ESPN recently did an article about Kobe VS Lebron

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=5680638

    JVG’s response got me thinking:

What if the NBA have a 1-on-1 tournment and select 8 top players to participate?

This tournament would  be 100x more entertaining than any of the current events including the all-star games.

If NBA put this up on All-star game, it would be great entertainment.

That would actually be a good idea with undercard matches and players calling their own fouls on make it take it or they could all just play 21 I’d rather watch that than some of the lame dunk contests we’ve seen.

If their are 1 on 1s then the undercard matches are up to 5 pts no fouls counted by 1s and the main event up to 10

I think 2vs 2 will diminish the ego effect and be fun.

Imagine Deron and Big Al vs Ray Felton and Amare

Wade and Bosh vs Kobe and Pau

It would be really fun to watch

doubt the players would want to do this. Egos are too high. They did put together a ppv back in 1995 of one on one games. It was Shaq vs Olajuwon as the main event and KG vs Joe Smith and Nick Van Exel vs Kenny ANdersen as the undercards. It got scrapped at the last minute though when Olajuwon got hurt.

I think its a great idea, but i highly doubt the stars are going to do it. Allstar weekend is full of fun to the lakers but lets just say Lebron loses to Kobe. Is he going to walk off the court ashamed and go hide? Stars have to big of egos to lose a 1 v 1. I would like to see some rookies do this or perhaps some players volunteer to do this pregame this year and make ESPN show highlights and have the actually event next year..

I think it’s a cool "outside the box" idea, but to be honest watching 1 on 1 isn’t that fun, IMO.  Guys wouldn’t go 100% because the games didn’t matter, and I think it would get a little redundant after the first couple games.

It would be fun but with the All Star game the top players would not want to play more. But each team could select a none all star to take place and with 30 teams you could have two wildcards or a couple of byes to make it an even numbered tournament.

Players with ball in hand calling out their shots would be great entertainment but would this be more backcourt based as whilst frontcourters have size advantage the backcourters could take them for speed.

If it was open to all then a smaller guard like CP against a Kobe or LeBron would be an interesting matchup to watch.
