The NBA’s two most storied franchises appear to both have a rough patch ahead of them. My question is, who has a brighter future ahead of them? The Celtics, with their recent trades to acquire youth, or the Lakers projected cap space next summer.

that cap space is basically useless next year, outside of the entire heat roster (and players currently on the lakers), theres not much out there. i really dont think carmelo or paul pierce will use their ETOs next year at all, so really the lakers would be looking at Dirk, Zbo, possibly rudy gay, or some other restricted FA’s like john wall, greg monroe, and more.

boston is ready to sink for wiggins or parker. and the only real players they’re paying are jeff green and rondo.

Do you think Pau is going to be on the trading block again all season, or are they going to ride out this season with this rag-tag crew of veterans on one year contracts. I know it early to call, but on paper is this team even playoff contenders out west? The media got this all wrong again. Kobe would take pay cut but not the one being mentioned like 1.45 million dollars. I know he’s old but I don’t think it’s very smart to take a pay cut from 30 million to 1.45 . Somewhere between 10-15 is my prediction.

I would have to say Boston considering the still have a young star on their roster. Rondo is a guy you can build around for the future. Add that to the fact that they hired one of the brightest young coaches around and I would say they are in better shape than the Lakers with an aging roster and Mike D’Antoni coaching.

This could change quickly if the Lakers pick up a prime time player in free agency next summer but to me Boston just has a lot more young talent. Bradley, Green, Sullinger, and Olynyk would all be players the Lakers would love to have. The Lakers don’t have one player under 30 that really has any value at all around the league.

Celtics in my opinion. Trust me when i say this. Those picks they got will be good. The Nets literally have two years in my opinion to win. After that, they’ll just have D-Will who will probably bounce because when everyone else retires, they’ll have nothing to trade to help D-Will out.

Exactly, the Nets just showed exactly how much they’re willing to spend to put a team together, and in a short amount of time. I don’t think Brooklyn will ever be a bottom feeder as long as Prokorhov is willing to dish out that much cash.

He couldn’t play off the ball to save his soul. His big showing to teammates this year was to become the PG mid-year, taking Nash’s job away. Then, he gets in Dwight Howard’s face and tells him to sit and watch and learn how to be a champion. Other players hear this stuff. Who wants to deal with that?

I’d be shocked if we got an excellent pair of FA’s to come to L.A. next year. I’d love to have John Wall and whoever else. But the 2nd problem is the Lakers have zero bench.

Nash is on the books and Kobe, Gasol, and Jordan Hill probably resign. Probably. After that, there is nothing. No outside shooting, young players, or a base of bench players to build around. They’d have to buy there bench and they probably wouldn’t afford it after they buy their big fish free agents.

I’d rather amnesty (with Kobe’s okay), trade, tank, and start over. But no. Instead the Lakers will flirt with 500 all year if they’re lucky and gain nothing from it.

I think it comes down to this next season. If the Lakers can come out of this draft with 2 first round draft picks they have a shot. Again I think the Lakers should use some of that cap space to get draft rights a la Cavs with the Davis trade that landed them Irving.

I keep saying this it’s the 2015 summer the Lakers should be looking at. Not 2014.
