llperezno they’re not playing anytime soon that i know of. But i just think these are 2 veteran teams that are both legit contenders that are kinda going under the radar as other teams pass them up in the recognition department. SO i want to know, who do guys think is better between these two teams.
Magic-Dwight may never become the most reliable go to man down low, but even modest improvement at the offensive end would help and he is still the most dominant defenisve force in the league. Quentin richardson could hopefully provide the outside shooting this team relies so heavily on and that barnes did not provide in the playoffs consistently last year. Jameer is capable of winning the pg battle on any given night. Lewis and vince should both be motivated after sub par playoff performances as well. Duhon returns to being a solid backup instead of a poor starter and if brandon bass, jj redick and ryan andersen continue to improve, there could be some internal improvement for this team.
projected starters:
pf-rashard lewis
sf-quentin richardson
c-dwight howard
sg-vince carter
pg-jameer nelson
bench:chris duhon, jason williams, jj reddick, mikael pietrus, brandon bass, ryan andersen, marcin gortat, malik allen, stanley robinson

Mavericks-Dirk is still one of the best scorers in the league and while kidd is slowing down, he still makes sure the team gets quality possesions. Having caron butler and brendan haywood for a full year should really help. Marion and jason terry are both solid backups who can be game changers. Tyson chandler adds another defensive presence inside. Roddy beaubois and Dominique Jones will battle for the starting sg spot and look to provide enrgy to an old backcourt.
pf-dirknowitzki
sf-caron butler
c-brendan haywood
sg-roddy beaubois
pg-jason kidd
bench-jj barea, jason terry, dominique jones, deshawn stevenson, shawn marion, steve novak, shawn marion, tyson chandler,

Michael.S.ParticipantClose, but I’ll say the Magic. The Mavs just have too many if’s, Kidd is 36 now? Dirk is probably still gonna to be going strong next season, but they just don’t have anyone else reliable night after night outside of him…

IndianaBasketballParticipantBoth teams are deep, but I feel like I know what I’m going to get with Dallas. They’ll have a great regular season, but disappoint in the playoffs. They’ll lose in the first or second round.
The Heat are the favorites to come out of the East, but those people counting out Orlando are making a mistake. They’ll play with a chip on their shoulder due to all of the attention the Heat are getting in a division they’ve owned recently. I get the feeling that the entire organization is going into the season with a chip on their shoulders. I’m expecting Dwight Howard to have the best season of his career.

sacphil_08ParticipantI agree on these teams. I’ve always said the mavericks if they could pull it all together can be the only real threat to the lakers. Mind you theyd have to play almost perfectly and the lakers would have to screw up for anything major to happen. The thing holding back dallas is who can you rely on other than dirk to get you big buckets in a half court situation. The mavs are one of the better teams at getting easy buckets in transition but in the half court other than dirk who will create a shot and hit it? butler was brought in for that but we have yet to see if he is still the same as before. Orlando to me is the second best team in the east besides boston. Otis smith said it best when he said in regards to miami that they have a good three and he has a good 12. They are very deep and i expect both jameer nelson and rashard lewis to have bounce back seasons and play near the all star caliber levels they played at in 09.
