KHAM83ParticipantPer this article on a Hawks site, teams are thinking Danny Ferry gave dude a promise. If true, I like it. He has legit super star potential vs adding another role player, which Atlanta has plenty of. I too didn’t understand why he would be content with a promise from the Thunder at 21 if he looks to be a lottery pick next year.

joecheck88ParticipantPeople called Exum the International man of mystery but I think Porzingas is. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went in the lotto. I am not saying it is likely but I’ve had him mid first round for awhile now. Rumored to go as high as 10th to Philly but really we aren’t sure. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went anywhere from 10-30. Though I think it’s somewhere in the teens.
Really like his game and at 15 if you hit you’re a genius. If you miss it’s not a huge deal.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHe does not have legitimate super star potential. Playing on a middling Spanish league team with no money does not make for a stepping stone to NBA greatness. The situation in Spain is a sad one, but there is a reason you see more young European players and guys straight from college in the ACB now is that the teams with soccer subsidies have very little money. It is always nice for an 18-year old 7-footer to have some nice games regardless the circumstances, but even though people still throw around the "ACB is the second best league in the world" it isn’t what it was a few years ago when there was financial stability in Spain and finding a relative level of success there means different things now than then.

TyroberParticipantWouldn’t be surprised if the Hawks gave out a promise. They have done so multiple times before so it makes sense.

TRC1991ParticipantFor a team void of playmakers on the wing, it makes no sense for them to draft a big with this pick. I’m begging Danny Ferry to get a small forward who can create for others – this is their biggest need.

HitsterParticipantThis guy suddenly appeared on this site’s mock draft in the first round at 21 to the Thunder, so we assume that there are rumours he was given some sort of promise by them. Now the Hawks rumours have started and other sites have him going to the Hawks at 15 already.
So it appears very likely this guy will go at a decent place in the draft. The Hawks already have the rights to a 7 footer in Lucas Nogiera so could they go for a double big man incoming option?
I had them taking another Nurkic on my mock with the proviso they bring over either him or Nogiera so they could be looking to keep Porzingas as a stasher for a year or so.
Also I notice on the profile of Porzingas on this site it says he likes to play SF so he could be one of these Euro finesse big prospects that teams take a punt at occasionally. I have not seen much of him but he must have interesting upside even if he is likely not to be NBA ready.
He is one of the youngest guys in the draft so I can certainly see a GM taking a chance on him in the first round ( I’ll revise my mock to show this in due course). Personally I’d see him as a great secondary first round pick by a team with multiple picks who can leave him abroad for a couple of years or bring him over and develop him slowly.
I would see him being a good option for Phoenix/Chicago at 18 or 19 if we consider where else he may go.

TheLastWordParticipantMakes sense for the Hawks. They need to gamble on a high ceiling guy. Horford is good but might be leaving for a chance at a ring soon.
