0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:29pm #173434

gatorheelsParticipantR U serious? Wow, I like that choice….Cincy should be pretty good
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:31pm #173439

lakanoParticipantWith as long as he took i was scared no one wanted him
Cincy though I didnt see that coming
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:33pm #173441

Knicksboy34ParticipantI just saw it…im a little upset he should have waited for Duke to offer him
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:34pm #173444
Stanford hoopsParticipantim not sure what type of team they have but i havent heard much for players out of there so im guessing it will be his team to run..its gonna be interesting when they play st johns at home…..if they play them since the big east schedule is kinda weird
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:35pm #173447

lakanoParticipantDuke? Would coach K deal with someone with an attitude like Lance’s
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:36pm #173449

Knicksboy34Participanti WISH HE WOULD, HE COULD HAVE WON A COUPLE NAT- TITLES
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:37pm #173450

gatorheelsParticipantGates is a beast for Cincy. I am shocked Lance is going to Cinn, I didn’t even know he was considering them. Ha that will be crazy if they play at St. Johns.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:37pm #173451
ckowalskiParticipantcoach k usually makes it a habit not to recruit 1 and done players
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:39pm #173456

Knicksboy34Participanti kno.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:39pm #173457
Stanford hoopsParticipantwon a couple nation titles where?…definatly not duke
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:41pm #173460
ckowalskiParticipantim not talking about calipari im talking about kryzewski
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:41pm #173455

Meditated StatesParticipantHe has a couple coming to UK to go with Wall, and he recruited Rose. Tyreke too. He recruits one and done more than anyone else. I don’t fault him though. Oh my bad thought you were talking about Calipari.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:41pm #173462

Meditated StatesParticipantMy bad
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:42pm #173463
Stanford hoopsParticipantno coach k does recruit them but they dont decide to come to duke for the most part
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:43pm #173464
ckowalskiParticipantthats what im saying, he has a tradition of trying to bring in players that will stay for 4 years, not that there havent been exceptions.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:46pm #173467

SmooveKRYPTParticipantMost def. a 1 and done…I’m pretty sure this was his only option, but I’m glad he stayed in the Big East, he should do pretty well there, and I’m pretty sure he’s a lottery pick next year!!!
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:47pm #173468
Stanford hoopsParticipantyeah he brings them in but he also recurits the one and dones..they just choose not to come to duke
0- Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:56pm #173486
spencerishawesomeCoach K doesnt really recruit one and dones… John Wall was an exception this year, because, well Duke had 3 gaurds and is now down to 2 so they pushed last minute for Wall once they knew G was going pro..

Knicksboy34ParticipantWRONG.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:55pm #173483
Stanford hoopsParticipanthmmm look at scout/espn and the other sites that show who the players were recruited by..and prospect over the past 10 years and see the teams that recruited some of these one and dones and see how many were recruited by duke then come back and say wrong:)…before i say anything i do my reserach..you should do the same
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:57pm #173487

gatorheelsParticipantthat is why Duke sucks in the NCAA tourney now because they don’t get the premier players anymore
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 1:58pm #173488

JNixonParticipantYea, like Gatorheels said Yancy Gates is nice and so is Vaughn.Cronin is an up-an-coming coach who would be recognized if he didnt coach in the Big East. Stephenson will help the Bearkats alot. I like that choice
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:01pm #173495
Stanford hoopsParticipantthis is a couple of names duke recruited…joh wall, bj mullins, kevin love, gerld green, josh smith, dwight howard, lou deng, stephon maurbury, jarred bayless brden wright , spencer hawes, kevin durant, thadeus young, mike conley, greg oden…..there are alot more but you get the picture…coach k does recruit them and they let it be know duke isnt even on there radar so he stops recruiting them
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:13pm #173509
ckowalskiParticipantluol deng was not a one and done. let me rephrase what i said for you then. coach k does not bring in players with a one and done mentality, who want to be a star for one year and then leave. he brings in players who want to compete for a championship for 3 or 4 years. Every coach in the country recruited players like john wall, josh smith, dwight howard, oden, durant. I think you are missing the point.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:16pm #173511
Stanford hoopsParticipantmy point is that the one and dones dont come in because coach k doesnt recruit them..they dont go because they dont wanna go to duke..deng always said he would leave if he had a good year…..coack k recruits one and dones as much as the other coachs with the exception of problem one and dones..those players just arent keen on the idea of playing in dukes system..it truley is that simple…its not just calipari is this great guy..alot has to do with the system.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:18pm #173514
ckowalskiParticipantcalipari really hasnt had a lot of great one and dones until rose and evans though. the rest of the important parts of that memphis team were all upperclassmen, with taggert being a soph.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:22pm #173518
Stanford hoopsParticipanti think he has more one and dones then most…wagner was also one and done so thats three that i know off the top of my head…wall will be and im sure many more..then if you fator in the ones who would have came if it wasnt for no rule saying they couldnt go straight pro.. point is coach k recruits one and dones also they just dont wanna come to duke
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:23pm #173520

HaleParticipantShawne Williams was a one and done I believe. Amare would have if he didn’t go straight to the NBA. Those are a couple that I remember.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:24pm #173521
ckowalskiParticipantyea that true i forgot about wagner. when was that 02 or 01?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:24pm #173522
Stanford hoopsParticipantand when you take a deeper look i think( not completely sure) that most of the top players are inner city kids and most of them dont want to go to duke either..the players that end up wanting to go to duke are players that are middle to upper class
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:26pm #173525
ckowalskiParticipantmaybe its just the fact that its carolina. duke’s lineup is usually pretty pale if you know what i mean
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:28pm #173529
Stanford hoopsParticipantlol..yea thats tru…another thing is if im a one and done player i wouldnt wanna go to duke either..yeah you will win alot of games but you wont be able to show case youre full skills. plus it seems that duke hides alot of the guys weaknesses because they get exploted when they get to the leauge
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:34pm #173539
ckowalskiParticipantyea if i went to duke it would be bc i believed i could win a champ as a role player not as a superstar. duke products havent been very good in the nba lately. battier’s been solid but guys like shelden williams and reddick just havent been able to get into the regular rotation enough.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 2:40pm #173546
Stanford hoopsParticipantanother thing is this championship thing…how many titles has duke one and when was the last time they won one?…i never consider them contenders and they pretty much havent been no matter how many times dukie v says they are ..every year i think they are overrated and i say wait till they play a tough athletic good team and when that happens they get worked
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 3:17pm #173584

Meditated StatesParticipantGuys don’t want to play for Duke anymore. The thing with the lacross team hurt recruitment.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 4:36pm #173614
spencerishawesomeNo… Coach K does not heavily recruit one and dones… Of course he tosses the Duke name into the hat with some of the great players like Durant or Oden but he does not spend a lot of time recruiting them.. Just because you go to rivals.com or whatever and see Duke on the list of 20 schools of “interest” does not mean Duke is heavily recruiting them.
Ever since Deng left early and Livingston, after it was almost assumed he was going to be at Duke, skipped college completely Coach K has NOT recruited expected one and done’s. He does not want players with immediate NBA mindset.
Also, if Duke hides your weaknesses, wouldn’t you want to go to school there? If your weaknesses dont show, you get drafted higher, and make more money…
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 4:52pm #173619
ball4life66ParticipantNo chance Duke would have recruited him. Lance committed to Cincy over NO ONE because everybody backed off of him. He’s a headcase….
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/30/2009 - 5:22pm #173647
Stanford hoopsParticipantthey dont heavly recruit them because the players cross duke off there list early so it makes no sense for them to keep recruiting the player i have 3 friends who duke recruited who cut them off there list and duke stopped recruiting them( they werent one and dones though)..and no i wouldnt wanna go there if its gonna hurt me in the long run..its a simple fact that they recruit top players but not all the top players want to go there..theres no shame in that duke fans
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/01/2009 - 6:33pm #174351
spencerishawesomeso you’re saying you are friends with 3 of the top bball recruits in the country who were all recruited by Duke? I find that hard to believe. I find it even harder to believe that they would cross Duke out early if they werent one and done’s…
And explain to me how hiding your faults hurts you in the long run? If you go to Memphis and your weaknesses blaringly show how is that better than them not showing? you make no sense..

thatdude44Participantthats good for lance to go to a school like ciny…if he goes and at least try to learn the game with the skills he has i think he’ll be the B.Jennings of next years draft.

Stanford hoopsParticipantfor one i asistant coached for dc assult as well as played when i was in highschool..every year we have kids who are recruited by duke because every year we have pretty good players…2 i work out in cali some sommers after i come back from where ever i am in europe because thats where my friends and trainer is…3 im cool with alot of guys overseas some teammates some play against during the season who were recruited by duke but told them they werent interested..and spenser you might wanna read the post before putting the list..the topic isnt that duke cant recruit top players anymore….now back to what i was saying players do brush off duke just liek they brush off other colleges duke is not exempt to that….you really need me to explain how hiding youre faults hurt you in the long run…look at some of the guys who are overseas now because they went to colleges that hide some big faults…its like i tell the kids i work with…you want to work to be the best at everything if you play at a place where all you do is is one thing that works everytime you wont get much better and be prepared at the next level..same as with guys i suggest should transferr when i know they have talent but they are playing at a very low level highschool..yeah its good in the short term but hurts in the long run when u start playing against guys who have played against better competition and can do more then just run and jump…i could have easily lived off of just being a leaper but my career would have ended in hs(short term) where as i worked on my game and went somewhere that challenged and prepared me for europe(long term)
