    sportstearsinourbeers.blogspot.com/2011/06/nba-lockout-we-dont-care.html

Are you upset about it? Don’t care? Crying because you live for the NBA? I think there is a going to be a huge mix if emotions with this. More so than with the NFL lockout. If anything, I kind of feel bad for the new rookie players, but for the most part, I don’t care.

It’s millions of $$$ shouldn’t be that hard to make everyone happy.

I think it’s things like this that make college sports that much more enjoyable.

    Thoughts?

Try to think as if in their shoes. If you were a player, yes, some earn millions, but many earn 450k min. now that’s not a small amount, but hey, why would you want your salary to go down. You fight for your money as if you were earning 45k. as for the owners, a lot of them lose money, so you see the point…

Have this whole thing twisted and are not realizing that the owners are trying to force the players into a pretty damn bad deal. Owners are divided against those making money and those not making money, or large market versus small market. I feel the changes the NBA would need to make are minor as far as the CBA is concerned, and the owners want to make MAJOR ones. They do not want this too make things more fair as much as they want to a larger piece of the pie. So, I have little sympathy for them, and while I do not think the players will starve in the mean time, it is of course better for them to get back to work sooner than later. That is why I feel this lock out will probably be solved, and even if there is a shortened season, there will be a 2011-12 NBA season. It is best for everyone involved.

As for me, I am not too upset, but I would like it too be solved sooner rather than later. I enjoy the NBA and I think it is a league full of the best basketball players in the world. I feel the players should make more money as a group than the owners, and I will be glad to see that remain. 30 NBA Teams, 450 potential NBA players, not to mention retired players on pension. The deal the owners are trying to force is garbage, and there lack of flexibility is what is causing this lock out. Whatever deal gets made, the owners always win.

The NBA owners have a legit argument if 22 teams are actually loosing money. While i think NFL teams most of them make money. So ya i think we are in for a long battle. I read some where KG talked about sitting out a whole year and giving up his 18 million. Both sides are strapped in and ready to go. Plus i heard the owners will take everything off the table they put on if the lockout happens. So a lock out happens, and we are going to regress in the situation? It is going to be a long battle. I am so sick of listening to the NFL lock out,  now we have this? When an episode of sportscenter offically has more then 4 lawyers or legal analyst getting significant air time, you know its bad. Here is the site about league owners taking back recent offers, it was on The Daily as well.

That is true. I wondering if things like this make college kids want to stay in school longer.

Im all for a lockout. I would rather the players (you know the people that ultimately are the sport) get their money, those greedy bastards are the ones fans should be mad at. The owners are just cheapass pricks, they want more money. The amount they are trying to cut from the players salaries is pretty damn large too from what Im hearing.

Ya know what I don’t care anymore. I’m really tired of this crying poverty from people who are very wealthy. Most of the NBA players know what real poverty is and so do I.

The NBA owners and David Stern are full of it!!!

Yes I agree they made some stupid concessions to the players. But you cannot have it all back overnight.

Some players are really their own worst enemy and have been part of the problem. But from what I see signing a player like Oden who is an injury waiting to happen to an 8 million dollar contract and then turn around and say we are not making money sends a very mixed message to me. They can have a player who does not get injured and is there every game for about 1-2 million. So why spend 8 on a player who is always hurt, then tell everyone how much money they are losing…….sounds like BS to me.

If they are losing money which I doubt it is because of poor money management on their part. The NBA is setting world wide records for the buying of team jerseys and TV viewership. So something is wrong and it smells like a dead rat.

The NBA will cut their nose to spite their face if they get their way. Like Hockey, it will never ever be as popular as it is now. It’s at a peak and they are losing money, some thing is wrong and blaming the players and trying to make them the villain is not the way to fix this mess.

I have stated here before that the history of sport team ownership is not about making money. For those who understand it’s about assets. Like owning more homes than you can live in. It’s assets, it’s about having your money invested and not liquid. It’s about tax breaks and showing a loose on the books. Owning a sports team is not about making money just the opposite and it never was about making money.

Owning a sports team is a luxury to be used like a yacht or a mansion. You don’t become rich owning a sports team you buy one to prove how rich and powerful you are. An example of that is Prohkorov with the Nets .

For those who live in an alternate universe like the new NBA owners if they think they will ever really get their teams on a profit margin like any other business they are truly living in another dimension. The minute they try they will learn the hard lesson, to make money you have to spend money. Losing teams with bad players and bad management are NOT going to be a profitable endeavor.

Like a bad business, a bad team just will not make money, especially if they are in a city that does not support the team. These morons just don’t get it, this is basic business sense.

This would be career threatning fall for Oden, in fact, I am not sure whether he would make it.

Bad decisions in the past have caused these events and today’s announcement. No matter the system a bad owner/front office will screw it up, they have been losing money, and they want the playersto take a pay cut,and then not get a raise at any time for 10 years.  Somehow that makes sense, and still no talk of a revenue sharing system.

I don’t blame Stern,he has to do the owners bidding, its his job. I personally don’t think he agrees with the way things are structured, and feels changes can be made . But a lockout is killing everything that has been building up since the 07’/08′. This one could turn the NBA into the NHL.
