As i was discussing this with a few people today i realized how effect move would be.  Im sure it was brought up last offseason but im still curious was there a official reasoning to why it wasnt done?

    The advantages:

Lebron already handles guarding D Rose,  If he can handle Rose he can handle any point guard in the league.

Lebron is a ball dominate player.  He is a better passer then Mario and decision maker.

I cant really see any Cons.( mainly why im posting this)

I 100% believe the Heat should roll out next season with

    C- J. Anthony

    Pf- Bosh

    Sf- Miller

    Sg- Wade

    Pg-LBJ

Defensive assignments can interchange between wade and LBJ.

Help me out, i cant see why this wouldnt work or be completely dominate the same way Michael use to handle point guard duties.  The Heat want LBJ to score and this allows him to score/set up someon without going through Mario first.

he guarded Rose at the end of games.  imo he would struggle guarding pg’s all game every game.  miami needs James to attack the basket and not be a jump shooter (yes I know he is a good jump shooter) so he can get others involved with penetrate and dish and also get to the ft line.  The problem then is James is not in a position to rotate back on defense.

He can be a point forward on offense like Pippen and Kobe but imo he can’t be a full time pg on defense.

Ultimately they need his scoring to win games. Lebron is a great playmaker but putting him at he point guard u are somewhat limiting him offensively.

Then why wouldnt having wade guard the point and letting LBJ pick up the shooting guard work out.  Rotating back on defensive will always revovle around who is closer.  So that isnt a issue.

I think Lebron could do it if he lost a little weight.  Also he would appear he doesnt like to do a lot offensively as shown by his playoff performance against Dallas so doing this could work but I think they need a better option than Joel Anthony as a big man.  Anthony would be good off the bench.

To be honest, LeBron needs to just work on his post game, that way this team can go small more.

then Lebron won’t have to switch out of his game.  Chalmers is ok for backup, Bibby’s gota go. A more productive center would help also then Lebron wouldn’t have to play center.

Lebron is more effective as a scoring point-forward 3 than a  point guard since he becomes passive as a 1.

Lebron played the point for the last 3 games of the finals… look how that turned out.

sheltwon3 was right… Lebron needs to lose weight.  If he’s playing PF he’s perfect the way he is.  If he’s playing SF he should lose a few and if he’s going to play PG he should go back down to his 240 days.  At 240 he was a GOD.  At 270-280 he’s been playing at the last couple seasons he’s still amazing but not the Lebron we knew. As it stands right now he’s lost a step and some speed… not to mention late in games he looks a tiny bit gas’d by settling for so many jump shots.

LeBron having to guard 1’s and 2’s the entire game. Especially at the start of the game, there is a reason he switched onto those guys in the 4th quarter. Guarding those little guys takes a lot of energy, not to mention that as amazingly athletic as LeBron James is, most PG’s can get the blow by on him every once in a while. He is much better as a free safety guarding the opposing teams 3 than at guarding PG’s, despite his noted success in shutting down Rose in a couple games and Terry in the first 3 games of the Finals. I think Spoelstra had the right idea in playing them with a PG, though he should have made Chalmers more of a focal point WAY before he finally did. Chalmers can shoot, is a pesky defender and can play off of the ball as well. I see little reason he should not be a serviceable 25 mpg player for them, maybe even 30 mpg.

The Bibby experiment did not work, mainly due to Bibby’s sudden amnesia of how to shoot and his incredibly poor lateral quickness. But, he was much more proficient than Carlos Arroyo, and I would not say it is a total washout. The guy usually has ice water in his veins, and is actually a very proficient floor general. He was much better at running the offense than Chalmers, he just did not make the most of his own opportunities.

I could see them playing LeBron at point though, though he for the most part does. He and Wade control the ball at the end of the game, and I think that if they had more time playing together, adding Haslem and Miller to the big 3 is their ideal end of game line-up. Still, I like the idea of Miller and Haslem coming off of the bench, and would think that maybe a taller combo guard could be used as a potential back-up to a guy like Mario Chalmers, who I believe the Heat will re-sign. They need to make minor roster tweaks, and I disagree with the notion that they ALWAYS need a PG on the floor, because Bibby was a major liability defensively, but the point is too get LeBron and Wade to play off of the ball and increase distribution, which is as much on James and Wade than it is on whoever is playing PG.

Hot – People gain weight in their early to mid-20s for the most part.  I agree he’d be more effective lighter, unless he really develops his post game, but I’m entirey unsure how reasonable that is.

He is not a post player. He would get worn down guarding Rose,Rondo,Westbrook,Wall all the time. The fatigue will effect his suspect shot too. He is a streaky shooter from deep as it is. He can play some point at times. They need a PG who really loves to dish. B Jennings would be good here. He fits that system perfect. A PG who really perfers to pass but plays on a team where he is needed to score more than he wants. Brandon Jennings would complete the Heat along with a guy who is 6ft11 and physical.

he needs to play power forward, he’s lost some explosiveness from hitting the gym too much and they can move bosh for a decent small forward and center.

    bosh idea

bosh, jones, future 1st rounder for Camby, fernandez and Batum

MIA: Chalmers – Wade – Batum – LBJ – Camby

    2nd rounder – Fernandez – Miller – Haslem – Anthony

    POR:

    Miller – Matthews – Wallace – Bosh – Aldridge

    1st rounder  – Roy – Jones – Babbit – free agent / Johnson

(can also do with out fernandez and jones)

LeBron isn’t a point guard. Neither is Wade. They’re both just best with the ball in their hands. Great passers, but NOT point guards.

They need a REAL point guard who they can trust to handle the ball. A point guard who understands how to get the team in it’s sets, etc. A player who can push the tempo or make great decisions in the half-court. A player who can create easy baskets for LeBron and Wade. Someone who can shoot the ball and play off of the ball during certain points in the game.

In order for that to happen though, both LeBron and Wade, need to work on their off of the ball skills this summer. IF I were those two, I wouldn’t even do much off of the dribble this summer. It’d be all jumpshooting, off of the ball and post work.

IF those two come back better jumpshooters and playing off of the ball, etc they’ll win a title EASILY.

Not a lot of these kind of point guards around, but they need a Jason Kidd type of point guard.

to fatigue?!  The man is 2 inches taller then Jordan and Jordan guarded point guards all the time. Plus that is why i suggested having Wade and LBJ switch through out the game.  It would confuse the offense and allow the off ball person a break.

I agree on the weight issue in order to play smaller he def. needs to lose weight.

But I think most of you are failing to see is the offense revolves around LBJ or Wade getting the ball and creating.  You’re cutting out one step and placing the ball in his hands to start.  How is that a bad thing?  Dont say it slows the offense down when all Mario is doing is passing it to one of them.

By adding that post game no SG or PG would be able to guard him since the line up is so tall.  Wade is the next smallest person.  So if the other team switches their point to him. He posts them up.  Miller is too tall for a PG and LBJ is already standing at 6’8".  It provides about a 80% chance to score every trip.

The only thing holding LBJ from being the PG is guarding the point guard.  That is why i would like to see the heat use LBJ and Wade as a tag team on the other teams PG.

James is 2 inches taller than jordan, but he is also maybe 30 pounds heavier. That weight would come in handy down low in the post, but slows him in the perimeter and makes him spend more energy to keep up with fast players. He can still guard PGs though.

With Miami’s versatility on defense, they can give perimeter players different looks on D. You have Chalmers defend the PG, switch to Wade, then James, so the guy doesn’t get confortable and has to change his game all the time.

HAppen to watch the finals when LBJ was PG. Just as the Jet expected he would ultimately outdo LBJ in a 7 game series. He’s a 3 who can pass and likes to dominate the ball. Trade him for Dwight and you have a VERY nice team.

    Dwight-Inside domination

Bosh-jumpshooter who can space the floor but also get to the line and is a good rebounder.

Miller-he could potentially run the pick and roll with Dwight and develop similar chemistry with Howard that he and Turks developed in 09.

Wade-Go to guy who is clearly the best crunch time performer.

Mario-Knock down shooter who proved he can take on a bigger role.

    Shooters all along the bench.
