The Rockets acquired Lou Williams from the Lakers in exchange for Corey Brewer and a 1st round pick. What are your thoughts on this?

He was made to play for D’Antoni. Not sure how I feel about getting smaller though.

I’m sure this’ll really help their perimeter defense in the playoffs. Steph, Klay, and even Livingston being guarded by Lou, Gordon, and Harden is definitely a good idea. Bev too but he won’t be playing if they need some points

My question is does Gordon move into the starting line-up?

I think it would be a good idea as he plays starters minutes most of the time anyway and I think he can score as well if not better with that starting crew. Williams can pick up the slack for them in terms of bench scoring.

Unless the Lakers were just ready to get rid of Lou Williams, I feel like they didn’t get nearly enough in return. Great move for the Rockets, though, as they now have the two highest bench scorers in the league now.

In looking at the Cousins trade, it’s been a buyer’s market. You’d think L.A. could get a pick in the 15-20 range. Guess not. I wonder who pulled the trigger on this. Magic?

Great move by the Rockets. Harden may even be able to rest a bit, Lou could go nuts under D’Antoni.

To be honest, good move by both. Brewer is a vet that LA could use and they get a 1st rd pick back, thats always a positive when you have such a young team

Brewer might not have much of a future with the Lakers, but for the time being he at least brings some much needed perimeter defense, an aspect they are sorely lacking right now. He is another guy that could function in sort of a mentor role for ingram. The pick will likely be in the 23-26 range, not necessarily ideal, but there have have been plenty of impact players drafted in that range through the years.

It just didn’t make any sense for LA to keep Williams. While he was having a phenomenal season, he just didn’t fit with the rebuilding process. He takes mins and responsibilities away from the younger players they are trying to develop. Clarkson should now step into his sixth man role. I was hoping for a slightly higher pick, but getting anything of value in return for him is a plus imo.

I’m kind of surprised he went to Houston, considering they already have Gordon to fill seemingly a similar role. There are always shots to go around in dantonis system, but Williams role will likely not be what it was in LA and he will likely play off the ball a lot more. They get didn’t exactly get better defensively with this move, which would seem to be an area of need. Interesting trade. We’ll see how it works out.

Great move by LA. They really didn’t need Lou on that team. Brewer is a good guy for Ingram to learn from. The 1st round pick is a good return for him as well.

For the Rockets they get more offensive firepower with Lou Williams and a very good contract going forward. Brewer hasn’t gotten much run there and the pick doesn’t mean much to them as they are in a mindset yo compete for a championship.

The main reason this is a good trade for the Lakers is because is gets them a better chance of keeping the top 3 protected draft pick. Lou Williams kept the Lakers in many games and won a handful as well.  Cory Brewer and a late 1st round pick isn’t the greatest return, but it’s better than nothing and if the Lakers keep their top 3 pick, this trade is a home run for the Lakers.

Lakers made this move for the draft pick. I thought they could have gotten a better one for Lou.   Will Brewer cut into Ingram minutes?

This is the first step of insuring a top three pick in the draft.  I would say Lonzo Ball is the target unless Kobe says otherwise.
