So right now Detroit is up by two. Paul George can’t do anything, Monroe has stagnated West’s strength, and Hibbert has just been ok. Meanwhile, as atrocious as Smith’s stats look, he’s stopping himself as Indy has no answer for him when he drives or posts up. Jennings is hitting shots.

But man, Born Ready is getting whatever he wants whenever. His ball handling is great, he’s driving and dishing effectively, even hit a big time 3 under two minutes. Is he a future All-Star, and why or why not?

 No. He’s an above average energetic role player… Not sure how you think he’s a future all-star, especially when he’s on a team with possibly three people who deserve to be one over him.

  I love Lance, and so does my fantasy team, so I find it a little harsh to call him "an above average energetic role player." Lance is a big part of the Pacer’s success, and is an even larger part of what makes them go. He’s one of only five players in the league averaging 10+ ppg, 5+ rpg, and 5+ apg; the other four being Batum, Carter-Williams, Westbrook, and LeBron James. He’s a harassing defender, hits threes, and finishes well around the basket. I don’t think he’s going to be a star player, but I think he could be a very good 3rd/4th option on a contending team.

Its probably way too soon to look at a play who has gotten drastically better every year he has been in the league as some one who "cannot make an all star team", specifically when he plays in the Eastern conference. I’m not a huge Stephenson fan or anything, but he does a ton of things for the Pacers and has worked really hard to get better. Maybe he will only be a 3rd or 4th option his whole career, but every contender wishes they had him.

Why? He shot 9-14 and shoots 47.5% on the season. Sure, it takes away a scoring opportunity from George or Hibbert, but when he’s on, he’s on.

Also the dearth of quality shooting guards plays a part in the All-Star question. Plus he was supposed to be a great SG with all of his skills so there is no audacity to the question.

His PER has never been even average, but he’s one of my favorites to watch just from his unpredictability. Zach Lowe wrote a nice column about him maybe a month ago too.

Love the stat stuffing he provides but his shooting worries me, and while he’s good at finishing in the paint he’s not a good foul shooter. He has to fix that up if he wants to go from where he is right now (which is good enough for a nice raise this summer) to an all-star shooting guard.

he’s already avg. 13ppg/6.5rb/5ast/1st and if he developes a little more his mid-range jump shot he could easily improve his scoring to 17-18ppg.
