So I worked on a mock draft where I would select based on what I think is the best option, not what I think will happen. It’s more fun to voice my opinion than speculate on what teams may due although the ill get into that more as we get closer to the draft.

-My only rule was no trades, just keep it simple. Some teams might be better off trying to trade, but easier to follow this way.

This is my opinion, and yes there are some names that you’ll maybe roll your eyes at or be shocked I have someone so low, but it’s how I feel and what fun is it if I’m just spouting out the same mock draft. It’s not radically different for the most part.

The second round is basically a big board of sorts, at that point it’s sorta a free for all.

I put in some work into this with reasoning and write ups with comparisons, probably nothing you haven’t heard by now but still I’d really appreciate y’all giving it a read and feedback. It’s just opinions and I’d love to talk about it. Thanks.

So I have some questions for you.

First, what are your critiques of Jerian Grant and Delon Wright? To me they seem like first round talents. If I’m the Rockets or the Bulls I’m definitely picking them up.

Second, why are you so high on HernanGomez or whatever his name is? I haven’t seen a lot of him so I kind of just accept what I hear. Everyone else seems to think borderline first round but you think lottery talent. What do you think a player comparison might be for him?

Third, Doesn’t it seem like run and jump centers without very much skill are doing pretty well in the NBA? Larry Bird thought that WCS might be a max player one day. I can see why you would compare him to McGee but Javale is on the alltime stupid team. If you give his talents to anyone with average intelligence they will become a quality starting center. I feel WCS is not as dumb as McGee and you have him undervalued big time.

I’m way higher on Christian Wood than you because of his stretch 4 potential, but I could see him slipping.

I’m also high on Olivier Hanlan and I think the Spurs will draft him in the first round. The dude seems mature and ready to contribute to in the NBA as a backup guard. Can’t ask much more than that out of a late 1st rounder

Overall I liked your mock. I like that you have the balls to be different, as most of these mocks have everyone placed neatly in their "range", even though the actual draft is always so much different than anyone would guess. I like that you have some bold picks on risers and fallers.

First, thanks for reading and the feedback and questions.

      – Wright/ Grant: they’re both seniors so that hurts their upside in comparison to other guards picked in the first. Also where guys are in the 2nd, don’t take too much stock into it as it becomes interchange at that point. For Wright his shooting is just really off putting, considering he’s already a senior. Grant, he was right there with a lot of those guys who went late first, so the separation really isn’t that big but I don’t see him as a great athlete and someone who lacks a consistent jumper and an inability to play off the ball.

-WCS: I don’t think he nowhere near a dumb as McGee, but I do see lack of focus and was very inconsistent at UK even last season, he would have no impact. He’s a one way player, who’s defense is being a little overblown. Guys like DeAndre Jordan and Tyson Chander are great athlete for their size, but are very smart players on defense and "quarterback" the defense. WCS still to me just seems like a big time shot blocker who’s prone to mistakes but can make up so due to athletic ability. Chris Anderson might be a better comparison.

-Wood: he’s really skinny and I don’t think he has the frame to put on the needed muscle.

-Hanlannwas someone I liked a little more than I had him. But players like him are a dime a dozen, he’ll just have to become effective and effeciant to cut it, but I think he will.

Almost forgot, Henangomez. He rwill do the dirty work and won’t need the ball to help your team, yet you need those guys to help you with. Plus he’s smart and a good passer. Sorta like Noah or Gasol for his position so he can make some plays. I really love his ability to mix it up down low and he won’t get pushed around. There are guys with more potential or talent, but he’s team first, and he’s the kinda role player that fills out your team in that hes not one dimensional

If SVG takes Bobby Portis over Stanley Johnson, Ron Jeremey should be allowed to coach 10 games of his choice this year.
