Taking a look at this years draft class and team needs there’s not a lot of guys that really have stuck out to me during this process of working out for teams. I have to make it my point to say that after observing this years guard class , malcom lee sticks out as the prospect that will have the most value to his team. 6″4 guard that can play the one and two spot is a lock down defender ,super athlete with an improved jump shot.it’s evident throughout these workouts that he has shown his ability to dominate these guards that are smaller in size but have bigger names. The body of work that the guards coming out of Ben’s system is not intriguing to the scouts at glance , but when you take a look at the latest trend of guards to come out and make the leap to the next level they have flourished beyond all expectations .Westbrook and holiday are the latest examples where as holiday average 8.2 ppg. Malcom has gone up against all the guards that you all have listed in the first round and it has been no contest ,shelvin Mack , Nolan smith , kemba walker, Josh shelby, jammer , and much more and it hasn’t been close . But to still have him projected in the second round doesn’t make sense to me .

from what i heard, he played very well in workout, impressing yesterday at SLC for his defense

seems to be one of few valuable player in a weak draft

He’s probably one of the biggest sleepers in this draft in my opinion. Whoever gets him is gonna be pleasantly surprised with what he brings to the table.

Westbrook and Collison were limited at UCLA because of Darren Collison. Lee was limited because he has no perimeter shot and is a bad point guard, and that is why despite all this odd love heaped his way UCLA was a mediocre team with Lee and quite good with Collison.

when writing these forums its all opinions of fans, students, journalist, and guys that actually played the game i respect your opion on this subject but to be fair to malcom , one cannot pin point a particular season in which lee ran to point enough to judge him as a bad point . its safe to say west brook got his break when collison went down with injury and he wqas able to show in limited time he can manage a team as a lead guard. truth be told the kid is not a point guard (westbrook ) he’s a fearless scorer that brings the ball up the court . he’s attack first to score …deferring to durrant at times when he’s in trouble , so he’s still a work in progress if he can learn how to create for others to get open looks. as for malcoms jump shot, three months have been spent with preparing for the draft and a weakness that has improved in his game is the ablility to knocked down open shots inwhiched iive witnessed myself. Ive also witnessed a controlled system at ucla, front row and center and every possession down the court there was a play called . college is a game of systems and if your not in the right system a lot of times attributes are overlooked.

I think Malcolm Lee can have a Keyon Dooling-type NBA career. A long, athletic and quick combo guard who defends well and can get to the rim. I agree that’s not a very good shooter or a real PG though, and adding more weight wouldn’t hurt.

He was the starting point guard for two years. When did he show you someone looking like an NBA point guard? I didn’t see it. He is an athlete who can defend, and that will get him a shot in the league. It might even get him drafted in the first round. It doesn’t change the fact that I don’t think he can run an NBA offense effectively. That is a inhibiting factor in someone who is ideally suited to play the point. It also hurts when think of him as a potential shooting guard that he does not have range on his shot.

I would take Reggie Jackson, Nolan Smith, Norris Cole and even Charles Jenkins before Lee with my eyes closed.

He doesn’t look like a PG to me, and his shooting ability is just horrendous

Not that I’m arguing for or against Malcolm lee as a pg, but to set the record straight he only played pg for half a season
