JaeEvolutionParticipantHah we get Pau without giving up Joe, Josh or Al…I accept.

blancs50ParticipantFirst for the Lakers, they are giving up an All-Star caliber 16 point 10 rebound 7 footer for a back up caliber point guard (who would sadly start for them) and a replacement level wing (can hit the three and defend his position competently, but can not create his own shot) who might give incremental value over Barnes and Artest. Not going to happen.
For NO, they are downgrading their SF (Not only does Ariza have better stats, but he is a far better wing defender) for no salary cap difference (both players are paid ~8 million until 2014). If a 1st round pick was thrown in, I could see them going for this
Finally, due to the botched Chris Paul trade, I doubt LAL will have anymore dealings with NO for the forseeable future.

Tobe BryantParticipantThanks, just playing around on the trade machine. What about this one:
Lakers get:
PF-Luis Scola
PG- Johnny Flynn
SF-Michael Beasley
Houston Rockets get:
PF/C-Pau Gasol
SG/SF-Martell Webster
Minnesota gets:
SG-Kevin Martin
SF-Devin Ebanks

DolanCareParticipantThe second trade addresses each team need, but not effectively. The Lakers need a point guard, and they are willing to lose Pau in order to get one….The Lakers are only getting Flynn to take over PG, not good. If Pau is traded, there needs to be a high-quality PG involved.
IMO the Lakers could turn to the Raptors to get Calderon, and possibly Bargnani as well. I know Bargnani has a history of injury, so it’s not a perfect trade….. That being said, I think Calderon could fit in great with Kobe.

iguapops420ParticipantNeither. The first was downright garbage, and the second would have been nice had you put Lowwry down instead of Flynn. Flynn can’t even steal the backup spot from Goran Dragic for christ’s sake. And he’s overrated as hell.

F_DA_POParticipantThe first trade is bad, Hawks commit highway robbery. 2nd trade is decent, but would never happen. The Twolves win that trade way too much, there’s no way the Twolves would ever win a trade that much. Rubio, Martin, Williams, Love, Pecivic would probably get past the 1st round.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantis giving up Pau and picks for nothing then why not give the Magic him and Bynum for Dwight Howard. The Laker’s have said time and time again that they will not give up Pau and Bynum for Howard, but everyone has them instead giving up Pau for nothing.

Bmore_DCParticipantyea that first trade is just stupid…the second one makes sense tho, i dont think Houston wants to trade Martin…i did hear that Scola may be on the block tho

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWhat exactly does that 2nd trade do for the Rockets. Trades of this magnitude are supposed to do one or two of three things.
1. Help contend.
2. Clear cap-room.
3. Help rebuild. The 2nd trade does none of that for the Rockets. We get Pau Gasol but we have to give up two of our best players for a non-franchise 32 year old? We’ll still be a fringe playoff-team at the end of the day, except we’ll have less trade assets. The only way it makes sense is if we can keep Kevin Martin.
