There’s only 3 weeks until the biggest day of the year in NBA Draft circles, this is the day we look forward too all year, many of us follow the draft more so than the NBA games being played most of the season, sure we check scores and keep up with the standings but we’d much rather hear what NBA prospect’s "failed a drug test" or argue about who’s Over hyped/Under Rated this year…

I also think this is the season of Trade rumors, we have the potential of trades during the Draft and the impending Free Agency just days after that, we all are going to blanketed by Trade Rumors and Threads between now and The Next NBA trade deadline, so why not create a One Stop shop of NBA Draft Trade Talks and Rumors??? I know everyone wants a top spot on The main Page and hell we can always use that 1,000,000th Trade Thread can’t we???

In all seriousness the Main Page will be too conjested with content over the next few weeks to keep track of, so I’ll be posting random thoughts about the Draft and all the Trade Ideas I have eating away at my own brain, I encourage all my fellow Draft Addicts and Trade Junkies to join me in this Thread…

And to start things I’ll ask everyone a Question…

What Team will be the first to attempt a trade Up??? Example. Houston trades the 14th and 16th picks in the 1st Round for the Warriors 7th overall pick…

The Hornets are the only team That’s a Lock to keep their Top 5 pick, although Washington has gone out of their way to say that they’ll be keeping their pick as well, I feel like they are trying to create more leverage going into the draft…

The Hornets are locked in to Davis, and after that is where the fun starts…

The Bobcats could be the 1st team to make a big trade, they clearly need tons of help and coveted Davis dearly, They’ve also been tied to Harrison Barnes from the start of the College Season, and he seems like a logical pick, But at 2???  I think taking Barnes 2nd overall would be a bad move personally, the only fall back will be to use the Hometown Fans pressure to draft Barnes as an excuse if he doesn’t live up to his # 2 pick potential, I was the first to suggest the Bobcats trade down with Portland if they wanted Barnes so badly, although I’m not sure The Blazers would definitly so it, They would have to at least think it over…

The 2nd Pick for The 6th and 11th picks was my brain child and I still think it’s possible…An Aldridge/Drummond frontline sounds down right dangerous in the West, and it’s worth losing the 11th pick in the Draft to make happen as anyone would argue the 11th pick isn’t a lock to be a Star

The Portland Trailblazers get the Big Man they need sans Greg Oden, and the Bobcats get a few chances to find the players they need…Win Win in my book…

With MJ involved I would not count out a big trade or a Huge Gamble…I think with the 6th and 11th picks he could take 2 of the biggest potential guys in the Draft

Perry Jones III(6th) and Waiters/Wroten Jr. or Rivers(11th) hell maybe even Meyers Leonard to play C

He could also play it safe and Draft Harrison Barnes(6th, if Cleveland or Sacramento pass) and Zeller or Henson(11th, depending on who’s available and who they like best, I’d go with Henson right now)…

I wouldn’t be shocked if Rudy Gay or Andre Igoudala were shopped around for the 7th pick.  It seems like Golden State is trying to add a more impact player and the #7 pick is a pretty big asset to throw into a deal.

Is the title of this post a reference to the Smashing Pumpkins album Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness?

I didn’t think anyone would catch the reference, Plus 1 to you…LOL…Great Band, Great Comic…

@ Joe Wolf, I’ll post my thoughts on The Warriors pick…

The Warriors don’t want another scorer/shooter with the 7th pick

They want to trade the pick for an All Star level Sf to complete their starting line up with Curry, Klay, Lee and Bogut, Rush will be resigned and they want to add another bigman with the 30th pick(I’ve heard they like Andrew Nicholson a lot) and they want to sign a veteran Pg like Andre Miller or Jason Kidd to play backup Pg or potentially start alonside Curry or Klay

If you look at their roster and the potential trade options listed in the original posters Link are…

Batum, Deng, Iguadola, Gay, Granger and Josh Smith

Nic Batum will be resigned by the Trailblazers most likely, If rumors of Batum wanting to join the Parker are true then he’ll be Signed and Traded to San Antonio for Kahwi Leonard and Tiago Splitter plus Cash…

Deng is a good defender and can be a 2nd or 3rd option on offense, but he’s not as versatile as Iguadola and has an iffy injury history much like Bogut and Curry more recently, Iggy has been an Ironman playing the majority of minutes and games since being drafted, The Bulls would love to dump Deng on you trust me

Rudy Gay is the guy you trade for if you want to remain in the lottery IMO, although he’s the most talented, that’s ironic but I don’t think Rudy is at a point in his carrer where he makes his team better, many could say the Grizzlies are better without him or with him playing less significant role on offense, he’s the 3rd option on a Good Memphis Team, and The 1st option on a Bad One, see how that works out, Gay doesn’t make his team better…

Granger, I like Danny but lets be honest, he’s an over rated shooter/scorer, and he can’t defend the best Sf’s in the league and he doesn’t make his team any better by not wanting to rebound/defend or defer to better team mates(ask David West and Roy Hibbert if they didn’t deserve more shots than Danny in playoffs) The Pacers would love dump Danny Granger on you and get the 7th pick(obviously a Pg or Pf) and with the money saved the Pacers would offer a Max deal to Eric Gordon, The Warriors would make a slight jump in the talent department and may even sniff the playoffs, but by year 2 they’d digress again with Granger’s bad shot selection, poor defense and injury concerns…

Josh Smith is an absolute headache in Atlanta and could very well be in Golden State, but he’s got the most athletism and he’s a very good defender when he wants to be, he can also take some of the worst shots in the NBA sometimes and can absolutely kill the Warriors offensive flow, he’s also a guy anyone would likely take a chance on because he can make the WoW play and fill up a stat sheet, I just never thought Josh was a smart player and he certainly was never a winner in Atlanta, they got better because of Joe Johnson and the addition of Al Horford, not because Josh made his teamamtes better or even played smart basketball when they were successful, I watched Hawks games and wondered how they were a playoff Team with Smith taking as many bad outside shots as he did, now he does run the floor like a Deer, hit the glass, block shots and play defense(when he wants to) so he’d be a good fit, but not the perfect fit IMO…

The perfect fit for what the Warriors have said to want and need is Andre Iguadola, he’s a guy that does all the right things on the court, although maby Sixers fans would say he’s taken some bad shots over the years, I say this, "What NBA player hasn’t taken a few bad shots in his carrer", Iggy was forced to be the # 1 option when he was clearly a 2nd or 3rd option with elite defense who could also play Point Guard on offense, he never gets in the way of the teams success, his stats don’t matter to him, what matters is the Teams success and is proved true by this past season, he post his worst offensive numbers as a starter only to appear his first All Star Game and help the Sixers to their best Season since another AI played in a Sixers uniform…

Iguadola is clearly the best choice for the Warriors IMO, I may be wrong and I may be a little bit biased toward Iguadola and the idea of my Team’s pressence in the Trade Talks but it’s been there…We almost traded Iggy for Monta Ellis last summer and we pulled out because of our new ownership grour not wanting to trade for an "AI clone"…We kept Iggy which payed off huge,he had an All Star appearence, we got into the playoffs and we took down Chicago(the 1st seed in the East) and played Boston tough only to lose in 7 games, I victory in it’s self for a young and upcoming team…And if Boston goes on to the Finals we can say we took the Eastern Conference Champions to 7 games and we had a chance until Rajon Rondo’s jump shot became Ray Allen like in the 4th…

I’m also a Warriors fan and East Coast follower, I’ve followed them because of their ties to The Philadelphia Warriors and the great players over the Years like Chris Mullin, Mitch Richmond, Rod Strickland, Chris Webber and others…so I’d like to see them get better sooner rather than waiting for a rookie to develop, of course unless that rookie is MKG…

1st…Anthony Davis the obvious Number One Pick

2nd…The Bobcats are being baited/pressured into taking Harrison Barnes, first by his UNC College Connection, and now by The Cavs prematurly announcing their love for Harrison, although they did love him last year and he has some ties to Kyrie I think this is clearly a case of "Bait and Switch" tactics…The Cats do want Barnes because of all the obvious reasons but not at 2, they want to trade down, and they will draft Andre Drummond to do so…They draft and wait to see how the Draft plays out, many teams value Drummond and would be willing to work with Charlote, especially the Blazers at 6th…

3rd…The Wizards will be forced to choose between Robinson, MKG, Beal and then Barnes…They want to draft Drummond and trade him away for The Portland picks as well, they need a shooter more than the next best 2 prospects T Rob and MKG, Brad Beal and Jeremy Lamb make perfect sense but I think 3rd overall is a little too high for either to be taken, with Drummond the trade chip gone they select Brad Beal

4th…The Cavs get the fortune to choose between MKG or Barnes and I think they select Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist and they get Kid Kyrie and his best friend MKG, two versatile players, with the 25th pick the Cavs can find a shooting guard(D.Lamb,T.Ross,D.Waiters,T.Wroten Jr.,W.Barton,W.Buford,J.Jenkins,A.Young)

5th… The Kings have to choose between Thomas Robinson and Harrison Barnes, although they don’t have a trasitional Sf, I believe they address the interior of their Defense and add the blue collar Pf to play off Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans, they’ll need a rebounder with Evans, Thornton, Thomas and Fredette shooting form outside, and 2 interior post players are certainly better than 5 perimeter players, The Kings select Thomas Robinson

6th…The Blazers select Harrison Barnes for The Bobcats, they take the player the Bobcats need and wanted to select 2nd but felt too pressured to do so and needed to get more, The Blazers are a Playoff team that traded away an aging Sf for the 6th pick in the draft, They have a RFA in Nicolas Batum that trumps all the Sf’s in this Draft Class and they look to resign him, they have NO size outside of Lamarcus Aldridge and JJ Hickson(who should the 3rd big in the rotation) they would be a contender if they pair LA with a defensive big in the mold of Greg Oden, although Drummond has a lot of offensive potential he’ll likely become a Bynum like C next to LA, which is well worth making this trade…

I agree with you as far as Igoudala.  Rumors have Memphis shopping Rudy Gay, but I’m still unsure they’ll pull the trigger. I also think Memphis is going to want too much for him in return (probably Klay Thompson) and I don’t think GSW will be so quick to let him loose. Philly, on the other hand, has been shopping Andre for a few years now and I think he does fit in best with the Warriors and I think GSW would entertain shipping the #7th pick and a throw in like Beirdens or a young guy like Jenkins ( who could possibly replace Lou Williams if he does indeed leave).

I hear you on the Drummond thing, because I think team needs and the player availibility of this draft will result in a lot of teams picking the BPA and trading them on draft night or shortly after…and I speculate a lot of trades.

I disagree on the Washington thing, now that their once promising dream of a dominating Blatche/McGee front court has been shattered,  I feel that they’ll choose hometown boy Thomas Robinson to pair with an emerging Kevin Seraphin.  You could argue that they’re looking for someone to replace Nick Young and give a backcourt mate to John Wall, but I’m skeptical that Brad Beal is even 6’3” (we’ll find out tomorrow for sure) but I just think NBA teams will be really weary of taking a shooting guard who may be 6’1.75” in socks with the #3 pick in the draft.  I personally think he’ll fall into Portland’s lap at #6.

At 22, Seraphin is a lot more of a refined player than I first thought he was, and putting a bruiser like Robinson next to him who can run the floor and catch John Wall oops will make a lot more sense.  Vesely is a raw guy, and at this point in his career, one that’s best suited for a bench role.  Robinson can start, play a conservative 25 mpg as he adjusts to the league, and Vesely can bring a Birdman type spark off the bench.

But I think Brad Beal will be at least 6’3, in the mold of Eric Gordon, he’s a very solid Sg to be honest, he and Wall could be a very scary backcourt defensively…Wall can guard the Sg’s and allow Beal to check Pg’s or vice versa depending on match ups…Robinson going home would be a very nice pick too, but you can’t make picks based on setinmental value, I agree he would be a very nice addition but they have a Glaring need for outside shooting and perimeter defense, Crawford needs to be the 6th man type and the front court is set with Singleton,Vessely,Serephin, Nene and Booker, nolt to mention Rashard Lewis who will not be Amnestied for some odd reason… and they could add a rotational Forward in the 2nd round…I think the Wizards will pick the best perimeter scorer, that’s why I have them selecting Beal, he an score off the ball and play defense and rebound etc. etc…

I agree with you though, it will be hard choice for the Wizards…But based on Team need they should just draft Beal

    OR…

They could trade the 3rd pick to Portland for the 6th and 11th LOL, they can then hope Thomas Robinson is still there at 6th, and they can get the Sg(Lamb, Rivers,Waiters or Ross with the 11th pick)…

I think it works out prerfectly for both teams if The Bobcats do in fact select Harrison Barnes or Micheal Kidd Gilchrist 2nd overall, leaving Drummond at 3 for the Wizards to select for The Blazers, who then have to wait for The Cavs to select Barnes or MKG(whoever The Bobcats don’t draft basically to pair with Kyrie)

The Kings will be the only Dark Horse to pick, they could ruin the deal by taking T Rob 5th, but they could draft Brad Beal and then trade Tyreke Evans for a Pg or Sf

OR they could go crazy over the potential of Tony Wroten Jr. or Perry Jones III, they have always made interesting picks...I could see them taking Perry Jones with 5th pick, who can play Sf and/or Pf in between Evans and DMC

This o course would leave T Rob available for the Blazers to select, who then trade him(and the 11th pick) to Washington for Andre Drummond(and a 2nd round pick)

The Wizards could leave with T Rob(6th overall via Portland) and a Sg with the 11th Pick(via Portland)…

The Blazers get the Center to pair with Aldridge and a 2nd round pick to select a wing to back up Batum, I don’t how the Blazers feel about Luke Babbit…
