valentineWhere would u put him on your draft board?

butidonthavemoneyHe won’t re-enter. It doesn’t make any sense at all. What motivation does he have to re-enter the draft next season?
But he would drop big-time. If he didn’t play at all for a whole year and isn’t a sure thing he would fall out of the lottery for sure.

Mr. BasketballParticipanti would put him wherever the t’wolves are picking to make for the greatest moment in nba draft history.

MasrockThe only way he would resort to this is if he is dead set on never playing for Minnesota. Which would be retarded because he would lose a shit load of money by not being a top 5 pick again. Plus, I think Kahn has sold him on playing here.

draftnikParticipantIf he was to re-enter, he’ll go no higher than 20, but wouldn’t fall out of the first round. He would be an idiot to do this because he would be out of a lot of dough going from a top-5 pick to a mid-1st rounder, but it would increase his chances of going to a favorable situation (i.e. playoff team).

doubledribblerParticipantIt would be hilarious and stupid if this happened and Minnesota drafted him again. That would be wasting two draft picks for a guy that doesn’t want to play for you, which would also include trading Mike Miller and Randy Foye.
I don’t think he would sit out though. It would be basketball suicide. Even though I don’t think that Marbury is much of anything anymore. I think sitting out as long as he did, really messed up what game he did have left.
If he did do this, he would be a top 10 pick easily. I don’t care how good of a draft next year’s will be. He’s still going to only be 18 or 19 next year. He’s not coming into the NBA in his late 20s after years of professional basketball overseas like a guy like Scola.

bflaa2ParticipantI thought he had to stay with the wolves?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 3:25am #188387
kong47272ParticipantYeah I don’t think he can re-enter, as the Wolves own his rights
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 3:27am #188388

bflaa2ParticipantHe gets his rookie contract slated so he has to stay at least that many years and that contract doesnt start till he actually enters the NBA so Rrrrrrrricky we Gotcha!!!!

kcpimpdaddyParticipantIf he was in the draft next year he cannot play for ANY foreign team, he has to sit out the entire year and not play professionally anywhere. This is not going to happen. Ricky Rubio will never be in the draft again. Plus if he did sit out he would still have to pay his team the early termination clause that is in his contract.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 4:30am #188416
Basketballfuture22ParticipantRubio never signed a contract.
Rubio will most likely get bulk and re-enter. I see him more of a late lottery now.

dwat4444ParticipantMaybe he’ll drop to the Lakers…HAha that would secure a dynasty for a while
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 4:37am #188418

bflaa2ParticipantWhat did your comment mean QGotham15??????????? He has to sit out a whole year no pro basketball he will NOT do that NO way!!!!!!!!!!! Why would he enter the draft if he wasnt gonna play over here…. Rubio is coming to Sota baby!!!!!!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 4:39am #188420
Basketballfuture22ParticipantIf Minnesota cannot play his buyout, he cannot play for them. Someone has to pay the buyout. Either he plays in Spain, the T-Wolves pay the buyout or he may sit out the year
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 4:50am #188425

IndianaBasketballParticipantCouldn’t he also choose to play for another European club?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 4:53am #188428
Basketballfuture22ParticipantI dunno about that, I wouldnt think so because DKV still own his rights
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 4:55am #188429

IndianaBasketballParticipantI read somewhere that he could sign with a European club and unlike the NBA, they can pay way more towards his buyout. I want to say I read that on either ESPN or NBA.com.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 4:56am #188431
Basketballfuture22Participantoh, Ok..so then most likely he still in europe and play somewhere else
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 5:44am #188436

jaycee24ParticipantHeres an idea go to College for a year with all the millions he has from playin in Europe professionally to where ever he wants to go and walk on then enter the next year into the draft
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 5:48am #188437
kong47272ParticipantBut even if he plays for another European club next year (as long as its FIBA sanctioned – which means any team that can afford to pay him) his NBA rights are still with Minnesota until he sits out a year not playing professional ball anywhere. Its not going to be easy for him to re-enter the NBA draft.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 6:02am #188442

Toronto16ParticipantYou cant enter the draft twice, the heck is wrong with you? Minnesota has his rights so unless they trade him, he has to play for them if he wants to play in the NBA
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 6:09am #188450
kong47272ParticipantChurchboy, it is possible to enter the draft twice… but you must sit out an entire year not playing professionally anywhere.

MallStax5Participantyall say he cant do this he cant do that.
LOOK at our other forum name “rubio and giffen news”
there you WILL see that its possible!0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 6:14am #188453

ChosenOneParticipantIf he sits out a whole entire year then he could re-enter and get picked by another team.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 6:15am #188456

ChosenOneParticipantIf he re-enters then he could go to another team.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 6:21am #188460
MallStax5Participantthanks for the support.
but like im saying if he does try to re enter the nba needs to say no.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 6:56am #188477
Champzilla21ParticipantHe cant re enter the draft becuz minesota owns his rights, he can play with all the other clubs in the worlds he wants, but if he wants to play in the nba its going to be with the t wolves
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 9:32am #188562

HaleParticipantNo, he can re enter. It has already been stated above that if he doesn’t play pro ball this year anywhere, he can enter again.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 07/23/2009 - 10:20am #188601
j1232eParticipantIf rubio renters the draft I hope every team gets together and boycotts drafting him. That would teach every player a lesson who enters the draft. It is bad for the game to have this type of shit happening!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/29/2011 - 9:05am #602049

HitsterParticipantOn another site several years ago there was a debate about Yi Jianlian perhaps re-entering the NBA Draft the next year as he did not want to play with the Bucks and I wondered if there was a total lockout whether it could maybe happen again next year with some of the players especially the European prospects.
I know it would be doubtful given the depth of next year’s drafts but if some players did perhaps want to get onto a better team then it could just be realistic. Could you imagine a few lottery team owners being happy with a lockout and then suddenly losing an unsigned 2011 draftee who decided to re-enter the draft!
