BasterdInABasketParticipantRon Artest says the biggest FA signing was KD resigning and that the top players in the league are #1 Kobe and #2 Durant.
When asked where James ranks on his list, Artest excluded the back-to-back MVP from consideration. "I only count to two," Artest said. "I’ve been out of school 15 years, so I only count to two."
So far we’ve had Shaq saying Miami has a nice duo, taking a shot at Bosh. The Zen Master said that the teams with the most talent dont always win championships. Kobe also said hed beat Lebron hands down in a game of 1 on 1. no competition and now Artest is getting into the action.
Hopefully this talk carries over onto the court and we see these guys really battle it out like we seen in the 80s and early 90s and get some rivalries going on.

AndyBeng2ParticipantWhat is the deal with people hating on Bron, just because he switched teams does not take away from his skill set and who he is, he is still the best player in the league, and crazy @ss Artest’s opinions mean nothing. Why all this talk about who is better Durant vs. LeBron, lets see Durant do the stuff LeBron does, be a triple double threat everynight. Hell let him get out of the first round before we start saying he is top2 in the league.

omphalosParticipantIt sucks that all this newfound resentment coincides with the emotion killing "respect for the game" rules. 80s and 90s rivalries are no chance.

ChrischiParticipantWho seriously thinks that Miami will win it this season???
The Lakers have a beast bigman trio which will be hard to stop for Bosh, Anthony, Haslem and Big Z. And they have Kobe and Artest defending the big two.
How the hell do they want to stop Howard??? Howard already destroyed Z when they beet the Cavs. I don’t see how they want to defend him. And if they double team it will rain threes.
Boston is always tough if healthy and can beet any team any time. And they showed last season that they can punish teams with a weak PF.
Sorry, but I don’t think the Heat will even make the Finals. We all know they will win championships, but not this season, give them some time to develop some chemistry.

"The Lakers have a beast bigman trio which will be hard to stop for Bosh, Anthony, Haslem and Big Z. And they have Kobe and Artest defending the big two."
The Lakers do have the best trio of bigs in the NBA, but their is on guarntee that Bynum will be healthy come playoff time.. Bosh is a very talented player and a top 5 power foward, I can see him as a decent match up aganist Gasol.. Haslem is a warrior and was the starting PF for the Heat when they won a chamiponship.. Anthony is a rugged defender and is a capable rebounder.. Big Z is a very good shooter that has the ability to spread the floor.. The Lakers bigs as a group is bigger but, the Heats bigs can compete..
Kobe vs DWade is a legit match up its not like Kobe would destroy Wade.. I think Wade would push Kobe to the limits and this could be a all time great playoff match up.. Artest is a very good defender, but I think Lebron would get the best of Artest… In a Finals series I think Lebron would take his game up a notch..
"How the hell do they want to stop Howard??? Howard already destroyed Z when they beet the Cavs. I don’t see how they want to defend him. And if they double team it will rain threes."
How the hell is the Magic going to stop Wade, James, and Bosh??? I dont believe Howard alone can take out the Heat trio in a 7 games series, he would have to average some carzy numbers im thinking something like 30 pts 15 rebs 3 blks… I think the Heat have enough bigs to foul, harrass, and frustrate Howard..
"Boston is always tough if healthy and can beet any team any time. And they showed last season that they can punish teams with a weak PF."
I wouldnt call Bosh a weak PF.. If the Celtics cant stop Wade (33 ppg 7 asst 5 reb ) and James (27 ppg 7 asst and 9 reb) individual, imagine what would happen when their on the same team.. Pierce and Allen dont match up well aganist James and Wade…
IMO. Lakers v Heat Finals…. Personally I hope both teams are healthy, it would be one of the greatest finals ever… So many sub plots and storylines.. The amount of talent on the court would be ridiculous…

ChrischiParticipantI agree, Lakers vs Miami would be amazing.
I know that Miami can beat any team anywhere, and they’re probably the favorite to win the East for many people for a legit reason, the big three.
Of course "if" the Lakers would have to play without Bynum the chance for Miami to beat them would increase. Right now they say that he will return in 8 weeks? So I suspect that he will be 100% for the playoffs. Injuries can happen to any team, of course Bynum is especially injury prone but just imagine one of the big three gets injured.
Joel Anthony complements the other Heat starters with his shot blocking and offensive rebounding, but he avg only 18min last season. Who knows if he’s able to bring it if he has to play 25+ mpg. He also has close to no offensive game.
Yes Big-Z can spot up from mid-range. But I don’t think that he can play more than 18mpg effectivly. He is simply to slow.
Haslem is a beast I agree.
The Lakers are also one of the few teams who have two very strong wing defenders + Barnes of the bench to throw at LBJ and Wade.
The Heat will have trouble defending Howard. Of course the Heat will win the matchup battle. The Magic are the strongest defensive team, although most players aren’t good individual defenders. The reason they’re so good defensivly is that as soon as someone drives past Nelson or Carter, they have to pull up for a J or make some kind of a floater because Dwight Howard is waiting in the paint. Maybe Bosh could be x-factor because I really see him crushing Lewis in the post.
I think Miami wins the matchup battle against Boston. It also depends on how healthy Garnett will be. Shaq and JO will probably cause some trouble for the Heat. But yes the Heat have a good chance, but everyone thought the same about Cleveland and Orlando last year also. And who knows, maybe they could have beaten the Lakers with Perkins. And I think they improved over last season.

Im Your FatherParticipantI just find it laughable that the same people who said Lebron took the easy way out, tarnishing his career, and that all his championships with the Heat won’t count, are the same people who are now saying he isn’t as good as Durant and that the Heat won’t be good and won’t make the finals. I feel like a lot of Laker fans are feeling insecure and so feel the need to downplay Miami’s chances.
There are lots of good, reasonable Lakers fans on this board too, so I’m not saying that about everyone, just a select few. Personally I think that the Lakers have great reasons to feel confident, seeing as they have just won back to back championships, but I think fans are either foolish or lying when they say that a matchup with the HEAT doesn’t worry them.
Bottom line is this: The lakers may still be the favorites, but every organization ought to fear a team with Lebron or Wade on it, and now they are together with Bosh.

SteroidParticipantComments like this are just backhanded ways of saying that they haven’t earned their respect yet with the rest of the top tier players, teams, coaches, etc… No doubt they are good, and they will have a good team, but until the heat actually win and have something to brag about, they don’t deserve the respect of a team that’s been there like the Lakers. I’m sure it offends the other players and teams who’ve been around that people are saying the heat are just going to run through them. Like I said, it very well could happen, but as of right now, the heat haven’t proven anything.
