Mark my words… Toronto’s playoff drought is over next year.  Tor will find a way to grab Lamb with their first round pick.  Tor has been desperate for a legit 2 guard for a long time.  Lamb has the potential to carry a load which is something Derozan has proven he can’t do.  D.D. is more in the mold of a Marion and will be able to slid over to his natural 3 spot.  Tor has tried Bayless at the 2 playing along side Calderon but we all know thats not a championship back court… probably not even a playoff back court.  Calderon is a pass first PG who can score if needed but he prefers to distribute and make the right play.  Lamb has excellant defense and size to cover 2’s and D.D. can play the same way on D for most 3’s.  Bargs will finally slid over to his preferred 4 spot with the arrival of Jonas and Tor finally has a natural starting 5 with complimentary pieces on offense and D.  Good size and length upfront and a pretty athletic lineup.  Jonas, Lamb and DD will be your defensive stoppers and cover for Bargs average D and Calderons lack of D.  On offense Calderon gets them into their sets with many options available including a lethel pick and roll for the first time since Bosh left with the arrival of Jonas.  Perimeter shooting will be excellant, rebounding above average, sharing the ball should not be a problem with these guys. Bayless can be your third guard of the bench and fill either spot and then Tor still has JJ, Davis and AJ coming off the bench in the forward spots.  Things are looking bright in Tor.

Even if Tor should strike it rich and land the top pick I’m betting they find a way to trade down a couple spots to still grab Lamb and pick up additional assets in the deal.

Lamb can create his own shot, shoots well, is clutch and can close out games… he’s everything Tor has been lacking to make their machine work.

I’m tempted to imagine drafting Drummond or Davis should Tor land the top pick… but I just don’t see either of them as having that much more of an impact then Lamb will over all on a game to game basis.  Drummond and Davis would both upgrade positions on Tor roster but not nearly to the degree that Lamb will and Lamb still has a pretty high ceiling.  Lets not forget that the size always gets drafted first but rarely works out best.  Jordan (bowie), Wade (darko, bosh) are perfect examples of drafts where size went first and it was a giant mistake.  Tor actually needs Lamb and should have a really good shot at getting him.

Toronto should be in the playoffs next year.

I think he’d be a better fit in Detroit, personally. Greg Monroe needs shooters to take pressure off his low post game, so Lamb or Beal would be more perfect for Detroit. Toronto has DeRozan that they play at the 2. Ideally, Toronto would get Davis, so that they could finally stop worrying about having a defensive black hole at the C/PF, and play alongside/complement Bargnani.

DeRozan is literally nothing like Marion, who is a 3/4 that is great defensively, posts up a lot, and cannot shoot very well.

i like the calderon, lamb, dd, barg’, ‘ciunas lineup.

i know uconn is struggling but lamb is to me pick num 3. and maybe number 2 with drummond sliding to third.

he can spot up or shoot off the dribble very well which you can’t say about any other top prospect besides the other guy named lamb. rivers is ball dominant and doesn’t like spotting up, beal, ross, barnes lack off-the-dribble

lamb will also be a great go-to scorer

this is all in my eyes. to each his own

So Jeremy Lamb is the difference to whether Toronto gets to the playoffs? Come on now.

I can agree with some of those points, yeah.

Lamb would be a nice fit to Toronto. No, Demar DeRozan is nothing like Shawn Marion, but from the perspective him being more of a slasher then a shooter, I can see your point that he might be suited to playing the three. Lamb would give them a good player on both ends, and someone who can create his own offense with a variety of different shots.

Nevertheless, it depends on where the Raptors end up drafting. I still believe in drafting talent ahead of drafting needs, especially when you’re this high on the board. If you’re drafting a top 5 pick, you better be sure he’s gonna pan out into a good player. I’d rather get a franchise player at a position we already have a good player then miss out on that and instead draft a decent prospect who contributes, but doesn’t become a star.

If the Raptors don’t get a top 2 pick and Harrison Barnes is still on the board when they draft, I’ put my money on drafting him or possibly MKG. If both of those players have been taken, then yes, Lamb & Beal would be the next logical choices.

@ FireKahn, nah man, they got Jonas V next season, who’s a legit C (Cavs will be haunted for a long time for taking Thompson ahead of this beast!!!). Drafting Anthony Davis would mean they got to play Bargs at the 5 (gulp!!!). As for Lamb at the Raps, i like the idea very much. Demar to me, IMO, is really an athletic 3, who as @snotshot says, is still pretty much a raw project on the offensive end, and hence can’t be consistently relied on at that end.   We’ve seen the Raps play Bayless at the 2, so that pretty much indicates that Mitchell likes playing a natural scorer at the 2, with Demar at the 3. IMO, Lamb, Beal or even Rivers would be perfect, as they all got potential to compliment Bargs at 4 as go to scorers at the 2. As @snothot said, Calderon, Lamb/Beal/Rivers, Derozan, Bargnani and Valanciunas as the starters, with Bayless, Ed, Amir, and JJ off the bench, suggests brighter days should be heading to Toronto starting next season. Not sure about playoffs immediately, but they should get there within 2 or 3 seasons with that core.

I forgot about Jonas…yeah, He’ll be good! But getting Davis would let them trade away Bargs, because let’s face it, he isn’t getting that team anywhere. A Davis/Val frontcourt would be straight up terrifying. In trading Bargs, they could hopefully try and get a real PG or SF, or try to accumulate as many draft picks as they can.

I think Harrison Barnes would be the better fit. Derozan is best suited as a 2

so what makes you think derozan will automaticaly turn into a great defender….he’s barely average at best….i still think he has potential to be a elite scorer in the league…

I think Kidd-Gilchrist would be a great fit for the Raptors. They have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league for many years now and MKG is the kind of swingman that could be a lockdown defender and contribute offensively as well in the mold of a young Ron Artest.
