alongside Rose.

CAROLINA BLUE NICKParticipantI agree with both you guys. The more I thought about it, it would be between McLemore or Oladipo. I actually think because Thibs is so defensive minded, if the Magic don’t take Oladipo as projected on this site, then I think they may lean towards him more so than McLemore.
0- Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 8:40am #804517

Velvet HoopParticipantBut supposedly the Magic like Oladipo at 2, so he could be gone by 3. However, Chicago pretty much know that one of those two will be available and maybe they just take whichever one Orlando doesn’t.

jonus grumbyParticipantI agree Tibbs thinks defense first but I would hope management realizes they need to get into the 90 point/game range to beat the Heat. They are not going to win a series against the Heat scoring in the 70’s or low 80’s. I think it is easier to get an offensive player and teach him team defense then to get a defensive player and teach him to score.

jonus grumbyParticipantIF the Bulls have decided not to sign Deng to a long term deal or if they have tried to get an idea of what the $$ would be and that is out of their thinking I would attempt to trade him. I do think Butler is more of a 3 then a 2. Of course next year if healthy Deng is better then whoever they would draft. I am happy that the Bulls are at least looking to be proactive rather then sitting back and taking what comes their way.
So next year they would have:
Rose
McLemore/Porter
Butler
Boozer/Gibson
Noah/OkaforThen they could dump Boozer and be well under the cap in ’14.
0- Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 8:33am #804515
thricethefunParticipantPorter will never play shooting guard.
0- Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 8:44am #804523
jonus grumbyParticipantI realize he will not play SG it just seemed easier to list the draft options in my opinion on the same line and realize if they drafted Porter then Butler would be the 2 even though I don’t think he is a 2.
0- Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 5:45pm #804938

Mr. 19134ParticipantI get what you meant and felt like you did it the easiest way for writing and readers some people take thinks to literal.
My question is why is everybody assuming Boozer would start over Okafor? Okafor is younger in better shape and levels beyond better then Boozer on defense. Okafor would also allow Noah to play PF which would do wonders for his durability.
In this scenario with Noah at Pf and Okafor at C keeping Butler at SG and drafting Porter keeps Chicago a formidable defensive team while giving Rose 2 very young talented long hard nosed athletic wings to grow with which segues into my next comment…..
TBD

Mr. 19134ParticipantYou’re not thinking in perspective you’re thinking through potential only eyes instead of reality if you think this be a dumb trade for the Wiz. The popular pick for the Wiz is Porter whose best case career trajectory is right along with what Deng has accomplished. Theyd theoretically be trading for Porter in his prime instead of drafting and developing which hasn’t been working great for them.
Deng is only 28 and could start at either forward spot. He’s smart with a great work ethic and a high character and is exactly the type of vet the Wiz need. Since he’s healthy and in the peak of his prime he can both tell and show the young wiz how to do
They should then resign Webster and roll out a lineup of Wall, Beal, Webster, Deng and Nene and they’re be competing everynight.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantDeng is a proven commodity that while Porter is only thought to good at this point. I guy can have all the skills in the world (see Monta Ellis) and not be winning contributor to team. I’m not saying Porter won’t be a winning player just thjat there is a large difference in value between a veteran and a prospect even if they appear equal.

Bulls should ship out deng and #3 and a player or cash. Go after a sg like oj mayo or redick.
Rose can’t do it by himself and needs a REAL SG who can shoot the 3 and create his shot0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/24/2013 - 1:05pm #804795

HitsterParticipantThe Bulls would surely be more “win now” than Washington are especially if D-Rose comes back and so to ship Deng their longest serving player would be strange but Jimmy Butler is a good replacement as he proved in the play offs and if they could get 3rd pick for a guy who could move via FA next summer then it is an interesting option.
Oladipo immediately sprang to mind when I thought who Chicago would consider if they got the 3rd pick but with Orlando apparently high on him then he may be off the board at 3. Noel would not make much sense as they have Noah, Boozer and Gibson in the frontcourt and also Mirotic due to come over in a year or so’s time.
Hence I have to agree with the guys above and say Ben McLemore woud be a great fit alongside D-Rose, he has great athleticism and his length would be a great tool for Coach Thibs to work on his defensive game with, he is a potentially elite shooter who will spread the floor and give D-Rose a lot of options.

Mr. 19134ParticipantJust for fun if this trade were to happen I wouldn’t be so fast to pen McLemore and or Oladipo in. I think Len and Bennet offer intriguing options as well. Lens potential especially on a team with Rose at Pg and Noah at Pf could be too kuch to pass on.
While Bennet could play either forward spot and eventually replace Boozer but also provide a scary running mate for Rose who knows how to bang in the post.
