OhCanada-ParticipantWojs announcing its a done deal. Looks like Atlanta is done competing if they are willing to give Cleveland one of the leagues best shooters. Has the firesale begun? Millsap on the market?

akhan786ParticipantNow Toronto has to make a move for Millsap no?

OhCanada-ParticipantPowell, Patterson and Lowry are unrestricted free agents. Lowry gets the max. Teams will through money at Powell and Patterson because they are good players but more importantly to ruin the teams chemistry. Toronto loses when Patterson doesnt play or plays poor.
Valanciunas is a talented player but Toronto plays better when he sits. He is underutilized in the Raptors gameplan but a bif trade piece.
Sullinger iss expiring at $6Mil, Patterson $7-Mil.
Caboclo, Powell, Poeltl, Wright are potentially good young players to sweeten a deal.
Its tough to say if they need to make a deal but they will likely lose some core pieces like when they lost Biyambo.
Cousins and Millsap will be explored.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantIf the Raptors can some how land Cousins…I’d jump on that band wagon real quick.

bballjunkie09ParticipantWhat do you guys think of the chances that Boston makes a move for Millsap? I think their assets are more attractive if they choose to make a move with their draft picks, and more importantly I think the players they can offer are better than anyone on the Raptor’s roster. Curious to know if Ainge and Brad Stevens would go all in on this as Millsap and Horford are familiar with each other’s play styles and have shown to be effective.

BleedGreen808ParticipantSounds like Cleveland can absorb Korver’s expiring 5mil into part of the Anderson Varejao exeption. Just read Mo Williams and protected 1st to Atlanta but other reports saying a 3rd team to absorb Williams.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantThis is huge. Korver will be a major difference maker. David Griffin has proved to be one hell of a GM.

SubZeroParticipantObviously it’s a great move, but my only question is what do they do with him defensively against the Warriors? There’s no one in their closing lineup that he can guard

bballjunkie09ParticipantKorver won’t be played in their closing lineup. That role is reserved for JR once he comes back from injury. Korver should thrive during the 10+ weeks JR is out and steady the ship for their postseason run. In your comparison with GSW, Korver can easily guard Ian Clark and Patrick McCaw on their 2nd unit, and we will probably see him matched up sporatically on Iggy and Livingston due to the amount of movement in GSW’s offense. Once JR is back he will play a reserve role off the bench and bring firepower to a team that has relatively weak 3 point play from RJ and Shumpert.

TyroberParticipantKorver is by no means a defensive stopper but everyone thinks he so bad hes almost underrated now. Hes going to spread the floor and play a good team concept defense and be just fine.

publius2481ParticipantThe word now is it’s Dunleavy (who may be spun off to another team) and a 2019 first rounder. According to The Oregonian’s Tim Brown the Cavs are also sending Portland their 2017 first rounder in exchage for the 2018 first rounder they sent Portland in the Varejao deal. Creative moves by Griffin to get this done.

Reptilian MonkParticipantLebron penetrating into the lane drawing the defense in with Korver, Kyrie, Love, Frye, Smith, Shumpert open for 3. Scary for other teams

OhCanada-ParticipantA week ago I was gonna make a post asking how nasty Korver would be on the Warriors but this is even worse.
Id start Kyrie, Korver, Lebron, Love, Thompson and have Smith come off the bench. Starting Korver next to Lebron makes it so Toronto cant hide Derozan defensively he would either be chasing Korver around screens or gaurding Lebron. Defensively Korver is not the quickest but he will work and is good positionally. Hes a good matchup for a team like GSW whos best SG does not rely on ballhandling and athletisism to shift his opponents.
I remember when Lebron was originally losing at Cleveland anyone with half a brain asked why dont you just surround him with shooting? Smith, Korver, Frye, Jefferson, Shumpert. Dirty!

Ahkasi ClayParticipantKorver is a great fit for the Cavs, but lets not act like they just got a MVP quallity player with out giving up any assets, (Durant and the Warriors I am looking at you)

ThenilonatorParticipantYou don’t think the Warriors gave up any assets to get durant (Dallas I’m looking at you!)

HitsterParticipantKyle Korver has huge experience and is an exceptional shooter, he immediatedly helps spread the play more when the big guns are on court and can use his experience with the 2nd unit to get shots in against younger guys marking him.
He is a very durable guy who can give Tyronn Lue 15-20mpg. Korver won’t be playing as much as he was at the Hawks but he can stay fresher and be used as an impact guy. He has nearly a 1,000 career games so he Cavs are getting a great deal of knowhow and an excellent pro too. Plus it stops any of their major rivals trying to get Kyle if he was on the market – GSW and Spurs would have surely looked at Kyle if he was available.
Also they will be in prime position to retain him this summer which could be useful for the next couple of years. Kyle is pushing 36 but if he still has his shooting stroke then he can be a highly effective bench guy playing 15mpg min over the next few seasons. He’s had decent paydays in his career so will probably take veteran’s minimum to stay with a legit contender.
Atlanta were looking for a 3rd team to absorb one of the salaries they are taking on apparently.
