In a day and age where kids would rather transfer than make the nessary adjustments one needs to make on the bumpy road to success. One elite point guard to be proud of is Kyan Anderson.  Kyan is the starting point guard for the TCU Horned Frogs men’s basketball team. Known for their football program TCU leaped up to the powerful Big 12 conference and with a new coach to boot.

Kyan Anderson was a three star recruit and the 30’th player in the country by ESPN and Scout Nation. After scoring 49 his junior year oh High school at the winning program of North Crowley, College offers started to roll in. Wake Forest, Usc, Villanova, Texas Tech and others heavily sought out the exciting point guard but Kyan wanting to play in the big east decided to go with Providence as his choice. Little did Kyan know soon after his letter of intent was signed the coach was let go. Kyan was then, given his first obstacle of his collegian career, his heroic decision was to stay home and help turn the TCU basketball program around! Kyan thought his hometown program was going to the big east but it turns out it would be the powerhouse Big 12.  Kyan’s freshman year in the mountain west conference was a good one winning freshman of the year accolades and helping his team with a post-season birth beating good teams like UNLV and San Diego State. Kyan’s first college coach was Jim Christen, who allowed Kyan to improv his game on the floor often leading to success. As with his coach at providence Christen was let go shortly after freshman season ended. Faced with another obstacle, Kyan now had to impress a new coach whose style was more traditional. Kyan would hold strong to the TCU program through a mountain-esk first season in the Big 12. Though it was tough Kyan’s game never wavered. When Trent Johnson needed Kyan to score for a win Kyan was up to the task scoring 35 in a game against UAB where the Frogs won by three.

Kyan averaged 1/3 of the teams assist while leading in that category also, points, steals, astto ratio and minutes played. He held TCU on his back making a game out of otherwise blowouts. This may seem like a bad team in a good conference but keep in mind that Kyan has done this with the majority of talent on his team sitting due to injuries.

His junior campaign is more of the same with four of TCU best players sitting due to injury and transfer rules. Kyan though is as tough for his size as Allen Iverson as durable as Ty Lawson and as Quick as Damien Staudamire, when it comes to playing basketball. Kyan is averaging 17ppg 5.2AS while shooting 49% from the field and 42% from Three. Also keep in minf that he is doing this against the top talent in the country i.e Andrew Wiggins, Marcus Smart, Jevan Staten to name a few. And Kyan doesn’t just get the crap points of a bad team, he actually makes a game out of otherwise uninteresting play.  With the facts of this article it is only a wounder why Kyan Anderson isn’t on the 2015 mock draft. Nor is he on the Bob Cousy Award watch list nor the mid season all Big 12 team. He is averaging 23.5 his last five game and has had beter game that thouse who are on the mock boards. For all the basketball fans , scouts and those who know what this game is about. Take some time to consider what Kyan Anderson has been doing in the Big 12 as he is underated and being slept on for the 2015 NBA draft.

Check out these Kyan Anderson Highlights if you don’t know who he is.

I think he has a legit shot. I’ve seen a few TCU games this year and he does a lot of things well. He’s got a nice outside stroke, good ball handling, and despite not being a high flier, is one of those guys that does a great job of using their body tocreate space around the rim on lay ups and scoop shots.

His assists and efficiency have both made major jumps this season, and Kyan is clearly the on court leader of his team. He should stay all 4, but I could see him putting up 20 next year, he’s done so for stretches already as a junior. Anderson has a shot in the 2nd round in 2015, IMO
