The past week has been crazy in regards to Jeremy Lin and the hype surounding him. Everyone has been growing crazy, and even more so after last night, but lost in all of the hoopla, is that this kid is more than the real deal.

I feel that he really has the ability to keep up this level of productivity and efficiency, not in the sense that he’ll be averaging 25+ points when Melo comes back, but in the sense that he will be a very high level point guard that will continue to run D’Antoni’s system flawlessly.

I have no doubt thathe can average 18 and 8 with Melo and Amare, and this is because he is really good at reading the defense and knowing when the other point will go over or under the screen. And his ability to hit that midrange jumshot the wqay he did yesterday is pricless. If he can continue to hit that with consistency, gusy will forced to go over the screen, which opens lanes for him to drive and find the dive man, which more than likely will be Stoudemire.

The only concern I have is that Anthony will absolutly destroy any rhythem or ball movement they have. The biggest difference with Lin at the Point is the ball movement, the ball is going from side to side, guys are cutting and setting screens, they need to get Melo in the flow of this offense also.

Stoudemire will feel like he is back in heaven shen he comes back on  Monday. It’ll be a lot of fun for him to run the P and R with Lin, cause Lin finds the man in the right spots. It’s no coincidence that Tyson Chandler has all of a sudden started looking so much better, or that Jared Jeffries is actually getting some points offensively. Idealy, Anthony would be the guy that draws guy with his pump fake in the mdrange area, and then either get to his spot for a shot, or attack the basket and drive.

Lin is the real deal, and I think his ability to run the Pick and Roll and his craftiness around the basket along with his above average defense is why I think the Knicks just found a gem, a guy they could build around along with Stoudemire and Anthony.

Dragonball Z… I’m just kidding haha. Lin has looked really good and is proving he has a very high basketball IQ and it all depends on how much Melo wants to win. He’s seen what this kid is capable of doing and if he wants to win, he’s gotta learn that the game doesn’t revolve around him and he DOES need help. Until they played Lin, this team was circling the drain looking like they wouldn’t even make the playoffs but now, the team has the Tebow effect, everyone is rallying around him and everyone believes in him and what they can all do, Novak has put up good numbers even, not to mention the fact that the Knicks are now playing good team defense too (well… better than what they were playing before).

Watching Lin at Harvard his senior year,i felt he could play in the nba as a backup, but i had doubts if any team would draft him, becuz of the competition level in the Ivy league…

He opened eyes at the summer league and alot of teams were interested insigning him becuz of his play, showing great shooting skills and court vision and a very high knowledge for reading defenses..

He played well at GS but got caught up in a numbers game with a team already loaded with players with skills similar to his..Also the same thing during his short stint with the Rockets playing behind Lowry,Dragic and Flynn..D’Antonio’s system is tailormade for Lin’s skills…

Right now,he’s been playing well, but let’s wait until late March to see if he continues this run ..Becuz during his hot streak he’s been guarded by the likes of

Steve Blake & Derek Fisher,John Wall,Deron Williams and both Devin Harris & Raja Bell at moments during the Jazz game..Raja Bell who use to be an elite defender, but not the top notch defender he was in the past………

I loved his halftime interview, when he was like, "I’ll take a look at the film and see what we need to work on.", and Doris Burke or whoever it was was like, "Right Now?", and Lin was like, "Yeah, of course."

Melo is always at his best when he has a true facilitator, his best production in Denver came when Andre Miller and Chauncey Billups were running the show, when Allen Iverson came he had his most non-efficient years because there was too much isolation

In New York people are saying he’s running too much iso problem is there was no structure, they wanted him to be the point forward but also score which meant the ball was going to be in his hands, you can give a scorer the ball and expect him to pass it and not touch it again then come down and do it again and then again, Melo like Durant/Kobe/Wade need to establish rhythms and get going which is what Lin will do for him.

I think Melo goes back to the form he had in 08-09 when Billups came, I can see him going for 26/8/4 the rest of the season

Letting Melo start the offense was a bad idea,he’s a good passer, but he’s also 1 of the most well rounded offensive players in the nba..And having him set up teammates and look for his offense at the same time, took away from his aggressiveness..

He’s obviously been impressive, but how can this kid keep it up? If he’s really this good, how come 4 teams passed up on him (until New York) and he didn’t get drafted? He plays well, but he doesn’t have the athleticism or jump shot for me to see him being a big scorer too long.

It’s not the fact of who sticking him I dont think it is. I’m saying from looking at him spectators would say he’s not playing top defenders but his going through bigs also so therer must be a sneaky speed advantage his deceiving players with and ball handling ability  thats hard for people to defend you have to give him his props. But I do agree his numbers will come down rember devin harris’s first season on  new jersey when the dribble drive was introduced he went off.Up untill team start makeing defensive schemes for him after allstar break which will happen to lin.

I’m not going to hate on the kid. I have my own opinion, but I’d rather just wait it out first. I’ll reserve my feelings until the post season or after its over.

what the hell do you mean what??? I bet everyone is gonna forget how much they hyped this kid when he comes back to earth (when the Knicks still don’t make the playoffs). He’s gonna be a solid player, but saying you have no doubt he’s gonna be an 18 and 8 player in this league is a little ridiculous.

he’s been playing excellent. coming up clutch against pretty solid competiton. I really think he can keep this up the rest of the season. If he’s able to get Melo and Amare to finally mesh, this team is dangerous. Shumpert has also been playing extremely well, him and Landry should split minutes evenly at the 2. Both of them play excellent defense and can get to the rack in transition and at times in half court sets. The knicks just need to look to solidify their bench in the offseason or before the trading deadline.

I think people are looking at stat and not understanding that if all he does is pass and control the tempo like he has been doing, Knicks will win enough to get in the playoff.  They have more than enough weapons that he does not have to score but probablly will because most teams will double Amare, Melo.

Also I think he overall skill set suggest that he will continue to be a good passer and a player that stays within himself.

He does not need to be Derrick Rose.

Another thing is guess what happens if Knicks sign JR Smith for offense off the bench.  Also that one rookie big man that is hurt will be coming back as well.

Knicks will be deep and have the players to defend alright and score at will.  The could be contenders.

My worry for the Knicks was mostly that Chandler did not sign the big contract and start playing like garbarge.  I figured with all the veteran pg out there, they would at least land or trade for someone serviceable.

Who knew they would get one for less than a million.

Tyson Chandler is playing good and they have the point guard play they need.

They put up 92 points against Lakers without Melo, Amare, Baron Davis, Josh Harrellson(I think this is his name), and possibly JR Smith is he signs in New York instead of LA.  They could reasonably get back to scoring 100 plus points and hold teams to 97 or 98 points.  This should allow them to win more games than lose and at least get them the 7th or 8th spot.  Last lockout, Knicks went to the Finals as an 8th seed.  I am just saying.  If Knicks play to close to their talent shows, they are better or equal to Chi Town and Miami.  Those are really their only real threats at this point.

Trade melo for more depth?  I have a strong feeling that he will blackhole and destroy their current offensive rythmn when he comes back………….

You are right. Lin does not have to be Derrick Rose. But he does have to guard Derrick Rose, and that is something he will NEVER be able to come close to doing. Not saying anyone could really guard Rose that well, but most NBA players can a hell of a lot better than Lin.

what  the hell is wrong with people………….Jeremy Lin is ballin out of control so you wanna trade Melo lmao, how about we wait and see how the team works together, Melo will open things up even more for Lin to keep playing well, soon teams will adjust them Lin will facilitate more to STAT and Melo he changed the culture and if you watch the games you see Melo very excited for him on the bench cheering, smh people just like to say dumb shit on the internet

Kid’s been great – if he remains anywhere near this good, I’ll be amazed, but he’s been great.  Can we just accept that for now?  I assume things will change since the past is the best predictor of the future and this hasn’t ever really happened, and because Lin isn’t a great shooter, which makes him far easier to scheme against.  All that said, he should be enough to run D’Antoni’s system – I mean even the crappy Chris Duhon managed – for at least the year and make the Knicks quite good, even if he does come back down to earth.  If he remains more that’s fantastic, but he’s already found money.

Seriously, he should be in the game for everything he has done in 1 week.

Shaq or Chuck should pick him. David Stern do your magic and get him in the game.

Fans want to see him play.

Yeah, i got the feeling either Shaq or Barkley would pick him for their team, even though he’s not on either roster…

I can see it now Barkley win the coin toss and selects Blake..Shaq then takes Lin with the 2nd pick..

Barkley and Shaq argue and call in someone they discuss it have a big over dramatic scene, before finally deciding to let Lin in….

Easy his speed with the ball is deceptive  so defenders may think they have him under wraps untill he switches gears, goes around the pick  and the latteral foot speed of the defender is unable to keep up so he blows by.You dont have to be the chris paul fast to be fast with the ball look at kidd he touches the ball hits the picks hard  and either  passes, shoot, or makes a move to the basket in a blnk of and eye a team wont know what hit them and a score will be added to the board.

THE PPL who dont know this will say NO ONE HAS STUCK HIM really? when has that every been an excuse in the nba unless theres no man on him  he’s getting played up by not only  a nba gaurd  but  by nba team defense. So the spectators/fans are sometime simple minded to believe that "no one stuck him yet" theory. But once he’s a focal point of a defense  his number are coming down. We all know who does the scoring in NY.

Johnny Chill, that’s an interesting question, and now that I think of it, it could have been possible, but remember, D’Antoni’s offense is tailor made for a guy with Lin’s abilities. Nash went from a solid borderline All-Star to a legendary MVP after D’Antoni, and still plays in a system similar to that one.

As much as I kept hoping we would give Lin a chance, he wouldn’t have gotten one, and it would’ve just made things so confusing with our guard situation, but it is sort of crazy how two teams cut him in the last two months, but some guys are gamers, and he must’ve worked really, really hard in the summer, and he finally got his chance.
