If he was to re-enter, he’ll go no higher than 20, but wouldn’t fall out of the first round. He would be an idiot to do this because he would be out of a lot of dough going from a top-5 pick to a mid-1st rounder, but it would increase his chances of going to a favorable situation (i.e. playoff team).

It would be hilarious and stupid if this happened and Minnesota drafted him again. That would be wasting two draft picks for a guy that doesn’t want to play for you, which would also include trading Mike Miller and Randy Foye.

I don’t think he would sit out though. It would be basketball suicide. Even though I don’t think that Marbury is much of anything anymore. I think sitting out as long as he did, really messed up what game he did have left.

If he did do this, he would be a top 10 pick easily. I don’t care how good of a draft next year’s will be. He’s still going to only be 18 or 19 next year. He’s not coming into the NBA in his late 20s after years of professional basketball overseas like a guy like Scola.

If he was in the draft next year he cannot play for ANY foreign team, he has to sit out the entire year and not play professionally anywhere. This is not going to happen. Ricky Rubio will never be in the draft again. Plus if he did sit out he would still have to pay his team the early termination clause that is in his contract.

But even if he plays for another European club next year (as long as its FIBA sanctioned – which means any team that can afford to pay him) his NBA rights are still with Minnesota until he sits out a year not playing professional ball anywhere. Its not going to be easy for him to re-enter the NBA draft.

On another site several years ago there was a debate about Yi Jianlian perhaps re-entering the NBA Draft the next year as he did not want to play with the Bucks and I wondered if there was a total lockout whether it could maybe happen again next year with some of the players especially the European prospects.

I know it would be doubtful given the depth of next year’s drafts but if some players did perhaps want to get onto a better team then it could just be realistic. Could you imagine a few lottery team owners being happy with a lockout and then suddenly losing an unsigned 2011 draftee who decided to re-enter the draft!
