Bankroll PJParticipantThis kid is extremely talented and I think he will be a pro. He’s 6’6, long, good shooter and ball handler, and plays with a lot of confidence. After watching his past two games I thought for sure that’s he’s a 1st round prospect and I see the site currently has him listed as the #17 pick. Then i pumped the brakes a bit after looking at his stats on the season. He’s shooting an ugly 36% from the field and 35% from 3 and has as many assist as turnovers. He’s clearly raw and is probably 3 years away from helping an NBA team win, but this kid is talented. Other than Buddy Hield and Jamal Murray, I don’t think any other 2 guard has a higher ceiling. If i had a pick in the 20s, I’d definitely takes him, therefore the #17 pick doesn’t sound like too much of a reach. What do you guys think of him?

kazamParticipantI really like Richardson, he is a bit wild like JR Smith but can really get hot. I like him as a prospect but I think that Korkmaz and Luwawu both have a chance to be very good players at the next level, more so than Richardson. He is a scorer, and maybe he becomes Nick Young or JR. I’m not sure about his basketball IQ or his defensive abilities.

GBeeParticipantLooks like a less athletic Nick Young to me. Good size for a wing, good length, isn’t lacking for confidence, enough ball skills to create his own jump shot, but man his IQ is really low and his floor game sucks. The majority of his offense is difficult/forced shots which is a major reason for his crappy percentages. Streaky is an understatement, he just happened to be on a good one, but with his IQ, what he did vs UVA was more likely just a flash, not something projectable or sustainable. He’s just an OK athlete too. Lacks explosion both in terms of first step and vertically. For someone who was billed as a shooter coming out of HS he has some really bad misses at times, like wide left or right airballs which makes me question the purity of his shot. Most pure shooters miss short or long and are almost always on the rim, not missing wide left or right. He also has no in between game at all (22% on 2pt jumpers). Could be because of his relatively low release, which could also explain why he’s reliant on rhythm shots off the bounce and really deep 3s. His release mitigates his length when it comes to shooting. He isn’t a great finisher either.
If he declares I hope my team doesn’t consider him despite needing a 2.

machu46ParticipantI think you pretty much nailed it. It kinda makes me laugh that shooting roughly 30% from the field and 25% from 3 in the tourney (going into last night) is considered a good streak though. He’s a good college player, but I’d be scared if I’m the team that takes him with a first round pick. And considering he had basically no draft attention this year, I would think it makes a ton of sense for him to return for another year and try to prove he can be a consistently good player.

MopgrassParticipantHis shot is not just statistically inconsistent, he physically shoots it differently all the time. He also runs right into traffic to score without the elevation, strength, or skill to save himself: hence all the turnovers. I still like him as a prospect, but he is in no way ready now.

Ballboy HypeParticipantRichardson is very talented, but another year of college basketball would do. Needs to fine-tune his ball-handling along with being a consistent outside shooter if he wants to play at the next level. Nonetheless, the kid can flat out score and has a competitive spirit.

nill650Participantif he works he could be a lottery pick next year,at this point probably still get first round considerations somewhere 20-40 if declares.
