Will he get drafted this year. my impressions are that he is an excellent shot blocker okay rebounder. He needs to put on weight and develop his offense but he could be a very good big man a few years down the road what are your impressions.

If Whiteside did not get minutes early on because of his side and raw ability Nogueira will probably be a player that will see small minutes in his first and secound years if that.  I dont think he will be a key contriutor until his 4th year.  It took better players that had smaller frames at Center and Bynum at least 3 years to work everything out.

He will get drafted if he stays in the draft, we will see in the next couple days if he does. He is still a couple years away though, his thin frame is a huge weakness right now and would get pushed around by NBA centers all night long. If he could put on a lot of muscle and develop his post skills, jumper, and other part of his offensive game I think he will be a very good player.

I’d love for the Rockets to pick him up and stash him overseas or in Brazil

He’s a project who will not be strong enough to compete on an NBA floor for 3 more years. Sure he can block shots and he’s mobile for a 7′ guy. But his offense is raw, he’s extremely weak and narrow, and he’s a bit too foul and turnover prone. He’s a younger Hassan Whiteside. I would also hope he’s a SMARTER, younger Hassan Whiteside. That way he can figure out how to develop and grow up enough for a coach to trust him on an NBA floor when he makes progress.

I think Washington might take him in round 2.

There has never really been STEROID news in the NBA like in MLB and NFL….As a fan of all sports, I want to see the best of the best compete, I could care less how athletes achieve there abilities…if they want to put their life in harms way to become a better athlete and earn more $$$, then I’m all for it…So maybe LUCAS should look into small dosage of roids to get his weight up a little quicker because if not, I dont see him adding enough bulk to compete efficiently in the NBA.

Steroids have a profound effect on your health. They are not healthy and can cause serious problems.

I am sure a team would draft him late 1st or early 2nd.  However, he should stay in Europe for 2 more years.  A lot of raw European players made mistakes by coming too early.  At least he needs to be able to consistently contribute in the highest level in Europe before he should consider coming to the NBA.

He’s definatly a project but one you wouldnt mind putting a few years into develping by the sounds of it.

Late first or early second rounder.

^^^They make your nuts smaller, and according to Chris Benoit cause erratic behavior. Randy Savage would say they have a bad effect on your heart. That’s all beside the point. Bebe reminds me a lot of Tyson Chandler when he was into the league. If players still came out of high school, I’d think he’d be a hihger pick, but with teams less eager to invest time into project bigs these days due to the Sene,Ajinca,Thabeet types that come and go. Ultimately he either get’s pick late first and stashed by a team like, Hou,Port,OKC or he’ll fall into the second just as Whiteside last year, and DeAndre before him.

here is some information about Bebe and his contract that I read few days ago from STEVE KYLER from Hoopsworld

    jamie in in:
will Lucas Nogueira come over right away or will he say overseas and what team can we see him go to and is it because he 7’0 he in firstround because he seem too small
    Steve Kyler:

Lucas’ buyout goes up dramatically next season so if he gets a first round commit, and I think he has it from Dallas at #26, I think he stays in.

Everyone in his life calls him “Bebe”, in fact when you refer to him as Lucas they pause for a second.

I spoke with his camp early in the process and they said they were looking for the right situation for Lucas and a team that has some development infrastructure which the Mavs have with Donnie Nelson owning the Legends.

Not sure he’s going to workout for many teams.

Lucas is not small at all… in fact he looks like he was thrown in a taffy puller… He is very long and skinny.. so adding weight will be a priority.

Lucas has been training with Mike Moreau out in LA, and Coach Mike speaks the world of the kid… I’ll take Coach Mike’s word to the bank.

btw ,I don’t consider Steve a reliable source, that said Lucas is working with this coach Mike who is working with hoopsworld too,so I guess he knows more

his contract might affect his career tbh,he needs to stay 1 or 2 years overseas but this buyout will probably force him to go to the NBA early
also spending last season i such low league wasn’t good for his development,
but he did well in the pre-season with the first team

^^^If he gets a promise from Dallas at 26, I could see him devloping quite nicely learning behind Tyson. Even if he doesn’t put too much weight on he could still end up a Camby type albeit less guard skills.

Roids don’t make you get a jumper or an offensive skill set.  If Lucas started to juice he’d just be a D.J. Mbemga at this point in his development.  One of his criticisms his how thin he is, but he’s not a polished player at all.

I’m anti steroids in professional sports.  Strongman competitions, Pro Wrestling, Bodybuilding and Powerlifting steroids is understood, but I want to see players utilize their natural abilities when competing.  After all these years, steroids can be used a way that is more responsible than in the past, but over use leads to a lot of problems and people often love the super human abilities roids give you and are un willing to cycle off even when they are finished competing.  That kind of prolonged usage leads to depression and mood changes. The liver and kidneys are effected in a negative way.  Do some research and look at all the professional wrestlers and body builders who died of liver or kidney failure in their 40’s and 50’s. Testicles shrink no matter what because they are not needed to produce testosterone anymore and acne is another small side effect.

Steroids can be very beneficial for medical use, and are understood in the culture of strength sports, but I am very adamant about that culture not finding it’s way into the NBA.  Roids aren’t going to make a player learn to shoot, dribble, or improve Bball IQ , there are plenty of raw athletes in the NBA who can’t get PT because they can’t play the game.  I just feel like a bunch of guys who are stronger, bulkier and more erradic wouldn’t make basketball any better at all, while at the same time making those players’ potentially worse after retirement.

Thats true about cycling off steroids but people that use them understand that. If you eat to much sugar you’ll have negative side effects or just about anything else, but steroids are just testosterone a natural chemical found in the body, once people stop using your body goes back to normal.
