Yea, thats right. The Knicks have been out there. I mean

-Nate says he will return for the Qualifying offer
-David Lee looking for a Sign and Trade ( Chicago, Utah and Portland are options)
-The MLE going to Ramon Sessions
    -Bi-Annual Exception to Von Wafer.

Think it about it, David Lee getting traded what can we get from both teams? well David Lee wants 10 mil and Looking at the teams, the Knicks may get (from either team)

Brad Miller, Tyrus Thomas Jerome James, Joakim Noah and DeMarcus Nelson (Chicago) or
Jerryd Bayless and Martell Webster (Portland)

Keep Nate gives us a scoring 6th man. Sessions is the tough one. I think he ends up a Knick but we may have to give up someone like Harrington maybe even Darko because they need a PF.

Von Wafer would also fill a huge hole for NY. Wafer would be the SG off the bench who could provide a scoring punch for the Knicks.

Looks like the Knicks making moves!! What do you think?

I know, James contract is up at the end of the season and Noah and Nelson could provide depth.

I should have put Brad Miller because he is the main piece the Knicks want if a deal goes down.

And then James’ contract would be up and that would be even more cap room off. If the Knicks grab Von Wafer and Sessions they get a legit SG and an improving PG. That is a good look for the Knicks. Plus they can get some pieces for David Lee, including some draft picks perhaps, they may make some noise. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tyrus Thomas in a Knick uniform, but I would rather the Knicks make a move with portland, and try and get some potential pieces from them. They have the best young talent in the league IMO.

    Rudy is overrated.

Chicago is looking to move Tyrus Thomas so he is available. They cant afford to re-sign him next year

I’d love to get Noah back but I doubt that would happen.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Thunder threw their hat in the ring for Lee.

No way we’d get Bayless and Webster back from Portland. I’d do that in a heartbeat.

Wafer would be a nice pickup but I still want Gerald.

I dont know since Portland just spent so much money on Miller. I dont see a deal that we would accept with Portland’s current roster. Webster has 4 years left. I doubt they trade Pryzbilla whose contract goes to 2011. We already have 2 short combo guards on our roster in Nate and Douglas so I dont see how Bayless fits.

Who says they can go after just those two guards. Nicolas Batum and Victor Claver along with Travis Outlaw might be enough. I’m not sure if those salaries match up, but that would be a nice deal to make. Batum IMO is going to be a star and if the Knicks do sign and trade with Portland, he would be the gem of the deal.

Knicks will not do this trade unless they can get someone real good or Chicago takes someone. Knicks do not mind paying Lee 10 million after next year when they can pick up some top FA but not now. They fact that they said they would sign him for 8 million is quite remarkable this season because they would rather have the money flexibility for next season. Also if David Lee pouts, he needs to realize who else can sign him. Also the Knicks will not give him away. He would be smart to take the one year qualifier and become and unrestricted free agent.

They play in the East and are in the Atlantic division, which possibly may be the weakest in the league. The way that sub .500 teams have been making the playoffs in the east, the Knicks may not even be in the lottery let alone the top of the draft lottery. They way sub .500 teams have made the playoffs the past 2 years, its not uncommon to think that if the Knicks do get some nice pieces this offseason, that they could make a run at the 8th seed, they were in the hunt at one point last year.

If directed at me and you are asking this question, than I pose the same one in your excitement on getting Von Wafer and Ramon Sessions. Ramon Sessions is a slight upgrade over Duhon and by no means the PG people on here have made him out to be and Von Wafer is a worse Larry Hughes. Needless to say, neither are more than role plauers on a contender and good players on a bad team. This would of course be the latter if they were to sign with New York for the upcoming season. The Knicks are devoid of size, even with my hope of great things for the Dark man, and they are just a raw group of players. Also, they are a mess on defense, and their are just many better teams out there, even if they sign back Nate and get Ramon/Von. Just wait for 2010 Knicksboy, or time travel back to 1973, where you might indeed be truly happy with your team 🙂

Ramon Sessions is underrated. He averaged 29mpg and still had 12 and 5. Thats pretty good. Von Wafer is in the same boat. He averaged 9.7 and was coming off the bench.

David Lee will either be signed for a season or traded. So either way, he get something back

Nate is returning so he gives us a solid scoring threat

The Knicks needed some depth. Adding these players will give us a solid chance to go to the Playoffs

I really think that the Knicks get what they want either way. If Lee signs, we get him back. If he gets traded we get building blocks, if he signs a 1 year tender we keep his rights.

And the same thing I said for sessions, goes for Von Wafer as well. Wafer had a chance to make the Knick roster last summer as he was on there summer league and pre-season team, but he was waved for Anthony Roberson and was picked up by Houston. He proved that he deserves to be in the league, as he stepped up when T-Mac was hurt. If the Knicks get him they will now have 2 legit SGs.

Realistically last year the Knicks only had an 8-10 man rotation. Lee, Harrington, Robinson, Gallinari, Chandler, Duhon, Jefferies, and Hughes realistically got good minutes. Tim Thomas and Anthony Roberson came in occasionally for points in bunches and garbage minutes.

I do not think depth killed the Knicks. Your coach is Mike D’Antoni and he will always use 8 player rotations. What killed the Knicks is defense, lack of size and that they are just a mediocre team. Most guys on New York are first options on bad teams, which makes them look like good players, but they would be much better as complimentary guys rather than go to players. I am not knocking D’Antoni as a coach, I find his system very player friendly and fun to watch, but to go anywhere in it your personnel needs to be top notch. Add in Sessions and Wafer, you are still not upping the ability to the level it takes to be sucessful team in the league.

I agree with that two, because the Knicks, while they were the best scoring team in the East, they were the worst defensively. They play less defense now, then when Isiah was coaching. By adding Sessions and Wafer, they will compete for at least the 8th seed, because of the sole fact that its the East. People have to realize, that yes the East has gotten better, but the Atlantic division has not. Other than the Celtics, the only other team that has a legit shot at making it above 40 wins are the 76ers.

I don’t like the system the Knicks play only because I am a believer in defense winning championships, but the system has proven successful and if the Knicks can find a couple of good defenders that fit the system, they should be pretty sucessful.

    That’s a great point.

Pistons- Have fallen from grace, but I like Austin Daye and they did make good with there other draft picks. They shouldn’t have traded Budinger IMO.

Bobcats- Really improved, out of all the teams, I think that they have the best chance of making the playoffs as an 8th seed.

Pacers- I like them as well, if Granger can turn it up some more and stay healthy, they may make the 8th seed.

Nets- I think they will finish 2nd to last in the Atlantic. They have a nice young core though, led by Devin Harris.

Bucks- I think that they will finish last in the central. They lost a guy in Villanueva in which the ball flows through his hands for offense more than anyone in the league (official stat given by ESPN, I forgot the percentage in which it does though) and they let go of who was in fact starting PG material for them in Sessions (I kno more Sessions talk but lets be real he was the best PG on that team.) If Redd and Bogut can stay healthy though they will make a run for the 8th and who knows maybe even the 6-7 seed in the playoffs. Bogut is the best passing Center in the league, and we all know that Michael Redd is one of the best shooters in the NBA. It all depends on the health factor for the Bucks.

I don’t see how the knicks are better then the Bucks (if healthy). I mean Jennings, Redd, Mbah a moute, …, Bogut. They only really have a worse pf. Everything else is about equal or better. I don’t know much about either bench but they can’t be that good.

The knicks have no bench either. Jennings is gonna be average at least and you have nothing better then an average pg. Redd off an acl injury is still better then anyone on the Knicks roster and Mbah Moute doesn’t need to score he will just lock down Gallinari. You don’t have an advantage at any position other then pf.

How do you know that, you said it yourself, he is coming off an ACL injury. Plus he also tore his MCL. The ACL is the most important ligament in sports because it deals with turns and changing speeds. So he can’t come off of screens as well as he used to if that has a detrimental effect. Because of his knee injury and the fact that we don’t know how its affected him, that alone makes the Bucks favorites to finish last.

Now I do believe that if he returns to form, and Bogut can have a healthy season and put up numbers he had a year ago (He has improved every year he was in the league), then the Bucks could make some noise.

Having a shooter at %70 is dumb, just for the record. But hell I would rather have Al Harrington. He has 20 and 7 boards a game. Larry Hughes may shoot worse than Redd, but he is more versatile and is a MUCH better defender than Redd.

Just what is the point you were trying to make there? Having a %70 healthy Michael Redd means he won’t average 20+ points a game, he won’t get 1 steal and won’t have any assist let alone 2 a game.

Redd could go through another injury plagued season. Whens the last time he played excellent consistently. They are losing their 2 best players from last season. The Knicks have only gotten better and people forget that they made alot of moves and didnt have their finished roster until half way through the season. It takes time to build chemistry. Jennings isnt going to step right in and make the bucks better.

To say Michael Redd is just a shooter is stupid. You must just listen to people talk about him and never see him play. He is very effective at getting to the basket and drawing fouls. He is a better passer then given credit for. Go ahead and take Al, Bucks are still the better team.

Michael Redd’s main strength, was, is, and will always be shooting 3’s. That’s his calling card, that is what the Bucks are paying him 91 million dollars for, hell that’s how he hurt his knee. He comes off screens and he hits jumpers. I’m not saying he doesn’t take it to the hole, but his FTA and 3PTA are pretty much on par with one another.
