Lakers Get: Monta Ellis
Mavs Get: Steven Nash and Xavier Henry
Why it makes sense:
I would love to see Kobe (when he’s healthy) and Monta pair up. That’s a scary guard combo that could average 60 PPG. The Mavs get a veteran PG in Nash to reunite with Dirk. In addition, they get a good young player in Henry who could help Dirk with scoring.

  Rather than everyone neg me why don’t you give me some feedback as to why this wouldn’t work. I know Nash is old, so maybe they throw in another piece, like Jordan Farmar.

    IMO, the worst part of this trade is why the Mavs would give up their teams leading scorer they just signed this offseason to have Steve Nash and Jose Calderon play together?? Makes absolutely no sense for them. Not to mention the problems with Kobe and Monta Ellis playing together

And Xavier will be a free agent at end of the year anyway so if the Mavs really wanted him they can go after him then. Finally IF Kobe comes back healthy there wouldn’t be enough shots to go around between those two in the back court.

The Mavs are in no position to give up Ellis. As Dirk is unable to produce at the level he once was, they desperately need an efficient 2 guard to help shoulder the load, neither Nash nor Henry fills that role.
