Anybody want to talk about his night in a spot start? 10 pts, 9 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block, and a team best +14. I would hate to be on Thibs bench with no consistency, especially as a rookie.  Good seating available on the band wagon. I think his stock would look a lot different if he had a different opportunity.

he was my favorite rookie coming into this draft and the only guy who i thought has a legit chance of challenging ben simmons as best player from the draft down the road. I thought he would be more nba ready then his stats seem to suggest though. This is going to be one of the worst ROY award winner year’s ever.

Embiid is a pretty good ROY winner though.

Joel Embiid is eligible for the ’17 ROY & he’s posting great numbers in just 25 minutes per game. Rest easy that award is in good hands.

Should be ineligible no offense. 2 years film study, workouts, practice against nba competition. Should not be in ROY talk.

I felt the same way in 2010 when Blake Griffin won the ROY over John Wall due to sitting out the 2008-2009 season to recover from his knee injury.

ROY applies to which year you first played not the year you were drafted. Saric who was also drafted in 2014 like Embeast will likely be a major All rookie contender.

It really makes no sense why he is getting so few minutes it isn’t like Minnesota is winning anything.

i agree his 17 minutes per game aren’t helping development.  It’s more like pinch hitting in baseball than coming off the bench in basketball. Tough to get a rhythm.

he just looked immature and unable to make an impact.  it takes time for you to get timing pacing and spacing down.  Right now he’s still feeling it out…and I hate his coach…meaning, I think he grinds his players and I def woudln’t want to play for him just because of his annoying voice and incessant treatment of his players like they are toddlers.

You gotta allow your players to create.  But I don’t blame Thibs completely for Dunn.  To be a PG you gotta understand how the offense works and the system y’all are running.  It takes time.  Dunn looked a little like a deer in the headlights, a guy who needed to build his confidence, learn how and when to break players down and then get the support of his teammates to watch him go.  Just a little raw, nice to see he is doing well.

I dind’t think he’d be a great player in this league.  He plays hard, just wasn’t polished coming out of college.  Let’s see.

I liked Dunn coming out. I don’t think the plan has changed for the Wolves, he will be their PG of the future – I just think they are playing Rubio to keep his trade value up before dealing him….

The kid could not even play a pick up basketball game or do a live practice for 2.5 years! – scouts wondered if he would Ever be the same player & he’s putting up better stats Shaq Rookie stats in fewer minutes & if he is able to get this Phila team in the playoffs he will prob finish in the top 10 for League mvp

And Dunn is OLDER than Embiid. Now if you want to give me Saric should not be eligible for ROY or Mirotic in 2014 when Wiggins, Mirotic & Noel finished 1,2,3 in the ROY I agree w/ you.

But film study!?!?!? That’s just pure hateraide right there.

I Luv Dunn b/c he’s a great kid & he’s got incredible character. He’s a lock down defender at the pg w/ great leadership skills who can pass, get to the rim at will & he’s got great Leadership. I disagree w/ people who say a pg has to be a great shooter in today’s game but Dunn has a broken shot. And that is going to hamper him at the Pro level – but every player has a weakness & it really comes down to who can learn to mitigate that weakness.

I was hoping for Dunn’s sake he would go to Phila w/ the #3 pick. The rumors were swirling that Noel & Covington were going to Boston for the #3 pick Covington was practially hinting that he was going to Phila at #3 & it looked like Phila would start 4 stud Rookies: Dunn, Simmons, Saric & Embiid but it was not to be. And the way Noel & Covington are playing & from the looks of this deep, very young Draft class Phila’s GM might be glad the deal fell thru b/c they might get 2 guards in the top 10 who are younger & w/ a higher upside than Dunn, but I am def rooting for Dunn to succeed no matter where he is playing.

Seriously, half this site had people raising the question mark flag on Embiid.

I loved the kid in college and said he was better than Jah on Offense and Better than Noel on Defense…

and this site would crush the kid "he hasn’t played any ball in 2 years, its hard to come back from that".

Now its, its not fair that he’s ROY he’s had so much experience in the NBA.

He has to get his legs adjusted and understand pace and space just like anyone else in the league.  Y’all who were hating and throwing caution while the rest of us spoke of his potential as the best big man since Shaquille O’Neal…now you see it.  Wait till this Rookie actually gets his legs under him…

On Dunn, great athlete and I guess a good leader because he used his athleticim.  But I don’t think he made his team better by basketball ways, I think he made them better because he was like  Westbrook type just take over when you needed to.  I never saw him as a guy being a great player in a system.  Like, I don’t think he’d be a great PG for the Spurs.  I think he is your one-on-one style PG which is fine, I just prefer my PG to play in a system,

For instance, I’d much rather have Lonzo Ball.  He’s a slightly better shooter, but Ball is a great passer.  Neither guys have any midrange game, but because of Ball’s ability to shoot and pass, you’d rather have Ball.

Sometimes the fans get too excited by a player’s "Westbrook" ability.  The system is what matters.

Does not make it hate sayings he clearly is not a rookie though. 2 years of film study, pro trainers,2 years of them telling him what to work on,practicing against pros. It matters. I wish him all the best. This generation uses the word HATE to freely.

He is a rookie though, just watch him play. He makes a lot of "rookie mistakes" that translates in a crazy turnover rate of 17.9%. You don’ t want to recognize he is a rookie for age reasons or time to acclimate to Philly and such, but some rookies are not one and done and just as old, and some rookies get drafted in a franchise near home or near their college.

The Pro trainer argument is not relevant at all. As good as the 76ers or others coaching staff is, it is not so much better than top level NCAA coaching staff or european coaching staff that it makes playing time irrelevant to getting ready to the NBA. Coach K has been coaching team USA for years and with much more success than some NBA coach. Many of the coaches and staff in College has coached in the NBA and vice versa. You can argue that the players are not watching exclusively NBA games to study the game, but NBA games are for sure available to them and to study, any player asking his coaches about what to bring to his game for the next level will receive high quality advice and mentorship that is arguably not that much worse than Embiid’s advice.

Embiid has not practiced against Pros for two years. He has healed for that long.

"He is not a rookie because he has made money for n years". Better argument, overseas player do fall in that same category but I understand that. It’s not the same to study film as part of a job or as a passion, I get it. Still does not make Embiid and others "not rookies" imo.

"Hate" or "Hateraide" doesn’t mean you literally hate the player it’s just a term like your overly critical or grinding on someone. It’s not a shot at you personally. If you’ve ever heard the phrase "playing dozens" it’s just kind of how you talk to each other when guys are busting it up & debating sports opinion, you break each other’s balls but all in the spirit of good fun. It does not translate well on the computer.

I respect your opinion & a Lot of people share your opinion. Obviously I disagree, but I do understand b/c becoming acclimated to the Pro life off the court has an impact on the court, so just being w/ the team does give some advantage.

I watched a lot of Embiid at Kansas & I was praying the Lakers would take him  b/c word was circulating that he might fall to #6 or #7 in the 2014 draft & rumors were swirling that Boston or LA would take him if he fell that far. It kills me that Phila has him but it would have been Much worse if Boston got him. Anyway, if you saw him in college he was sharper & quicker than he is right now so even though he’s destroying established Pro’s to my eye he is Still knocking off the rust & we are seeing glimpses of what he will be next year & in the future, that’s why I was so adamant that his injuries have been more of a disadvantage than any work w/ coaches, etc might give him b/c he’s still trying to just get back to what he was.

But once again I def respect your opinion & I hope you can forgive me for the hater reference, it def was not meant w/ any malice towards you.

Rather sad to see Kris back down to only 14 minutes in last night’s win and all the starters playing expanded minutes again. But Thibs seems to have got the T-Wolves on a bit of a run so would defend using his main players so much.

Surely Dunn should be at least 20mpg and take a bit of LaVine’s workload.
