torontoraptors10ParticipantI think Kobe cares more about resting and being prepared for the playoffs and possibly win a championship than the scoring title.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantKobe Bryant will not play in the Los Angeles Lakers‘ regular-season finale against the Sacramento Kings, meaning that Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant will win the scoring title.
Bryant averaged 27.86 points per game, second in the league to Durant’s 28.03. With Durant’s regular season over, Bryant would have had to score 38 points to prevent the Thunder forward from claiming his third straight scoring title.
With the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs already locked up, Lakers coach Mike Brown opted to sit the team’s stars and use the game as a talent evaluator for its young players.
Bryant already has said that capturing the third scoring title of his career in this, his 16th season, was "not very important." But Bryant also seemed to indicate that he did not plan on sitting out any more games after returning to the lineup last week after a seven-game, 14-day long absence because of a left shin injury.
Durant scored 32 points in his regular-season finale on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantIf he was 10 years younger, no doubt he’d go for the scoring title. At this point, the only accolade that matters is a championship.

river09ParticipantKobe sitting out just makes sense.. He wants to win a championship more than putting up points.. So resting up is smart.. I think just the fact that he’s still scoring at such a ridiculous rate at his age is quite a statement in and of itself.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantyeah, Kobe would trade any scoring title now for ring number six, tying him with Jordan.

Memphis MadnessParticipantBREAKING NEWS: Kobe is staying home tonight so he can root for MJ’s Charlotte Bobcats to lose, thus setting an NBA record for futility.

Toronto16ParticipantKobe needs to realize that this is about his legacy.

Memphis MadnessParticipant^^^
Kobe’s legacy is that he is the biggest jackass in NBA history. I kinda think that he should have gone for it. lol

IndianaBasketballParticipantKobe wins even in losing…
By not playing, he makes everyone who said he was being selfish, trying to prove he wasn’t "over the hill" and playing for the scoring title this season look stupid. Because he could easily go out and score 40 on the Kings tonight.
