 Throwing this one out to all of the NBADraft.net forum experts out there: Name some good trade-up options for the Orlando Magic in this years draft. Remember, they have the 4th and 12th pick.

I personally like the idea of keeping the 4th and trading Afflalo and the 12th to either the Kings or Bobcats to move up for one of the second tier prospects (Smart, Randle, Vonleh, Gordon).

 The only thing that would be available from 8-10 would be redundant talent at the forward positions that might not be much better than what they already have. Right now, I think they are perfectly positioned at 12, which will give them an opportunity to select Dario Saric, who’d be a great fit for them.  With the length and passing ability he, Exum and the rest of the Magic supporting cast would present, they’d be a major problem in a few short years time (think Washington or Phoenix with an ability to be an elite 3 point shooting team).

 The magic are weak at the 3 and4. Tobias Harris is a good scorer and a decent rebounder, but Mo Harkless hasn’t shown much in the consistency/dependability department. Andrew Nicholson can’t stay in the rotation bc he drifts and isn’t aggressive on defense or on the glass. Kyle O’Quinn was decent at the end of the year. Getting a potential future AllStar at the 4 is by no stretch of the imagination redundant when we don’t have a great player at the 4 currently.

 Well, if the Magic want Jabari Parker or Wiggins, they could trade the 4th pick and the 12th pick for the 2n pick and the 31st pick. The Bucks have mentioned that they want Dante Exum and they could add another player to their team devoid of a direction. The Magic could get a role player at 31.

I think they should stay put, they could get two starters potentially at 4 and 12. Why not just stick to their guns and trust their scouts and front office. Take BPA at 4 and at 12 you could try and get a shooter(stauskas, young, Harris) or go for a playmaker( saric). Trading up can be enticing but Magic need help in major areas and they can address those needs at the picks they already have.

but I think Aaron Affalo is almost in every trade scenrio for me involving them. Truthfully, it all depends on who they have their eyes on between the 5-9 picks. If it’s one particular player that you love, then trade Aaron and the 12th pick to get into that selection area. If not, just sit back and wait for whatever player falls to you. Also, I think all this is contingent on how they feel about Tobais Harris. If he’s a starting caliber player and if he’s a SF or PF. I have to admit I haven’t seen much of him this year, but heard he’s done well. If they see him as their PF of the future then stay put and select James Young or his tier SF’s. If they feel like he’s a SF, then trade up and select one of the PF that won’t be there at 12… IMO, the GM of the Magic have the easiest job in this draft. They don’t have to be worried about being too enamored by Exum and drafting him over the Big 3. And if the Cavs, Bucks, or Sixers are enamored with him then the Magic are instantly gift wrapped Embiid, Wiggins, or Jabari. They have assets where they could legitimately trade up and obtain 6-9 pick. The Sixers position is great too, but still risky if they love Exum the way people say they do. A lot of people go with their heart instead of using their brain, so I’m not too confident they will do the right thing.

No rebuilding teams would desire Affalo, he only has 1 year left, it would have to be a 3 way trade involving a contender. For instance Bulls get Affalo. Sacramento gets the Bulls 16 and Orlando 12. Orlando gets Sacramento 8.

Orlando at 8 now takes who is left of Randle/Vonleh/Gordon.  Btw Smart will be gone here, no way those 3 raw projects all go in front of him, better not mess around and get your PG at 4.

 Any trade up offer would have to be 4th and 12th involved as I don’t see them giving up Oladipo. The issue is that Philly may also be looking to trade up rather than trade down, Bucks desperately need a franchise player and I don’t see the Cavs giving up 1st pick to trade down.

If one of the top 3 teams were mad on Exum then a deal is possible most likely with Philly who could then perhaps use 10 and 12 to try and bounce back up the draft if Lakers or Boston were dealing.
