Their first pick in years. If they get the 4th pick who do you see them taking: Exum, or Randle? Vonleh and Smart are good, Vonleh has the length Randle lacks and could be a stretch four where as Randle (not that he can’t do it or later develop it) hasn’t shown that ability this year – and the way Smart can impact a game, especially defensively, reminds me of Wade (If your a fan of Wade’s game you understand and if not just watch the play when he block’s Amare Stoudemire his whole career he’s made impact plays like that) but he’s also someone who offensively, the way he plays, has no chance to be what Wade is. Now why I say Randle or Exum is because if they reach their potential they could become not GOOD but GREAT PLAYERS and the way Mitch K. speaks (not wanting to splurge on merely ‘good players’ in FA this offseason and end up a 41-41 win team aka 8th seed aka 1st round out team – which I endorse, hopefully you’ll Forgive me Kobe you’re still my favorite player to ever play the game) Could you see that impacting the way they draft? Also imagine this and please bare with me and keep in mind this is my FIRST POST and IM NOT SAYING IT WILL HAPPEN. I’ve seen Lakers fans NEGGED TO HELL for bringing up the word LAKER. I mean if the NBA was HARRY POTTER the word LAKER translates to VOLDEMORT. Now let’s say the lakers get the #2 pick and Embiid is taken #1 who do you think they take? Jabari – someone who in his first year could avg. 20-5-3 now with his frame and skill set but whom the media believes he is not athletic enough that it’ll hinder him as he goes up against NBA quality wings and holds that against his potential (although I see grant hill every time I watch his games from the season and Grant was a less physically imposing LBJ) or Wiggins – who may or may not come in impacting the game offensively like Parker due to his frame and at times his mindset which we’ve seen at times this year but has the athletic ability that separates a GOOD FROM A GREAT PLAYER and could, if he reaches his full potential, become a more athletic T-Mac (let’s be real T-Mac was 6-8 and he could jump but he wasn’t VC and Wiggins – although he lacks VC’s in game dunk creativity, doesn’t use as much legs as Vince used and is not a two foot jumper like Vince is – can get off the floor like Vince.) Age old Debate: Potential vs What they are when they get to you.

Steez you should seperate the text in your statements to make it easier to read. Seperate sentences in groups of paragraphs, common etiquette would be to have a maximum of five sentences per paragraph. Example… (End Of Paragraph).

(Start of Paragraph)Im no grammar nazi or even the sharpest knife in the drawer although I do want people to be able to read my comments so they can reply and maybe that can help you do the same thing.

Damn that was a horrible post but I think those posting before me have addressed that issue.

I think their draft board is Embiid, Exum, Wiggins in that order. Lakers understand that the best Centre in the world = Championships. They only need to look up at the retired Jerseys to understand that. They wont have been too badly burnt by the Howard fiasco.

I bet Exum has already been working out for the Lakers in private. His agent is tight with Kobe, and he’s living in LA. Exum even said that LA is his preferred destination. No-one can get near him and it would take balls-of-steel for a GM to take him in the top 4 without having seen him workout for them, whilst other good prospects are available.

If Exum is indeed the best player in this draft (and no reason to think he isnt), the Lakers will be the only ones who know it.

Welcome to the NET man! Although you could stand to learn a bit more about how to make a better post in terms of looks, your points were fair.

Well, I see the Lakers choosing Wiggins if he’s available. I hope he is in actuality because the Lakers haven’t had a legit SF since Caron Butler. I heard someone say they should target Aaron Gordon,  which I can’t believe. I hope the team turns around quickly though,  this season has been lost.

As a fairly noob myself welcome!  And what everyone else said about your paragraph lol.  Before I scrolled down I was planning on saying something but everybody beat me to it.

Onto your post, I think their order goes Wiggins, Embiid, Exum.  Depending on how Embiids back looks Exum could easily be 2nd on their list.  Where they are projected to pick I think they would target Smart before Randle as their end game is still K Love I believe.  A tough defensive minded fierce competitor like Smart is the kind of PG Love needs to play with I think.  They would form a pretty nice pick and roll combo as well.

I also agree with what you say about Kobe as I am too glad they are not letting him hold them hostage anymore.  He had a choice take another big pay day, or compete for another ring, he chose the pay day now they have to make decisions for life A.K (After Kobe).

As far as not posting about the Lakers, luckily there are very few trolls in the NBADraft community.  If you get negged it’s because your comments suck, not because you comment on a particular team that happens to be your favorite.  Unless you post about it numerous times.  Intelligent posters around here so if you keep it legit, it’s all gravity.

I wouldn’t be shocked if the Lakers traded the pick. They don’t seem like a team interested in letting young kids develop. I don’t know who they would try to get, but it wouldn’t shock me at all if they dealt it for an established player. Boston did it when they traded for Ray Allen. Obviously they also went on to trade for KG, but I could see the Lakers planning out a scenario where they get an established guy in a trade, sign a good FA this offseason (Deng, Lowry, Etc.) and go all in on Love/Aldridge next offseason.

I think a lot of the Lakers draft result will depend on who exaclty is available when they pick AND if there are other teams interested in any trades come draft day. I have absolutely no doubt that if the Lakers can get someone like Love if they give away their pick they will do it.

On the other hand I really want the Lakers to reload through the draft after all those years without any high potential picks / players. If they really pick top 5 I’m not sure I would trade this pick if I’m the Lakers. If they feel that someone like Exum is worth a top 5 pick, they should keep him. On the other hand Kobe made it pretty clear, that he is not interested at all in a ‘more than one year plan’ to bring back this frincise to the top.

There are some tough decisions to be made this summer in the front office and I’m excited to see what they will do. I have a feeling the Lakers will not pick below where the odds have them now and this should ony be good for them in this loaded draft and I’m a believer in the rigged lotetry and see Stern give them something back after the CP3 fiasco. As the op said, Parker would be a really nice pick for them but I think Jabari will return for one more year, even if he won’t be picked any higher next year. Before the season Parker said in an interview, that he he is not only excited to play at Duke but to be able to receive first class education there. He won’t get a degree in 2 years too but he might follow players like Shaq who got their degrees after finalising college with distance learning.

BTW, when was the last time the Celtics and Lakers both picked this high in the draft in one year???

As a Lakers fan, not just one of the Kobe trolls I personally hope they don’t cave to his wishes and rush things and trade a top 6 pick for Kevin Love when if they are just patient they could potentially sign him out right next off season.  As long as the Wolves are convinced they can resign him they won’t trade him which is the best outcome for the Lakers.

You need young franchise type talent on rookie scaled contracts. Even with K love next year they aren’t a playoff team, I just don’t get the incentive to trade a potential franchise type player for a similar outcome.

I have said this before but I’ll say it again. Kobe kissed another ring good bye when he signed that extension.  I don’t blame him for taking that money.  It was a smart financial decision but definitely not one that helped the team get closer to a championship…. In fact it all but kissed them good bye.  He made that bed, I want them to let him lay in it and not mortgage the future for the 8th seed next year.

I will definitely break my texts up, I’m usually on my phone when on this site and well I was just rambling had a lot of questions and just hit save without really paying attention to the fact that it was a block of text.

And you all make really good points some of which I was thinking, others that slipped my mind especially  MAGIC JORDAN ‘s point on passing on Randle to take Smart because they still have sights on Love and Smart’s a good defensive PG.  Any Celtic fans? Who would of thought we’d both be here right now? Lol.

Again thanks to all, I need to thumb up you guys.

As a Kings fan it kills me that the Lakers are getting a lottery pick in this draft of all drafts.  And Pau’s terrifying bout with vertigo conveniently coinciding with their trip to Sac. seemed peculiar…not that I blame them.

But the popular rumor has them trading that pick to Minny for Kevin Love.  Love always seemed destined to end up back in LA and though this draft is loaded he’s obviously better than what you are likely to land in the 4-6 range.

Why is there soo much hype about this kid? I seen his highlights, but jeez potentially better prospect than Wiggins, Parker, Embiid? We have not seen enough of this kid. I’m pretty sure he will probably skip workouts this summer.
