Magic JordanParticipantThe last couple of seasons have been pretty unkind to the Lakers as far as health is concerned. Some major injuries obviously coupled with a lot of nagging injuries for various players have been the norm for what seems the past 3 or 4 seasons.
I love Gary Vitti as much as any Laker fan but at what point does the organization start to look in towards it’s medical staff? I am not saying there is any correlation between that and the injuries, just making a suggestion which I never hear discussed. He has been with the Lakers organization for around 30 years…. it is possible for even the best in their profession to get bored eventually.

imAboutDatActionParticipantthe injuries to Nash and Kobe have to do more with age and mileage than it has to do with the training staff. Gasol is also 33, injuries are more prone to happen when you’re older,we all know that. not to mention when you’re playing a professional sport, injuries happen. its part of the game. i wouldnt blame this on the training staff.

Tobe BryantParticipantAs NBA fans, why do we expect players to be superhuman, and remain eternally healthy? Do we realize these guys are pushing their bodies to the limit on a nightly basis?
Not only are tram trainers responsible for proper rehab, but the doctors that players consult with, must allow them adequate recovery to be 100%.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantThis^^^
As a laker fan its obvious that mike D is running guys into the ground. He did it last season with kobe playing him 40 minutes a night to sneak us into the playoffs.

Checkbook_docParticipantI think this is an interesting post but I don’t think there is anyway to know how much of the credit/blame to place of the training staff for a players health. Although it is interesting that Karl Malone missed like 9 games in 18 years but then misses half the season during his one year in LA.
If you ask me I would pay whatever it takes to get the Phoenix training staff. It seems like there are a ton of players that were constantly injured but were able to revive their career in Phoenix (Grant Hill, Jermaine O’Neal, Shaq O’Neil, ect.) and Laker fans have seen what happens when old players leave Arizona (Nash).

MopgrassParticipantSome players are legitimately injured. However, the more ridiculous it gets, the more I think it has to do with tanking.
