Professor RozayParticipantIf the league lets this deal happen I believe that this is great for LA. They are going to get one of the best coaches in the NBA. This move will make CP3 stay in LA. I also think that Griffin getting a chance to play for a coach like Rivers will be good. I love this deal even more if they get KG in LA as well.
Boston will get a 2015 first round pick which is good for a team that is going to be in rebuilding mode. But since Boston is in rebuilding mode do they try to move Paul Pierce or buy him out by the June 30th deadline?
What does this move mean for Rondo?

Chilbert arenasParticipantI watch every Clipper and Laker game since I live in LA and all I could think for both teams was what would they look like if they had had Doc/Pops/Thibs/ as their coach, and now we get to find out!!
Celtics should see if they can get anything in return for Pierce. We’d all like to see him to finish a Celtic but he’ll have his jersey hanging from the rafters one day either way. They need to go into full rebuild mode now.
I don’t really know what happens to Rondo, what’s his timetable in terms of return with the ACL injury.
I really want to see what Doc can get out of Blake, and Deandre if they don’t pull the trigger on the KG deal.

cuseflynn10ParticipantIf Boston is going to trade Rivers, and then KG and Pierce also follow, I think the Celtics should also trade Rondo to get as many young pieces to build for the future. They’d still have Bradley, Sullinger, and Melo, and probably 3 or 4 future first round picks coming from other teams to go along with the Celtics first rounders that they already own.
I say either trade all three or keep all three, but KG may want out with Rivers gone now and he may only have a few shots left at another ring which is what he really wants at this point. Trading KG isn’t as big a hit to Boston, but trading Pierce, the heart of the team for the past decade, and Rondo who is an elite PG when healthy aren’t as easy to deal. But I think it’s fair to say the recent Boston “era” with Rivers/Rondo/Allen/Pierce/KG has come to pass. Already two pieces are gone, and it’s looking more and more likely that it’s time to rebuild. If one goes, I think they all need to go. Either take on a full rebuilding project or watch the end of Rondo’s prime years and KG and Pierce’s final years likely go to waste (unless anyone thinks the Celtics still can compete with Miami, OKC, San Antonio, etc.)

Meditated StatesParticipantDanny will get fired. They need a young star to keep. You never start over from scratch. Never. Jobs are loss that way.Danny likes his job. I am kind of glad Doc is gone. Every year it was touch and go and now that’s over. He is a good coach but I say overrated.

ConezdParticipantDoc is not overrated. I’ll just leave that at that. But I’d bet that Jeff Green has a huge season next year, if they ditch PP and Garnett. He’s got loads of talent and with those guys gone he’ll have a lot of offensive oppertunities. I think keeping rondo would help green blossom because Rondo will get him easier shots as well.

Meditated StatesParticipantbut that’s just outside Boston for the people thinking other wise. We know what he does well and we know what he does wrong. I’ll just leave it at that.

machu46ParticipantIt sounds like the league will not allow KG or Pierce to be traded to the Clippers, so that complicates things for Boston’s rebuilding efforts. It’ll be interesting to see this all develop. Supposedly the Cavs and Bucks have contacted Boston in regards to acquiring Pierce. I’d be surprised if Pierce even reports to Milwaukee if they acquired him, and as a Bucks fan, I’d probably be pretty furious if we made a move for him.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantPierce would stand to lose too much money if he was to not report to whatever team traded for him. So if the Bucks trade for him he would show up.
