    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/7966303/source-new-york-knicks-lamar-odom-top-choice-free-agency

Lamar is interested in joining an already bolstered front-court in New York.  Along with Chandler, Stoudemire, Anthony, the addition of a focused and ready Lamar Odom would be a nice boost off the bench, especially when the bench already has J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert.

If Lin resigns and Woodson is able to implement an offensive system that feeds the Lin/Stoudemire combo but also helps the Carmelo/Stoudemire combo, along with depth, they should be a nice team to watch.

knick would still struggle to get out of the first round of the playoffs…

This is assuming he can shoot above 39%.

Sounds like the wife is sick of living in Dallas, I’m thinking he’ll play a lot better without the missus whining about wanting to live in LA or NYC.

I think Odom might try to go back to LA, but to the Clippers, not the Lakers. He would be back in LA (to make his wife happy), on a playoff team, and could play the same role he did with the Lakers, coming off the bench as a 6th man to backup the 3 and 4 spots. He might not get to handle the ball as much with Paul on the team, but I think it would still be a good fit for him and the team.

The Knicks problem is not Talent… its Ball Movement and Shot Selection.

Its a shame because its highly unlikely Woodson is going to correct either of these issues. Woodson likes to exploit “mismatches” over and over on offense. Woodson’s idea of offense is getting the ball up the court… somehow… and then giving it to Melo or Stat and letting them do their thing. Hardly championship ball when its so predictable… and you have to rely on Melo’s “decision making”.

Nothing wrong with adding another 4/5 in Odom though, provided he’s motivated and back in great shape.

there is lots of IF Tongue-Out-Like-23

the biggest one for me is IF "Woodson is able to implement an offensive system"… mike woodson is that kind of coach who is more "defense oriented" and hides his weeknesses in offense by calling ISO 66% of the game and letting his pg creativity do the rest. It can be effective to win games in regular season… but as soon as serious things begin in PO it doesn’t work.

Moreover I don’t think this melo/stoud duo works well… melo wants iso to get his stats and can’t become integrated in a team play. Whereas stoud’ needs quicker ball movement and P&R with his PG Lin who is still a FA (restricetd but FA) and without him the knicks should be awfull at the pg position. Fields is also a RFA and JR smith wants a bigger longer contract…

I really don’t see what a declining/non focused/out of shape odom (cause sadly, that’s how he is currently) can bring to the knicks. And with no money….the full MLE ? I’d rather extend novak, fields and lin, get rid of smith, find some cheap role players veteran with the MLE (pargo, stiemsma, gray,  lavoy allen, reggie evans, ivan johnson, shawne williams, mcguire, carier martin, ben uzoh)

Another possibility is to go international (some cheap good surprise) : bring printezis (the euroleague final hero) and why not bo mccalebb …?

Last season was a bad season, but that’s behind him. He’s shooting over 46% for his career. I think it’s safe to say that whoever gets Odom, will be getting a version that looks similar to 10-11 and not 11-12.

I think he’d be a great pickup for the Knicks. And an even better fit for the Clippers though in my opinion.

Odom has to feel at home and comfortable wherever he ends up otherwise he will be the same Lamar from Dallas. The man may be a 6th man, but he still needs to be able to get 28-35 MPG to stay engaged. Honestly the Knicks would be perfect for him as he could play with Melo a lot and create good ball movement and play beside of Amare and help get him going off with his passing. That team lacks EXACTLY what Lamar would bring. Personally I’d try to get Felton as he seemed to gel nicely with Amare, but if not possible, sign LO cheap and resign there own F/A’s.

Maybe sign Khloe too. Back up Tyson, i think her and Josh Harrelson probably would bring the same things to the table.
