Lotto StudParticipantLarry Drew II enrolls at UCLA
By Peter Yoon
ESPNLosAngeles.com
ArchiveLarry Drew II, the point guard who abruptly left North Carolina mid-season, has enrolled at UCLA for the spring quarter.
Drew, a former standout at Taft High in Woodland Hills, Calif., left the Tar Heels on Feb. 4, issuing a statement that said only "it’s in my best interest to continue my education and basketball career elsewhere."
Drew began taking classes at UCLA on Monday and has to pay his own tuition this quarter because UCLA does not have any open scholarships, but he is expected to participate in all off-season workouts and join the Bruins as a scholarship player next season.
"It feels great to be back home," Drew said in a statement released by the school. "I had a great learning experience at North Carolina and they taught me a lot. I’m looking forward to getting a fresh start at UCLA and I’m happy to be a Bruin. Next year will give me time to focus on my academics and of course, train with the team."
Tyler Honeycutt‘s decision to leave school and enter the NBA draft opens up a scholarship for coach Ben Howland. Drew, a junior, will have to sit out the 2011-12 season because of NCAA transfer rules and will have one year of eligibility remaining. He will re-join former North Carolina teammates David and Travis Wear, who transferred to UCLA last year.
Drew was averaging 4.4 points and 3.9 assists in 22.8 minutes at the time he left North Carolina, but had recently been replaced by freshman Kendall Marshall as North Carolina’s starting point guard. At the time, Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said he was shocked by the player’s unexpected departure.
Drew averaged 8.5 points and 5.9 assists in 28.8 minutes as a sophomore and led North Carolina to the NIT championship game.
He is the son of Atlanta Hawks coach Larry Drew, who played 10 years in the NBA, including stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers.

Lotto StudParticipant"I had a great learning experience at North Carolina and they taught me a lot."-Larry Drew II
If anything he should have took with him, was LOYALTY & INTEGRITY. Although he is not a NBA prospect, but if he was I & I were a coach or Gm I would question whether or not he would quit on me. Carolina teaches you how to conduct yourself as a professional at least I would think with taking everyone of their players in account except for McCants. I would have not given Drew the opportunity to play D1 ball. Drew should be black-balled from Major D1 ball.

Scottoant93ParticipantAre you serious! wasn’t he rapping about how UNC held him back, now he’s praising them(I guess he relized he was holding unc back, Marshall was killing it ever since he took over here’s the link by the way.
• "Everything I’m hearing is untrue. The media, they talk, but they never confront you. The past three years, I can’t undo, so now I’m making all the moves that I want to."
• "They tried to tell me just to play my role, but who’s really trying to stick to a script full of typos."
• "Like a horror flick they made me out a monster. Cut the bull—-, I should have won an Oscar. It ain’t over till the fat lady sings, right? [Forget] it, I brought the whole opera."

Scottoant93ParticipantHe kind of seems like college basketball owes him something for being the son of a former nba player/current nba head coach(for now, news he’s on the hot seat).
