Mad MaxParticipantNow that December 15th has passed, players who signed contracts in the offseason can be traded, allowing for the maximizing of trades.
I love messing around on the trade machine, trying to find Pau Gasol a home, finding OKC a low-post scorer, or blowing up the Knicks or Nets.
So lets see your trades, I wanna see some unique and well thought trades. Not some BS like the enitre Laker’s roster for LeBron.

ProudGrandpaParticipantI’m not sure Asik would go to a team with a guy like Anthony Davis firmly entrenched as starting center. That’s what cause Asik to ask for a trade in the first place.

Mad MaxParticipantHe could "start" at Center with Davis at PF, and Anderson as the 6th man, and have a strong 3-man front-court rotation. When Davis was healthy, New Orleans started Davis at PF with Jason Smith at Center, so Davis never starts at Center, he just plays there when he and Anderson are on the court together. Plus, Asik can quit being a little school yard BlTCH and play when he’s told.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantPeople seem to think that OKC desperately needs a low post scorer, but the thing is, in Scott Brooks motion offense, everything is predicated on swinging the ball and ISO’s for Durant and Westbrook, a guy who needs the ball down in the low post would just muddle up ball movement and clog the lane.

kotyParticipantDetroit: Recieves Jeff Green, Brandon Bass
Celtics: Greg Monroe and Charlie Villanueva
Why Detroit does it: Questions about their frontcourt and spacing have been popping up all season long. They need to get someone who can space the floor better than their current trio. Of the three they would move, I think they would most likely move Monroe. Andre Drummond is essentially untouchable in my opinion and they just invested greatly in Josh Smith. While Monroe is valuable, I think Green is better suited for their team. He has a good outside shot (41% this season, 35% on his career) and is versatile enough to play both the 3 and 4. In addition, Bass would provide depth for their frontcourt. He is playing well this season and is a strong rebounder/defender with a respectable midrange jumpshot.
Why Boston does it: Monroe would be a nice piece to add to their young frontcourt of Sullinger and Olynyk. None of these guys are strong defenders, overly athletic, or true centers, but they have versatile offensive games and overall good playesr. I doubt Boston would keep all three going forward, but some combination of them and a young center who they could add in the upcoming drafts would be a nice frontcourt. Also, they get rid of salary and longterm contracts and take on Villanueva’s expiring contract.
Draft picks could be thrown in to sweeten the deal, but I think this is a pretty even trade. Thoughts?

dmo21ParticipantToronto trades Lowry, Fields, and Novak and receives Nash, Kaman, and Shumpert.
New York trades Felton and Shumpert and receive Lowry.
Lakers trade Nash and Kaman and receive Fields, Novak, and Felton.
Toronto gets rid of Lowry which they want to do as well as other bigger contracts that were signed in the past. Nash comes to end his career in Canada and can help a young growing team. Kaman can also help the youngins, plus he’s expiring. Shumpert is a nice young piece to have who can start as there defensive wing. Lineup would be Vasquez (Nash), Shumpert (Ross), DeRozan (Salmons), Johnson (Hansborough/Patterson), Valanciunas (Kaman).
New York upgrades their point guard to get into the playoffs. Shumpert is a loss as he was a young talent, but Felton’s contract won’t be missed. Lineup would be Lowry (Prigioni), Smith (Hardaway), Anthony (Peace), Bargnani/Stoudemire, Chandler (Martin).

dmo21ParticipantLakers get some younger guys who can play right now. This would be them trying to put a better team around Kobe. They do add some long term contracts, but they can’t have a team full of free agents like they did this year again. Felton knows this offence and the other two are good role players who don’t need the ball. Lineup would be Felton (Blake), Bryant (Meeks/Johnson), Young (Fields/Henry), Gasol (Williams/Novak), Hill (Sacre).

MopgrassParticipantIf you’re plugging in Gasol all over the place on the Trade Machine, here’s some helpful info. Since the Lakers claim they won’t take a big contract unless it expires this year, assuming they stand by that, here’s a list of the biggest contracts that could be included in a trade for Gasol.
I didn’t include LeBron or the like and sometimes I coupled a few players. It’s really limiting, actually.
Phoenix Suns
C Emeka Okafor $14.4Utah Jazz
SF Richard Jefferson $11Boston Celtics
PF Kris Humphries $12Brooklyn Nets
SF Paul Pierce $15 milCharlotte Bobcats
SG Ben Gordon $13.2Chicago Bulls
SF Luol Deng $14.2Indiana Pacers
SF Danny Granger $14Milwaukee Bucks
SF Caron Butler $8
PF Ekpe Udoh $4.4
PG Luke Ridner $4.4Orlando Magic
SF Hedo Tukoglu $12Washington Wizards
C Marcin Gortat $7.7
SF Trevor Ariza $7.7
PF Jan Vesely $3.3
C Kevin Seraphin $2.70 - Posted on: Mon, 12/16/2013 - 4:56pm #856999

rileymcshea3ParticipantI suck at making trades but I think the Magic should try to get Schroeder from the hawks for maybe Afflalo or a 3 team trade sending Afflalo to a team playoff contender needing a SG

Jayhawks2011ParticipantThis happens when KLOVE says he wants to play on with a superstar and the Thunder commit to winning this year.
Twolves get rebuilt with young players and depth.
Rubio/Waiters/Brewer/Bennett/Pekovic
Cavs have a good duo to take them into playoffs.
Irving/Martin/Clark/Love/Bynum
Thunder might be winners with completing a compelling and talented starting lineup
Westbrook/Afflalo/Durant/Ibaka/Varajao
Magic continue thier youth movement with J. Lamb.
Nelson/Oladipo/Harris/Davis/Vucecic
Timberwolves only do this when he says he wont resign. Its extremely unlikely, but I think most teams get fair value in return.

machu46ParticipantAs a Bucks fan, I’ve pretty much accepted that Ersan Ilyasova is going to be moved, so I’ve been pondering what Milwaukee could get for him. Since he’s been struggling this year, I have to imagine his value is not nearly what it could have been if Milwaukee had traded him last year, but anyways, the one offer that I came up with that I think makes at least some sense is with San Antonio.
San Antonio receives:
Ersan Ilyasova
Milwaukee receives:
Matt Bonner
Jeff Ayres
Future 1st round pick (I’m thinking 2015 or 2016)
Why would each team do this?
Everyone knows San Antonio loves the international guys, and I think Ilyasova fits very nicely with this team. If San Antonio continues to start Splitter and Duncan together, they would then have Ginobli and Ilyasova to play with the second unit. Those are two guys that can start on many teams. In general, I think Ilyasova is a good fit with the team. He’s very good at playing off of other people, and his ability to stretch the floor and rebound is a welcome addition anywhere.
In Milwaukee’s case, moving Ilyasova frees up more room for John Henson to continue playing starter’s minutes once Larry Sanders returns. It also makes them worse for this year, increasing their chances at a high draft pick. Bonner expires after this year, so he’ll be gone, and Ayres is cheap even if he stays. On top of that, they get a future 1st round pick, which, depending on when Duncan and Ginobli finally hang it up, could be a very valuable asset.

piratejpParticipantI’ve been strangely obsessed by the Asik drama. Here’s my best deal (completely unlikely to happen) so far:
Houston receives Carl Landry, Jimmer Fredette, Hamady Ndiaye, Kenyon Martin and OKC’s 2014 (Top 20 protected) 1st round pick.
Oklahoma City receives Omer Asik & Travis Outlaw and a future 2nd round pick from Houston
Sacramento receives Amare Stoudamire, Iman Shumpert, Hasheen Thabeet, Perry Jones, Isaiah Canaan, Chris Smith and a 2014 2nd rounder from Houston
NY Knicks receive Kendrick Perkins, Marcus Thornton, Jason Thompson, Ronnie Brewer & Aaron Brooks
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ky8hwrb (without Toure Murry included…it breaks the machine if he’s in there for some reason, but it works w/ him too).
Houston gets a pretty good haul of a few usable pieces and a late 1st rounder.
OKC improves markedly at the C position and gains experience at backup SF at the cost of a late 1st rounder.
Sacramento brings in young pieces and sets themselves up to have a pretty nice balance of cap space & young players in a couple years.
NY sheds Amare & Shumpert and gets more balanced across the board. Is it enough? Probably not, but it can’t be much worse.0 - Posted on: Tue, 12/17/2013 - 12:56pm #857245
