Bankroll PJParticipantI watched the Hoophall Classic yesterday on TV and came away most impressed by this kid. While his team plays a style of basketball that most college coaches probably hate, his talents still shine and he showed to be the best player on the court. He had a triple double with 18 assists and his team won by 30. While Lonzo’s assists numbers are bloated because his two younger brothers leak out for layups and shoot every time they touch the ball, he is indeed a special passer. However, I was more impressed by his athleticism and rebounding ability. Most highly touted players rebound well simply because they are the best athlete on the court, but this kid actually boxes out and goes to get rebounds out of his area. The only negatives i saw with his game is his shot selection (he shot a couple 3’s from near mid court) and his shot mechanics. I won’t say he’s the best PG in this HS class because I never saw Dennis Smith play, but he’s definitely at the top of the conversation with Smith, De’Aron Fox, Kobi Simmons, and Markelle Fultz and Malik Monk, if you consider the latter two players future lead guards.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantHe might be the best passer I have seen come out of the hs ranks in over a decade (and that is not an exaggeration). He really sees the floor and more importantly knows exactly how to deliver the ball to an open teammate. You can say that his assist numbers are inflated due to the style of play but when you watch the way he is able to deliver full court passes basically on point almost every time its pretty amazing to watch. Those are extremely difficult passes to make and he makes them look easy.
It’s kind of hard to get a read on how his game will translate due to the style of play. There are definitely aspects he will need to clean up, such as the mechanics on his shot, and his tendency to be kind of loose with the ball. However, with his combination of size, vision, instincts and bball iq I think we could be looking at a special player.

KingPapasParticipantBest PG in 2016 class. He is overlooked per se because he didn’t play on the nike, adidas, or under armour circuit but the kid can play. His shooting mechanics are horrible but it goes in so i don’t see him changing it. Sort of like Shawn Marion. I have a bigger sample size of seeing him play being from California.
System will be big for him. He will need to be in a free flowing offense and allowed to improvise and run the pick and roll.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantLove Lonz . Vision is excellent and has great size. Could be the next Jason Kidd. Will be interested to see how UCLA uses him with Holiday, Alford, Ali and Hamilton. They could run a 4 guard set like Villanova use to do and have Welsh or Leaf at the 5..

DukeDaSquadParticipantAccording to ESPN he is now the number 1 point guard which I kind of saw coming as you can tell by my thread that I made about him. He is definitely one of my favorite HS players of all time
