Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI might be jinxing them right now but, the Knicks won 5 in a row. I’m extremely excited, the Knicks are just playing well and I’m very impressed that they substained this success. NY is shooting well, Felton is playing hard, Amare is cutting down on his turnovers ( and increasing his blocks), Fields is lookng like a all 1st-rookie teamer to me as well.
There is one problem however….Gallinari. For one, Gallo has not improved at all and recently, he questioned himself if he can be a star. I like Gallo but I really feel he should be traded. I think it’s time to move on with him, he’s good but I doubt he’d ever be anything then a #3 guy.
We also need another rebounder because STAT is good not great ( NY can count on him for 4-8 rebounds) and Turiaf is decent at that area.

NYK2010ParticipantI agree with most of what you said.
Felton is definately better than I thought, Knicks finally have a legit PG who can penetrate, pass the ball and shoot too.
The shot blocking has been a big improvement over last year Turiaf, Amare, Chandler and even Mozgov in limited mins have all guarded the rim well. They could use another big man though esp. with Randolph’s being out of the roation lately.
Its too early to tell if Gallo will be a star, he has improved granted not drastically. He started the season in a shooting slump and taking a step back but his overall game has started to improve. He’s getting to the free throw line at almost 7 a game this year. There is a lot more to his game than just takign 3’s during the winning streak he’s taken 5 3’s a game can def. live with that esp. in D’antoni’s offense. Compare that to getting to the line at 10 a game. Not sure I would give up on him so quickly this is his 3rd yr but really his 2nd missing most of his rookie season. How many players in the league avg 16 pts a game with only 1 turnover a game. He needs to be more consistent and grab more rebounds. Also take more shot attempts a game 10 a game isn’t a enough for a guy with his shot and he’s been clutch in some games as well. He might not be a franchise player but he should improve and at worst his trade value will improve over time.

HitsterParticipantGallinari has been shooting well this season and is averaging 16ppg on less minutes than last season, I agree that he should be a better rebounder but overall he is doing his role as the 3rd star on the team behind STAT and Feltion fairly well.
Anyone know when the last time the Knicks won 5 on the bounce, it must be a few years ago!

MkadozaParticipantI believe the last time they won 5 straight was 2006 under Larry Brown…
I think Gallo’s shown quite a bit of improvement, but will always be limited by his lack of athleticism. He’s gotten far more adept at attacking the basket, using his fakes and the threat of his jumpshot to create space or contact. He still makes bad decisions and mental lapses. But I’ve seen way more instances where hes been active in all facets of the game. Blocking shots, making key deflections, even attacking the boards with some intensity. He’s just now starting to look for teammates on his forrays to the basket, so I would hold of on moving him. He could be a premiere third man on very good team. The only way I would trade him is if it was for Carmelo, who’s pretty much a vastly superior Gallinari who shots midrange shots instead of threes.

stanford hoopsthey actually dont look half bad now. fields defensive intensity seems to be rubbing off on some of the players finally. rumors are the knicks are trying to move randolph which would be a good thing to get that overrated player out of there and get someone who can contribute

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI’ll say it til I’m blue in the face, don’t worry about Gallinari. He’ll eventually go back to being the best shooting specialist of the 42 percent clip variety that we all know he is.
In all seriousness, don’t get all Timberwolfie on the mini-run. The have had a nice soft schedule to start the year, but those things balance out eventually. Be happy that they haven’t gotten rolled by other bad teams like in past years, but it is still only a small step forward.

NYK2010ParticipantIt’s early wins are wins though especially on the road, they need to start winning at home.
They’ve lost to some bad teams the 76ers, Warriors, Rockets, Twolves and Bucks.
Been competitive against the Nuggs, Celtics, Hawks but not good enough to win.
