Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantLiving in Southern Cali, nobody really considers the Lakers and Clippers actual rivals since it’s completely one-sided but what do the Clippers have to do to really make this a rivalry?
If they meet in the 2nd round of the playoffs and the Clippers beat the Lakers and resign Chris Paul, will this be considered a rivalry?

llperezEvery game is huge for the lakers from here on out as they try and stay ahead of the jazz. Pau is playing his best ball of the season by far and he and Kobe are working together great with Dwight kinda being the odd man out. Earl Clark is playing well again after disappearing for a while. The lakers are actually competing on defense for 48 minutes keeping both the mavs and grizz in the 80’s scoring. One real concern is Kobe looks tired. He played 47+ minutes in back to back games recently and he looked exhausted down the stretch of the Memphis game where he played 43 minutes. Jodie Meeks hasn’t made a three in forever and Nash is out so Kobe has to be out there to create offense otherwise the team looks bad without him so there really isn’t time to rest right now.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantTo be honest, the only way this would ever be a legitimate rivalry is if the Clippers beat the Lakers in a playoff series, win the Western Conf title, and resign Chris Paul. If they fail to do any of those, it’s still not a rivalry in my book.

llperezI honestly see it as another game. Clippers win this year, but I’ve never gotten into the rivalry aspect of it nor does anyone else I know. I’m sure a playoff meeting would change that quite a bit.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantRemember when the Clippers used to be the joke of the NBA?
Well if this lakers team misses the playoffs we will have a new front runner for most laughable team.0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/07/2013 - 9:03pm #761031
